at the time (mid 80's) I was sort of indifferent to Fuzzbox ( I dont know why) but now as a middle aged man I recognise them as the creative powerhouses they where. I have lissened to this so many times, love it. x
This is loaded with so much brit sci-fi WTF. Love. It. I AM a child of the 80's HOW DID I NOT KNOW OF FUZZBOX!? Oh. Yeah. That's right. I was in America at the time. There's so much British 80s pop I have yet to discover.
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not from the 80s, but I love British music from the 80s and 90s and I'm discovering new bands and songs every day. I literally just discovered Fuzzbox a few hours ago. Excited to binge their stuff!
I think this single was the one that really kicked start the excitement to get a real movie from Thunderbirds.... took some years and the movie makers let us down a bit... but this track is still brill!
I used to work in a factory were we produced air compressors and generators. I had been there since January as a Saturday odd job lad - extra money 💷 while approaching my exams. Anyway this used to play on the factory production line radio, I remember the thunderbirds countdown the most. It was a very unique and inventive song, really stood out.
Since the start of this year they've been showing TOTP 1989 on BBC Four, right from Jan 89 and doing it proper every week, discovered this song only yesterday. Was only few weeks old when this came out in March 1989.
i remember this being in the charts in 1988 i might be wrong though but we always used to pump up the volume @ work on radio 1 when they played proper pop music always used to have a good laugh @ our tune as well sick fuckers that we were anyway happy days long the eighties
Cor Vicky....anyway, this, Pink Sunshine and Self defined summer 1989 for me at 18. The Big Bang album still sounds fresh, maybe I like that Fairlight sound. Should have released the up tempo Fast Forward Futurama as their forth single. I'd like to buy a reissue Big Bang on coloured vinyl or double.
I miss these types of verses and chorus. You don't hear this style much today. Miley Cyrus has a great 80s homage called Midnight Sky and the remix Edge of Midnight that ticks all the 80s boxes.
I seem to remember hearing John Peel saying the name of the band, I suppose he must have played their stuff on his radio show all those years ago. Of course before the internet it was a lot harder to find out about bands. I expect the NME interviewed them but I didn’t read/buy it. I got here after watching the documentary on Sky Arts by Stewart Lee about The Nightingales called King Rocker. Robert Lloyd signed them up on his Vindaloo label.
This must've been what I remember first about Fuzzbox as I had a vague memory of the lead singer in something sparkly. Irony is that it's Pink Sunshine I remember over International Rescue
As a massive Fuzzbox fan in 1986,aged 16, I had all the singles, the album, posters on my wall and played everything on a loop. Carried on playing their stuff into my Twenties and Thirties (on occasions)but really respected the bravado, the energy and the simple innocence of the band. Aged 43 I went to a Wildhearts Gig and was dumbstruck to see Vix singing as support. We had arrived early, and my heroine was in front of me at the bar. Mustering up courage I said nervously, "Hey Vix,I just have to say...I was a massive fuzzbox fan" . "Yeah" said my mate. "He used to wank over the posters". You really fucking get to know who your mates are.
When this band altered their image from their previous punk look, they got more mainstream success. It's a shame they diddent become more well known as I think they were very talented girls.
RIP Jo Dunne 2012 (the one with the shades). I always remember her discussing she being on a plane touring and she fell asleep on a fellow passenger and was slobbering all over them.
This came out too late. The Guardians soundtrack is based around the cassettes left by Star Lord's mother, who died in the late 80s, of songs that she grew up listening to. That's why it's all 70s and early 80s stuff. Also, she was American and this was WAY more popular in Britain than America.
This and pink sunshine are classics Quite partial to their punk era stuff aswell. Vix is gorgeous and still is now, some great stuff by her recent music venture aswell
Some of the camera angles even create a moment for her to do so. Yes you are right, however did she actively choose to, subconsciously do so, or was it someone else who told her! Will we ever know 👀

Pink Sunshine is a pop classic.
1:39 Maggie's smile gets me everytime 💗
At 1:38 you can see an Eagle Transporter from Space 1999. And Ade Edmundson ! WTF ! What a fun video.
Love the band and the Barbarella homage.
As always RIP Jo xx
Thunderf00000000t. You owe me big time buddy.
Too bad the impact won't be as great as Stranger Things had for Kate Bush, yet I am glad Thunderf00t introduced me to this gem 😂
Just brilliant, must have missed this one when it was out. Will make up for it now though, third time listening already LOl.
Love the video & great tune ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Tina’s look is fabulous in this video!
Can see why she was on the cover of the 7”
Sure takes you back in time, does it not?
He does do great production work!!
Seeing the gorgeous Vickie Perks me up still… 😍
The only band in music history to have a catwalk supermodel as lead vocallist..and how!
Had the album on cassette when I was at primary school
I got mine signed
waited for hours.. bought it on 12 inch from HMV

If nothing else it did bring Thunderbirds back into people's thoughts in 1989.
Ade Edmondson directed this (yes thats him ..)
Yes I remember 👍

Still a good tunnnnee back in the 80s the lead singer is one of my mates sister ❤️ oooolllllaaaaa hehe 😄
Love it x
I do believe that some of the back shots of this video are taken direct from "Space 1999" too, even more brit sci-fi.
The guy in the weird space-diaper on 0:16 looks like Jason Donovan!
That's what I was thinking. I'm sure it is!
No... it was Ace from Gladiators !!!!
I thought it was Adrian edmondson from the young ones
Sounds of the 80s on radio 2 with woo Gary Davis brought me here!
Ade Edmondson, lucky dude!
Is that Adrian Edmondson in this video as that mad bad guy?????
best legs from pop in the 80s lol

Thunderbirds are go!!!
How is this song so good, its like something off Power Windows by Rush
Such a fun band one half were girlie one half boyish they always had a laugh..miss the 80s
Imagine if this had been released three years later when Thunderbirds was at its most popular: they would have had a number one smash on their hands
The Birmingham girls did good!
Ah never knew they were Brummies!!
love these girls and thunderbirds win win

skipped school to get this record signed.. Wolverhampton.. waaay back. they were cool..
I preferred them when they were rough and punky.
Love this

So cool
What a great band! Too bad they didn't stick it out longer, they barely mined their potential.
They kinda did. After a 20 year or so lay off they started performing again (well some of them) and are still going.
I love Fuzzbox :)

Is the crazy eyebrow guy in this video Ade Edmondson?!
Yes - he also directed the video. He was more or less dressed as Duranduran from Barbarella.
No. The video is a dream that Vivyan had.
adumanter you could be right it certainly looks like Ade.
Barbara Porter it is
Without a doubt, that's Ade all right!
God I Loved Maggie ❤️
This reached Number 11.
How did Tina not get an Oscar for this performance? The dance steps at 3:02 are just sublime
I love the Fuzzbox in Paard van Troyen

Lucky person he he
Love the Barbarella overtones....
The lead singer is gorgeous. Wander what she looks like now.
Not much different going by the most recent videos here on YT.
Same age as me so bloody lovely
Absolutely! She was smoking in the day and by accounts is still pretty damn hot! And yes is just a bit younger than I am, lol.
I listened to Fuzzbox for years, never knew they had music videos, nor did I expect them all to be ultra-femmes.
Should of been used in one of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies.
gojira54 what a song about another sci fi franchise?

So catchy, love the synth, would've made a nice cartoon intro, but it so generic ^^.
