What a blast from the past to rewatch! Arrived here by way of your faux rusting gear piece, which I found when searching for Paper Artsy Rusting Powder. I LOVE going on “down the rabbit hole” explorations! 💗💗💗
Holy moly! I make beaded jewellery and my friend has just started working with silver. I can't afford to make that jump, but I have a glue gun, I have cardboard and I have black acrylic paint, so all I need to get is some silver and a flat brush and I'm in business. Thanks once again for bringing us such wonderful frugal crafts x
What's this about using silver paint, i never saw her use any silver paint at all, i think she just used black paint, let it dry slightly, than just wiped over it with a brush, i at this moment have no sound on my laptop, so i could not hear anything at all, my main problem is i have no idea what it was that she is using in those tubes or smaller bottles, she held it up & it went away to fast, i even tried to back track, i still couldn't see what she was using at all .Does anyone here reading this know what she is using from those tubes at all"
This is AWESOME!!!!! Your the best LIndsay!!!!! thanks so much! Gonna do this today! I lived in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine for 46 years and have been in North Carolina for 2 yrs now..but my husband spent most of his childhood in Maine , Machias?...I think that is how you spell it...I just love you and all your videos...what an inspiration you have been to me...Love and Hugs from NC..
Today I found these on UA-cam and had immediately to try it and I am really happy with my new pair of earrings. It's so easy to do and really beautiful! Thanks a lot for sharing this idea!
I love crafts like this! I have a box full of empty food boxes like that to use for crafting. I cant wait to give this a try! Love the drying rack too! I need to make me one of those!
Es una maravilla! qué fácil y preciosos que quedan! Me ha gustado mucho el soporte para el secado, es muy ingenioso. Gracias por enseñarnos a hacer estas cosas tan bonitas. Un beso.
This is totally brilliant! Thanks for sharing a superb tutorial - so easy to do, and so cheap and quick too, with excellent results. Lots of potential for this technique, not just for jewellery - but for embellishing projects, covering boxes etc.
Great tutorial! I can't believe you can wear long sleeves and a sweater to paint with acrylics! I always ruin whatever I'm wearing around paints and inks. My favorite thing is to drop the ink pad in my lap and/or drag my sleeve through the paint. One time I was reinking a black archival ink pad, the reinker was close to empty and at the last second it did a raspberry and my chest was covered with black specs. After washing it looked like the dress had been left in the washer too long and got moldy. All my dark colored clothes have gesso on them. It's like our black and white cat--fur to show on every color you wear.
u r so generous, delightful and resourceful ... love your work and teaching style in all your vids ... you make everything look so easy with all your tips.
Well, isn't that inventive!👍🏻👍🏻 Never would have thought of using a rubber stamp on hot glue! I'll definitely refer back to this one at some point. I don't wear large earrings, but I'm thinking of ways to use this as embellishments on junk journals, treasure boxes etc. Thanks so much for sharing.🤗
Do you recommend coating these with any finish such as ModPodge or some other type of acrylic sealant? I'd think that they'd be prone to wearing issues on the paint without doing so but, could be wrong.
This is like the first thing that I have found that I can instantly do it right at home because I already have all the materials! simple and awesome!!!
Well that was an extremely clever and interesting craft. Thank you so much I have card and black paint Just need the silver paint. Then all set to have a go. *****five stars .Top marks.
I remember in tne 80s using brown paper bags and glue, then holding it over a candle to give it that faux metal look. I think this is safer and looks just as wonderful.
You may have been asked this already but what type of glue stick did you use? I know they have cool temp or hot temp (or at least I think that is what the types are). Thanks for your help.
Wow this is awesome. I would have never thought to use hot glue...it's certainly cheaper than poly clay or actual metal pewter casting. Very nice technique indeed!
In your latest ask a crafter, a viewer asked about crayon art. I'm no fan of the crayon art either but...here's a tip for an impatient crafter. I melted a small part of black crayon into the hot glue and pressed the stamp in. It looks fabulously tricky cool. : ) I didn't have to get my hands full of paint and I got to melt things with my heat gun. The glitter crayons made the items shimmer. Thank you for the idea. Your thumbs up fantastic.
Lindsay, do you put a top coat sealer when completed? I viewed this older video last night for the first time and decided to give it a try. Thank you for all your amazing videos! I also found out that hot glue does not stick to parchment paper.
Super idee! Vroeger deden we dit met houtlijm. Maar met het lijmpistool is veel makkelijker en sneller. Wel oppassen met de handjes, haha. Groetjes Helena.
I realize this is an old video so you may not see this. I also think you are a very smart and talented woman, so please don’t take this question wrong. I’d like to make and sell these they are so cool, but do you know anything about durability, and would the paint cause a rash? Have you had any complaints? Thank you for the tutorial.
I wish I had your energy! I've been trying to find the directions for the glue ,medallions for forever! Someone told me how to do it, but everytime I tried it, the glue would cool off too fast to put the stamp init. I was told to do it on a ceramic tile, so maybe the tile was too cold or something. Thanks

I am so glad you showed how to do this. I had thought of using stamps in hot glue but I was concerned my stamps would be ruined. You're brilliant.
quick tip when using hot glue. Do it on baking paper. It's non stick so it comes off really easily without any trouble
Thank you (:

Wow, these look great and soooooo much less work than poly clay. All the sanding etc and polishing such long process. Thank you?
This is really really AWESOME! I am really blessed by your tutorials. I thought hot glue is only for gluing purposes. Thank you, thank you.
Lindsay, you are just great! I've enjoyed every one of your videos that I've been able to watch and I'm looking forward to more!
Brilliant video to watch and so easy to follow thank you. Something I can do with my daughters x Thank you for sharing xxxxxx
You clever fun sausage! Especially love that foam core with pins in it & your silicon backing thingy :D
Do you recommend coating these with any finish such as ModPodge or some other type of acrylic sealant? I'd think that they'd be prone to wearing issues on the paint without doing so but, could be wrong.
Lindsey, that is so darn cool! Love it! I'm going to try it out tomorrow! b

You are an absolutely awesome crafter. Thank you.
Can you get a perfect shape when using the hot glue and a stamp?
Cool! I didn't know you could stamp hot glue. It's amazing how it looks like real pewter. 👍❤️☺️
That is awesome Lindsay ! Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm going to try this out as embellishments for journal covers. Cheers ! Janis

It's amazing.
Can I use clear stamps or only rubber stamps can be used?
Thx.
I love your videos! You are very talented using everyday stuff!
Amazing.....They look like metal....thanks for teaching this technique....regards from Chile!!!!!
awesome, but are they heat resistent??? i work outdoors under a tent and have had unlit candles melt on me. they ARE made of hot glue afterall.
You should be fine, I think hot glue melts at 300+ degrees:)
I remember in tne 80s using brown paper bags and glue, then holding it over a candle to give it that faux metal look. I think this is safer and looks just as wonderful.
I still do brown paper bags and tacky glue. Love that look.
When I did the brown paper bag over the candle thing; I caught that baby on fire. Exciting craft day that day. Lol!

I am terrible. I laughed out loud, for real
Ican laugh now, but it was so stupid when I did it. Felt like a doofus.
Can you show us how to do it?
what do you use to make a hole for earring making ??? thanks
girl your videos are so inspiring keep it up
bellissima idea, costo zero, leggera, comoda e soprattutto carini gli oggetti creati, grazie!
Black and silver looks good
Do you think it would look as good in other colors
Do the paint become to wet for the cardboard
Happy New Year sweetie You continue to inspire me with your crafty ideas I love your videos
Love your stuff, you are such a talented lady, thank you
How about a 99 cent store tweezers so you don't burn your fingers?
Do you think it would be ok to use the Vintage dies for a stamp?
Thanks Lindsay
Great idea Lindsay and they are very pretty your very smart lady,,! Thank you for sharing! Hugs Liz X
Loved it.
You might use balls of foil for an abstract surface or a fake turquoise or other gem.
Nail polish can be used too.
That is super clever!!! I'm going to try this out!!!
Really cool. Could you use Inka Gold in silver in place of the silver paint? Also, would the hot glue pieces hold up as a pair of earrings?
I have not used inka gold so I don't know if it will rub off but these will hold up to earrings:)
great can it be done on soda cans?
+Olga Matos sure, be careful as they are sharp tho;)
Is the punch one used for leather? I don't find one like that with regular punches.
nope, it is a paper punch 1/16" hole:)
You always come up with the coolest projects! I wonder if you used versa mark on your stamp first, if it will release easier? Worth a try!
Hi Lindsay, could you use alcohol inks on the glue globs once they are peeled off the stamps to colour instead? Thanks for a great video :D Kate
Angelchakra sure:)
cool thanks! :D
Awsome!!! Can't wait to make these!! Thank you for sharing! 💖
Love the Faux Peweter! Thanks Lindsay
This is awesome! I love those earrings!

Is it safe to stamp into hot glue with photopolymer stamps? Thank you.
You may have been asked this already but what type of glue stick did you use? I know they have cool temp or hot temp (or at least I think that is what the types are). Thanks for your help.

Hi Lindsay
Awesome video
Cool technique and looks easy peasy! Thanks for the great tutorial(s)!!! :)
Lindsay, do you put a top coat sealer when completed? I viewed this older video last night for the first time and decided to give it a try. Thank you for all your amazing videos! I also found out that hot glue does not stick to parchment paper.
you can if you want, it will give the cardboard more protection but the acrylic does seal it fairly well.
Thanks! , so can it be purchased at Hobby Lobby or Michaels? And what dept. please?
the paint? Yes in the acrylic paint section
If I could give 50 thumbs up I would😁
What an awesome idea and they are so pretty!!!
Wow, so fun and nice! I can imagine this would be very therapeutic to do :) Thank you so much for sharing it :)
Can the hot glue be re melted and reused?
Seaway you can reheat it with a heat gun and stamp in it:)
This was so simple and clever. Thanks for the new insight.
Thank YOU Lindsay for another wonderful tutorial... ;)
You are one smart cookie... This a great idea.
Super idee! Vroeger deden we dit met houtlijm. Maar met het lijmpistool is veel makkelijker en sneller. Wel oppassen met de handjes, haha. Groetjes Helena.
Tahnk you Lindsay for your answer, I'll try and with your advise I'm sure it'll work OK.
Best regards!
My special needs daughter has gotten into jewelry, but she is hard on it. I think I will try this as a pendant idea.
