- Downtown Halifax is a place that's near and dear to my (Sarah) heart, since I spent a lot of time here growing up in Nova Scotia. Kyuho, Kevin and I spent the perfect day in Halifax enjoying the sights, history, local food, and the beautiful waterfront :)

Halifax is definitely a must visit during the summer months 🌞🌊 We will DEFINITELY be heading back to that Italian Market again-wow do they have amazing desserts!

He was going to come in May of 2020, but had to cancel due to Covid :( Now he’s saving for a home, so it won’t be anytime soon.

Beautiful! I have never been to the East coast of Canada. Such history, and the houses, oh my!
I lived in a neighborhood like that while growing up, bring back fond memories of playing outside with all of the neighborhood kids 😊
Everytime I see one of your Canada videos, I’m struck by how different the two countries’ scenery look. Can two cities look more different, Seoul and Halifax? It must be a little jarring to experience it. Halifax is absolutely beautiful in summer, but I’ll bet the height of winter there is brutal, with the short days being just a bit depressing at times- that winter days in Seoul aren’t also a challenge. I have SAD, so I’m not at all looking forward to winter’s dark, dank days here on the Atlantic coast of Virginia. That said, I LOVED seeing you three enjoying the beauty that is Halifax in summer. Such a charming town! I loved watching Kyuho’s excitement as he soaked up the sights. Summers you spend in the cooler climate of Canada always seem to be so healing to you both. Can’t wait for the next Canada vid. You do them SOOOO well!
I also have SAD and let me tell you…Halifax (and Nova Scotia in general) is so, so brutal for those with SAD during the winter months (not to mention winter is basically from November to April there). In the summer, however? One of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see 🌊💙
Loved the Halifax harbour when we visited last summer, but the walk back up the hill was BRUTAL. 😮💨😮💨😮💨

Last Fall I was lucky to spent a week in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I had an amazing time. You show some places which I discovered during my stay.

Love your video, we have been to Halifax 3 times but by cruise ship, we do the water front, cut over to Barrington st, eat at Gangnam Korean restaurant, make our way to the Citadel and then zigzag our way to see old homes on our way back to the ship, yes we need to mix it up next time.

omg i used to live just off quinpool on one of those shady streets when i went to university, a lot of my friends still live in the neighborhood. it’s such a beautiful part of town! glad you had such a beautiful day here, it’s always nice to see the city through a tourist’s eyes.

Seeing that bookstore - I just finished reading The Forest Where The Phoenix Sleeps by Brooke Marley Jones and if you haven't read it, Sarah, I think you'll like it! We have fairly similar taste in reading. Also if you want something cozy for fall, I can't say enough good things about The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. It's just so fluffy and cozy and cute!
I totally relate to the idea of being sick of a tourist area, where your spouse is like whoaaaa! Lol. I grew up just outside of Washington DC, and my husband is from Northern California (like... Farm area not anything exciting), and he's a huge aviation nut. Every year for school field trips we would go to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Every. Year. Then my aunt lived downtown and in the summer she'd take us.... To the Air and Space museum. And the zoo. Can you guess where my aviation nut husband wanted to go on a few of our first dates? 🙃 He was so happy and excited lol but I was just like "not AGAIN!" 😂🤣😂

Furthermore on those nice looking houses, the home owners take care of them. It's one thing to have an expensive house, but it's another to keep it in good condition as well. Glad most of them looked in really good shape still!

Fellow Haligonian bakery enthusiast here 😉 you guys always showcase Halifax so beautifully❤ loved seeing the Italian Market, their lemon lavender cookies and buzz cakes were a huge part of my childhood 😂 It’s too bad that Julien’s quality has gone WAY down over the years - next time you visit you should definitely try the treats at Terra Cafe in the Keith’s Brewery building on the waterfront, or Pane e Circo - my favourite desserts in the city! I hope you guys had an amazing visit😊

I love those kinds of little towns with really cute stores and restaurants. Niagara on the lake is cute like that, and Port Hope. I am sure there are many places like that. Quebec has some really pretty streets with the cobblestone roads. I love places that look so cute and pretty.

Did you know that St. Mary's in Halifax is the 2nd oldest Roman Catholic university in Canada? Any university with St. in the name is Catholic. It's such a beautiful school. The architecture is amazing. I am not Catholic but I appreciate the buildings.

Love your videos, i love watching and viewing what you guys are seeing and hearing your commentary also. it's like i'm able to travel with you guys! Never been to Nova Scotia but if I go, I know what to expect :)
Something to note culturally that i've been told by my chinese family, is for death related items like funerals and graves - we're not supposed to take pictures of it. I forget the specific reason but the expectation is that it'll bring you bad luck and the negative energies. I'm not sure if it's the same with other asian cultures?

Also, we have a huge cementary that you need to take a tram to go thru it.. It is called Springhill Grove. Many famous people are buried there.
The Halifax waterfront looks so much prettier to walk around compared to the waterfront here in Windsor, Ontario. Where I live, Windsor, ON, is a border city but there isn't really much to do here, during the week everything is closed by 8 or 9pm (other than bars) and becomes a ghost town and on the weekend most places close by 5 or 6pm. I've never traveled by plane or car within Canada to another province.

I enjoyed your visit to dowtown Halifax. Sarah, when you said the houses is like a million dollars; in Ohio, it wouild be $200,000 - $300.000 in USA dollars. We bought and is building a 2 million dollar house right now. It has basement, main floor and upstairs including 5.8 acre lot. We are having geothermal, about 36 solar panels put on the grass, and clay Spanish tile barrel style roof like Koreans have and we are not living near the water.
That beetle is a Japanese beetle! They are invasive and have been destroying Halifax , especially so this year. If you noticed that many of the trees / flowers / bushes leaves’ look like lace, it’s because they’re eating literally everything! Lol.
