yep, just like driving on ball bearings
Flat out the best UA-cam channel, it's the only subscribed channel that I watch every episode and am never disappointed, props to you and your amazing team!
Not only was the white Ford 2 wheel drive, it had absolutely useless tires for that terrain.
Not much tire wise is gonna help with 2 feet of gravel to sink into, lol. It's just heavy
@@0xsergy yeah, you could hear it, that gravel was really deep.
Who in their right mind buys a useless two wheel drive truck? You actually lose money at reselling time. There is no good reason to buy one.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q If you buy one used, they already take the hit in value anyways lol. But yes they are useless offroad though and towing a camper, you will probably need 4wd a few times
@@0xsergy Not true. I've been all over lake mead in my 4WD Tacoma with a 2 1/2 inch lift and just 31 inch All Terrains. With my tires aired down I can get all over lake mead in much harder gravel than that. Now mud on the other hand is a big issue. The water has receded badly and the deep mud that sucks you in will get me stuck.
This was my favorite recovery video yet. Best content on UA-cam
You guys should look up southern nevada Offroad recovery Facebook. This has been a huge issue on the lake last couple months
I can’t believe how bad it is at the lake now. It’s sad to see how it’s changed throughout my 40 years here.
That gravel is very deceiving looking, I bet it catches a lot of folk out. Cool idea having LEDs in the wheel wells.
Exactly why I don’t buy 2wd trucks. Learned that lesson years ago.
Amen big time !
me: gets new Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4
Brother in law: is that 2wd?
me: 😐
It's not the 2 wheel drive trucks fault. It's the operator not knowing the limitations of the vehicle. Human error
The truck can't fix stupid. They haven't invented a switch on the dash that solves that yet.
I would love to do recoveries with my truck. It's a Chevy Colorado 2.8 duramax diesel. 4x4 with lockers ZR2 model it's a great little engine and capable off road. I've pulled bigger 3500 4x4 trucks and vans stuck in the snow.... the drivers are amazed that it can pull them
closest thing i've ever come to "driving on the moon" was driving up to my property through about 3ft of ash after a forest fire.....knee deep ash is no joke.
The forest service does a lot of prescribed burns around here. You have to be VERY cautious walking the burns before the rain. Extremely easy to step in a hole full of coals where tree stumps burn out.
So, you were up to your ash in ashes?
Thats sounds terrible.
@@chuckstith838 quite likely...quite literally.
@@dbmail545 was pretty amazing to see how the fire burned so hot the entire root systems of trees had burned underground leaving all of these deep "tunnels" were the roots once were once everything had settled down.....funny thing is i had a bunch of shin deep holes all over the property from a yote pack that had been digging the place up while i was abroad, was not looking forward to having to go around with a shovel and back filling them all, turns out there was so much ash that it just ended up packing down in all the holes and did the job for me......i mean i got to look on the bright side of a bad situation right? lost a bunch of trees around my cabin but saved me a ton of work. lol
I've lived here in Las Vegas since 79 , i have never been stuck at Lake Mead , and i go there a lot ! In fact i've never been stuck anywhere in Nevada ! Now i sheared a leaf spring pin one night and couldn't steer but fixed it the next morning and was gone ! Love this hot ass place !
looked like it was close to braking that jake stand
Yes on the jack. Shoulda kept going higher. No fun when those bend.
Seeing the MOORVAIR pulling out the first vehicle with all the lights on and illuminating the dust was so cool. Looked like a beast in the fog wanting to eat!
Looks like all that could've been under water for years and years but the drought brought it out.. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
That area was under water up until the early 2000's. Additionally, the Virgin River drains into that area of Lake Mead, hence the buildup of mud, rocks, etc.🍺
It could also be remnants from the construction of the dam too, it's never really mentioned what they did with all the rock they removed.
@@danielm6049 they are on the opposite end of the lake, from the map. The lake is doing it's job. Providing water when there's not enough. Lake Mead is so amazing lake Powell is better.😄
Its not a drought, its Californian transplants flooding the city trying to get away from the mess they created and draining the lake faster than the river can fill it every year.
Lizzy adds a great dimension to the channel and she aint just a pretty face. Love the work ethic of the whole crew.
Just started watching. Those underbody lights are a brilliant touch. Maybe that's common. Either way, must be super helpful.
Makes those night recoveries look like more than a blacked out screen.
Those are commonly referred to a rock lights. They are a super useful off roading light option for people that drive in rocky areas.
It's nice that you get to enjoy working and having fun with your kids!
You should have a t-shirt to give out that says SUPPORT THE CHANNEL BY BUYING 2WD TRUCKS!
4wd is just as useless if they don't have a rear locker
Always a good time on this channel. Thanks.
Dude was way too excited that Lizzie was there lol
creep vibes for sure
You all are awesome helping them.
It was a long drive good choice to go ahead and get him out
wow 1020 at night, cool, I work the graveyard at the casino,,, 10 to 6 in the morning, have for the last 2 years, I love it, you guys are great, keep up the great work
Looks like you're on pure crushed stone. The problem with driving on that is there's no binder and rocks move easy on each other.
Even worse than sand imho
When I'm tired and have to drive, singing really does help. You gotta be really jamming out too.
"On a warm summer evening in morvair bound for the lake. I met up with a Matt...
The under lighting is awesome... and in your case, actually useful.
Lizzy fabricates wheel suspension, Lizzy gets dragged tens of miles in a junk car without windshield, Lizzy spends her saturday night on offroad recovery out of state... There's your MVP (sorry Matt & Rudy).
And she got asked for her autograph 2 seconds after getting out of the car once there
Perfectly said👌
Not really.
Need an answer on what happened to Randy. If the story that she wrecked a fans vehicle on a joyride and he got fired for not stopping her then MVP goes right out the window.
I'm loving the lights you added under each wheel well. Unobtrusive and really helpful with the light they cast.
There is a lot to be said , for just letting your tyre pressures down. Would solve so many problems. Love your content.
"It's late enough, everybody's getting silly." is pretty much the entire business model isn't it? Couple of folks crazy enough to go out and get stuck, and a couple of folks crazy enough to drive out and recover them. This channel is awesome, glad Donut brought me here, I've been watching hardly anything else since...
Have you thought of opening up franchises, you to can have a Matt’s Off Road Recovery business. You can supply them a Morvair. 🤣🤣
can't duplicate the morrvair or Matt's skills and knowledge!
@@bachaddict I think Rudy and Lizzy are his understudies. 😉

Now I need a nap after that midnight expedition.
The “night crew”…vampires! Love the lights in the wheel wells…cool!
Matt's favourite song to sing? I recon anything by the spice girls.
beatles ' we can work it out '
@@888johnmac The Beatles would have never, ever worked on that kind of a job. I can not imagine them driving trucks and getting dirty. They were elitists, especially John Lennon. I'm glad they're finally out of sight.

ill tell you what I want, what i really really want....
That was some very interesting gravel he was on!! Good thing he call you guys!!!
sing the ballad of Jed Clampet (beverly hillbillies). that always keeps everyone awake. and or, play 6 days on the road by dave dudley on the media player
Besides myself there's maybe 4 other people that watch this channel on a regular basis that could sing the whole song from memory. I'm willing to bet none of them are younger than me (34), and everyone else is at least 15 years older than me.

Did you forget the trailer? Corvair was on a trailer going down, and just driving going back?
Would it make sense that they were on the way back to the trailer when they ended the video?
