I mentioned that the fundraising has been officially launched for the Porter steam locomotive no. 5 in the 1st Week of May 2024 Railfan Updates and Announcements episode.
2:27 my old family friend is starting to look good my great great grandfather would be proud if he were here to see that The Pennsylvania Railroad is one side of my Railroad family traits the Pennsylvania Railroad is on my mom side of the family and my grandfather‘s side of the family was the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad both for great railroads but I lean over to my mom‘s side more because of how special the 1361 is to me to this day I still have my great great grandfather’s railroader’s watch and all his Pennsylvania Railroad rulebooks I look forward to the spirit of Altoona returning to steam once again
I'll say, lots did happen this week. It's nice to see PRR 1361's tender was finally done, CPKC's first paint scheme finally revealed a year after a merger, and so much else.
I was surprise that the Iron Horse Society will help the restoration of Boston & Maine #3713, which means the restoration is doing very well! I can't wait that Wilmington & Western #98 will return to service soon!
Hey T.R: I have been watching your update and announcements videos for 3 years now and I wanted to let you know about a steam locomotive in Denton NC that is in the process of getting overhauled. The locomotive is the Handy Dandy Railroad No. 9 and I was hoping you could shed some light on this locomotive in your next video.
Thank you so much for watching my videos during the past few years. In return, I will spread the word on Handy Dandy Railroad no. 9. Looks like fundraising is progressing nicely and I’ll whatever I can to help bring it back into operation again.
Additional Updates & 3rd Week Episode Predictions: -The T1 Trust has finished the frame and driving wheels of the T1 Duplex and has, in recent days, released a video updating people on the progress, and giving a projected timeline for completion. -After weeks of delay’s due to mechanical malfunctions from both Southern Railways KS-1 #630 and Southern Mikado Class #4501, the Summerville Steam Special will be underway for its first excursion on June 1st. -Studio 346’s “Century of Steam” PC Game continues to have no updates since April 20th. Questions continue to go unanswered from the Devs, even from the project head, Hyce. -The grant for cities to research Amtrak service to and from them has now been distributed and research is underway. -Several passenger and luggage cars have passed through DeButts yard en route to a railway museum in Virginia. There is a possibility of restoration. -The NTSB investigation into the derailment in Folkston Georgia(US) is underway, and no cause has yet been identified. Media has started blaming PTC for the failure, however many railfans believe it was operator error and the likelihood of one of the trains having either disconnected or inoperable PTC. -The tornado that struck a BNSF train has sparked an NTSB investigation. Removal has been completed and rail traffic flow has been restored. ->That sums up what I have for ya.
Eh, when it comes to Century of Steam, the main thing to remember is that they're mainly giving monthly updates, usually close to the end of the month, in fact. So I'm not too worried about a lack of updates from the team, especially since it's getting close to the release time of another devlog on UA-cam(one that, as a member of their Patreon, I can confirm is coming)
#HistoryInTheDark featured that BNSF train a few days ago. That goes to show you, the nose of a North American diesel locomotive can be a pretty handy twister shelter if needed!
5:48 hopefully they’re still planning on restoring former port of Grays Harbor Porter Mikado number 5

The tender looked wonderful and once they get the engine finished she’ll be back on the rails pulling excursions.
