I’m a commercial Chaga harvester in northern Canada. I’ve been watching a couple conks that I left unharvested on the trees for over 20 years, they can grow very slow and the tree will tolerate them for a really long time before finally dying. My best day harvesting was 230 lbs, all in a single day and on snow shoes. The largest conk i’ve found was just over 33 lbs, but I’ve seen a picture of an even larger one.

One harvest in 20 years? The producer I'm buying my plugs from says that they will produce two or three harvest, first one taking 8-10 years and following harvests 5-8 years in between.

@@dilldill5947 Yes, certainly can get multiple harvests. What I was referring to is some trees I left unharvested to see how long individual conks can last. Those trees are still relatively healthy, the conks slowly growing, now 20 years on.

They grow in Scandinavia too. I live in Sweden and have harvested chaga many years. You should not make any harm on the birch when harvesting chaga. You may also harvest chaga in the spring before the sprouts come. Chaga is a very sacred medicine and to harvest it is essential to do this with great care for the birch♥️

What's funny, is that it's also used as "tinder fungus" in survival situations. If you place an ember on the gold part, it will smolder slowly for a long period of time. This allows you to carry fire, rather than have to make it by primitive means. You can make a fire with it, and then make a tea to drink when you get there. Amazing stuff.

I have found the best way to harvest it so it grows back quicker is if u take a chisel put behind it . Then pop it off . Or start with a saw then pry it off. By sawing it or using an axe u tend to file or pound it flat. It seems definitely to grow back slower if its flattend. Also leave it a little on the tree. Some hows it works and u can get back to it sooner. Great journey to all.

Easiest way to make chaga tea is in my opinion as follows. The small pieces of fresh chaga can be dried in or besides an oven under 60 degrees celcius for a couple days. I grind the dry pieces with electric meat mill to powder. About one big spoonful of powder is mixed with one liter of boiling water in an insulated thermos bottle and left to stay for several hours. After that you can pour the tea to a cup and drink it.

Chaga actually has much less Oxalate levels than spinach and green beets. Most people won't develop any kidney stones taking Chaga. You would have to take an extremely high unrecommended dose daily!

Just so everyone knows that it all depends on the company producing the in house organic grain based products that dictates how beneficial they are. There are steaming techniques that make constituents bio-available as well so the product does not have to be simmered and the grain is a food source not an ingredient, on top of that the length of time, temperature and other factors play into the way they grow in an Organic environment and there for not everyone produces a crappy mycelium based Organic product!

Still myself & my partener have between us serious cognative issues due to my partner being on ECMO machine for 5 weeks. (Extra corporeal membraine oxygenation) basically your body shuts down, is cooled down, the machine pumps your heart & lungs it does what them pumping does for you. He died 3 times! Once for 21 minutes but a Buddhist nurse massaged his heart untill my love came back. Also he had half of a lung removed. All because he had flu which he then caught pnumonia! He remembers being "under the knife" he felt no pain he just felt " Like they had just opened me uo like the Vikings so called blood eagle! I could feel that I was 'open' i felt my lungs exposed & I was on my front with my ribs nit there, but they were but nit in the right place! I gelt so vulnreble byt in & oyt of it all the time."
Also bless my live has a part of his learning centre of his brain has an inactive "hole" .
His cognative abillity has imparements which come n go. I also have damage to my brain n cognative issues. I looked into Lions Maine. I heard ut can affect a mans hard.on. niether if us want that but we both need the helo from Lions Maine! Any advice on that? Habe yiu heard of that or is raht such a small non problem? Thanks!
