      Hi Allie, yes, mine have never come out. There have been times when I have wanted to get a design out of a bezel and have had to dig it out with a knife. Great tutorial. Wondering if you have to seal the piece. Does the alcohol ink rub off on skin or clothing?

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  10 місяців тому

      Thank you glad you like it - good question - I didn’t notice any problems like that with mine but that doesn’t mean the ink won’t rub off under more robust wear than my pendants get. So you could use some kind of sealant over the top - like Krylon Kamar. I’m not a huge fan of spray sealants because of the health hazards though. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment. 🙏💕

    Love this idea BUT to anyone trying this... you need to seal Any alcohol inks before wearing. Otherwise if you sweat the inks will come off the piece and your neck will become stained. I've had this happen to me.

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  5 років тому

      Thank you for that tip - I haven’t had that happen to any of my alcohol ink pendants - perhaps it depends on what quality inks you use. I have lots of tin scraps laying around here with alcohol ink on and once it’s dry, it stays put even if you wet it. But it’s useful to know you’ve had this experience and let me know so that people can seal their pendants if they want to. Many thanks for watching and commenting.😍

    • @kandaceellis318
      @kandaceellis318 5 років тому +1

      I use a spray on sealer or spray on mod podge. You can use matte or gloss and the color will stay put.

    Love the craft, can you put something clear over the ink so it wouldn't stain, like the person commented earlier

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  2 роки тому

      Yes you can use something like Krylon Kamar spray varnish. A waterbased sealer would not work. I personally don't like using sprays because of the health issues with lungs but if you are wanting to make these pendants to sell or wear a lot, you will need to seal them. But wear a mask and have excellent ventilation🙏💕

    I have some punches, but they get very dull fast. Did you say cutting tin foil will make them sharp? Is there another way to keep them sharp?

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  Рік тому +1

      Hello there, so sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I agree, punches do get dull and yes, punching through tin foil is supposed to help keep them sharp but I think maybe we should be doing that every now and then before they get dull. I have had punches that just don't want to work any more and nothing has helped. And they aren't cheap either are they! So annoying. I did just find a video on UA-cam that might help ua-cam.com/video/vha6W6qdwuM/v-deo.html Many thanks, for watching and reaching out.🙏

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  6 років тому

      Thanks for that - that's a good idea and as it dries clear, it wouldn't show if it someone used a little too much and it squished out a bit,

  • @marshaspicer4189
    @marshaspicer4189 6 років тому +1

    Why did you use double stick tape instead of gluing the embossed tin pieces to the foil??

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  6 років тому

      Hi Marsha, when I’m making films for tutorials or workshops, I tend to use double sided tape because there is no drying time to factor in. But when I do stuff for myself, I do use wet glue if it’s appropriate. But I must say I do love my double sided tape! 😀 Thank you for taking time to watch and comment.

    Why do you use double sided tape instead of glue? I love Bohemian anything!

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  5 років тому

      Hi Jackie - thanks for watching and commenting - Sometimes I use double-sided tape just because I am in a hurry and haven't got time to let stuff dry if I am filming. Sometimes it's because it will hold things together better quickly without glue squishing out and getting messy. And sometimes it's because I tried out using both ways and the tape worked better in a given situation. These videos are just the sharing of ideas - most crafters will adapt and do things their own way - ways that may work better for them. Thanks again for your input - it is much appreciated.😍

    Where do you buy one inch punch

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  2 роки тому

      Hi Betty, Amazon usually has them. I have bought a couple of mine on there. I also got one from a local craft shop but they are getting harder to find in shops. Try Amazon. Thanks for watching🙏💕

      Hi Lizette, apologies for delay in responding to your question. The machine I use is the Sizzix Big Shot. Many thanks for watching and reaching out.🙏

      +Sushmita Pawar Hi Sushmita, thank you for watching and for your question. Another viewer mentioned that you can use a rolling pin (like you would use to flatten pastry I'm guessing), but I have never tried it. You can also use an embossing tool which would be much cheaper. Can you bear with me and I will see what I can come up with as soon as possible because this is a very good point you have raised here and I would like to help you. I will come back to you with ideas very soon.

      I saw another UA-cam video where the artist used a writing pen on the reverse side of the can to make his own designs and patterns, just pushing hard enough to make an imprint. Turned out very nice.

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  7 років тому +6

      Thanks for that, it does work quite well using an empty ball point pen. Also, the metal embossing tools work well. They come in different sizes and are not expensive (in the UK).

      Sushmita Pawar, put the aluminum on a cushiony surface like a folded dishtowel, etc. Use a pencil to make draw your design on the backside, make dots around the edge, whatever, just make sure you don't punch all the way through the aluminum. Also, if you're writing make sure you do it in reverse. On the right side outline the design right above/below your first lines. This will make the design stand out more.

      +Amy Setzer Hi Amy, it's a Sizzix Big Shot but I wouldn't recommend buying one unless you are going to use it a lot - they are quite expensive and I think there may be other ways of embossing the tin - I will come back to people about this shortly as a couple of people mentioned the expense and asked about alternative ways of embossing.

      I never wear any pendant that isn't silver or gold next to my skin - always long enough to wear over clothing.

      +Valerie Martinez do you mean the punch for cutting the metal into squares?

    • @valeriemartinez9074
      @valeriemartinez9074 7 років тому

      Rainbow Lane yes please sorry for just asking the question how rude of me just want to say it is very pretty thanks for answering back 🌸

    • @RainbowLane
      @RainbowLane  7 років тому +3

      +Valerie Martinez no need to apologise - I am happy for people to ask questions, I just wasn't sure if you meant the punch for cutting the squares or the die stamp I used for embossing the tin. The punch is around £8 and the embossing folders are around the same I think. You can find them online for various prices. And if you don't have a square punch to cut the tin, you can always use scissors.
