    Hey David I just want to leave this comment. My name is Eduardo, from Brazil, and I was since a child a fan of motorsports. But yeah reality here is pretty rough, but now at 25, my company is starting to pay off and I find myself in the position to maybe start racing for real, in the very basic tiers, maybe in two years time. This is awesome but I felt insecure, feeling too old to start. Never had a wheel until this year also.
    But then I found your channel, and knowing a bit of your journey, and especially now that you are actually a professional racer (congrats!) gives me so much fucking hope and motivation.
    I've been organizing my schedule and been training the most I can the last three months, doing my best to eat healthier and exercise since I am going to be competing with much younger and more experienced folk. By little I am getting better but there is such a long way to go. But i have decided for once to give it a shot and pursue this dream, even if I can never be that good, I want to be the best I can, and you are a part of my motivation.
    So thank you very much Dave, for real. You being here does a great deal for me.

    Great to see someone in the know validating the advancements made in physics. As for your comments on the online. They already announced a looong time ago (I think early access 0.6 - 0.7 era) that the costs of running such a service is way too high.
      The CP races are going in the right direction tho. The ones I have joined the last couple of days were pretty much full (with 3-4 splits) and the racing was great. Good thing they decided to put them on a schedule so everyone knows when they start.

    I think you've missed the fact that Kunos have added to ACC the daily scheduled races. So now you can indeed start up ACC and have some races. There are 3 daily races, set at the rush hours for the game, 3 splits currently. They do require a minimum of 70SA which means that people first have to get that rating up through safe driving. Also they nerfed farming of it in single player, which effectively results in cleaner races in public multiplayer anyway.
    Moreover they pointed out that they will be adjusting the amount of splits, races and what not depending on the popularity. So get that SA rating and start popping in the Competition races ;)

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  4 роки тому

      It’s hidden behind a red block until you achieve the required ratings and I think it’s limited to races in the evening. It’s a huge and positive step but let’s hope we get more in the 1.3 update.

    • @Ryu_Makkuro
      @Ryu_Makkuro 4 роки тому

      @@DavidPerel Well, the SA block is there so you don't end up racing against some mighty... unimpressive fellas so to speak. This also has a side effect on public servers when coupled with the nerf to SA gains in Single Player, such that racing there is cleaner because people can't farm back the SA quickly and easily anymore.
      The races do happen on the evening hours, mainly because those are the "rush hours" for the game, so biggest population. If you check steamdb, you'll see that the hours those races happen at are the hours where 90% of the playerbase plays. The races themselves do have varied time of day, weather, track conditions and pit rules.
      The most important thing is that they did mention they will be looking at how popular it is and will add more splits/races if necessary. So it's down to the community to now show Kunos they do have to give us more ;)

    I was waiting for this video. I totally agree with online element of the game. To put it lightly, it leaves a lot to be desired and I'm with you with iRacing and GT Sport. Those are my go-to games for multiplayer racing. These days it's been more iRacing as the racing is generally cleaner and the matchmaking is good with multiple splits, depending on the race series.
    I'm looking to take eSports racing a bit more serious after I upgrade my pedal setup to a load cell for more consistent braking, so iRacing is my choice right now. I must say I enjoy the way the GT3 cars feel in ACC more than iRacing. On top of that, I think the FFB feels a bit better in it as well, but I don't have a reference to a real GT3 car since I've never been in one.
    If ACC had a solid multiplayer with a larger player base, I'd walk away from iRacing in a heartbeat.
    As always, I appreciate your videos and I look forward to the next.

      To be honest in ACC I don’t experience any clipping. The FFB has been left to the standard settings and I think they’ve done a great job on the feedback... which I can’t say the same for iRacing which is like driving a car on mute 😂 I’ll take a look at the ACC settings and see if the feedback improves by turning down the FFB. But I think it’s good.

      Compared to iRacing I wouldn’t agree, to me ACC has the most accurate grip levels compared to real life however it does suffer with braking, that’s one area where I would expect a bit more grip. Conversely iRacing has a lot of grip all around, possibly too much. GT Sport: not enough grip on Hard tires and too much grip on Softs.

  • @ArchOfficial
    @ArchOfficial 4 роки тому +1

    With how little flex there is in modern racecars, I'd argue it doesn't matter if there is or isn't any, because no one's actually going to tell a difference if the values are right. Placebo's pretty strong. It's not like soft roadcars where, after some point of flex, the sta-bars stop adding rate and so on, and it's something you can sense.
    Besides, all of these flex values, as are most values in the sim cars provided by devs, are generally made up. Basically nobody knows how much GT cars flex and the people who do aren't gonna share that info. So KS has, for sure, just put in imaginary values, hopefully based on some kind of logic. We have a bit of flex data for some cars.
    On the other hand, although it'll be incredibly hard to tune and the error % could easily be in the hundreds of %, even a simple flex solution would do wonders for older roadcars. It'll just be nigh-impossible to get it right, but I think it'd be better than no flex. The extremely high error % doesn't matter so much in cars like this, where there's almost none to begin with.

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  4 роки тому +1

      KS interact and communicate directly with the GT3 engineers. So they can/do get the correct values for parameters such as chassis flex. What this feature brings is a more natural feeling to the car when you hit curbs. Compared to v0.5 of ACC which felt like a plank of wood was taking off when you hit a curb this kind of subtle addition makes it feel much more natural. The details matter mate.

    • @ArchOfficial
      @ArchOfficial 4 роки тому

      @@DavidPerel No, they don't really get much of use. A bit of a myth, that. They get a bit more for ACC than for AC where they got basically nothing, but not much. A lot of it is from privateers and the like. Manuals and such. Hell, KS doesn't even have updated homologation documents last I heard. For sure they have much more than they had in AC, but like everyone else's GT cars, they're mostly guessed.
      My basis is that I've spoken to a bunch of people in the industry, and I've been developing cars for sims non-professionally as free mods for a decade or so. You hear and see some things over time.
      Originally, my post was longer, but I'm not sure I can/should in good conscience post it publicly, so we can PM if you wish to hear more. I'm just posting to bring an informed view from a different standpoint.
      I don't disagree that flex matters, if your car is accurate enough, eventually you'll want the flex just to get it better. But in super stiff cars like this; not so massive.
      Not sure what flex has to do with curbs though, I'm pretty sure this model is just a lateral spring thing. It's probably a combination of tire changes moreso than flex what you're feeling. That's what I think at least. If we could turn it on and off, it'd be easier to tell.
      PS: Does your team(s) have flex data from the manufacturer? If so, very cool.

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  4 роки тому +1

      Arch mate I think you’re wrong about the manufacture feedback as I know guys from different brands who speak directly with the head of physics at ACC. Two particular brands/teams are heavily involved in helping them go in the right direction.

    • @ArchOfficial
      @ArchOfficial 4 роки тому

      @@DavidPerel Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about. It still appears to generally be how I said it is. Although KS does, very likely, get a bit more data than independent devs do, from the same people. Not sure how much I wanna say about what people exactly, so let's leave it there.
      How much data is unclear; but it's probably not extensive because teams don't even have everything you'd need to make an "accurate" car. Although a lot of it's there, if they're willing to share. I myself have got my hands on some quite good manuals before, with springs, damper charts, packer settings etc. in them, and I know a lot of independents who have got aeromaps on their hands, so yeah, it's possible.
      Your engineers' job is to make the car faster and easier, not to develop it in a simulation, so it's unlikely they'll know things like the flex amounts or moment of inertia or anything like that. For "important" cars like this, manufacturers know, but they don't wanna exactly share it that much. ;)
      Mainly my point is that people have this idea that Porsche and Ferrari or whatever lead engineers directly go to have dinner with KS' physics lead Aris and hand him a briefcase with all of the detailed data in there, but it doesn't seem to be that way. It sure wasn't that way for AC: you can count the amount of "acceptable" cars on one hand and no racecars belong to that group IMO. Off the top of my head, the MX5 ND roadcar looks like the only car in AC that's actually even a bit like the real counterpart, lol.
      With ACC, they have narrowed the focus down, so I would at least like to believe that the cars can be more accurate.

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  4 роки тому

      Arch in AC I think you’re right but with ACC it’s a different story as Aris is working so closely with the SRO and focusing so much on GT3 cars.
      Also at the risk of diving into semantics (sorry), at least in the case of teams I race for I am dealing directly with the engineers who design and build the 488 GT3 (Michelotto, Kessel, engineers from Ferrari HQ). As I’m sure you’re aware, GT racing is customer racing, so there’s nothing stopping a manufacturer from buying a GT car from a competitor and testing them (though it’s not really necessary because of the BOP rules).
      The point being that people would be surprised how much information is shared through the paddock... and likewise to ACC.
      Anyway, regardless of all this I am glad ACC is paying attention to these details and in my opinion, and experience, the GT car I race in real life has best been replicated in ACC as opposed to iRacing or rF2.
