when you're following closely, how much are you looking at the apex/road and how much are you looking at the rear of the car ahead
that is really good question, I always wonder where to look when I've got that kind of situation in virtual racing.

I look for my reference points on the side of the track more. If you just look at the car ahead you'll be stuck at their pace... it happens to all of us.

Jesus do you get bent suspension hopping kerbs like that 😅 Boring track tho IMO, drive it in ACC and 3 and 4 is really one of the few places where overtakes can normally happen, Pro drivers rarely mess up the hairpins and leave the door open

As a motorsports enthusiast, I love building my track cars and taking it to track days. However, I have never liked watching races like F1. The shift of cameras really annoyed me. This kind of onboard plus the racing driver talking is much more satisfying and fun.

Nice video David, as a 17 year old I am trying to achieve my dream of becoming a professional rally driver. I am only just at the beginning but drivers such as you inspire me everyday and show that sims do indeed help. Keep it up :)

Been trying to get into Blancpain for a while now but struggled because I couldn't find a driver to follow. Not only are you South African, but you are also great at this thing so I should be able to start watching these races with interest from now on.

Really enjoyed this video with the narration of your race. You could really see he was holding you up on some parts of the track.
Must be awesome to race with guys where the pace is so close ..amazing! Everyone braking at the same points lap after lap, you can really get in a groove.
So in a nutshell you prefer the old school tracks...same here.
When I race at Brands GP , Thruxton or Oulton Park its much more exciting than racing at say Silverstone as the run offs are so large. ..although Silverstone is a mega circuit to drive.
Why does it look through the windshield more like a video game than assetto corsa competitione? Haha

David, I didn't know that the team made the setup for the race. I thought that pilots could give feedback about the setup and how car feels, put some cherries in the cake. Maybe this explanation, fill my doubt about the situation when 2/3 drivers use the same car, how setup is done? Team choses and it's done kkkk
We arrive with a base setup. Then we drive and provide feedback on how the car feels and the engineer will make the changes he believes are best. We work together but it’s my job to drive and his job to setup.

Q: IRL, what kind of input does the driver give to the team, if any, in setups for qualifying and race? because in sims/games, the setup options to me are sometimes an information overload - brake bias, aero values, dampers, camber, toe, bump stop, radiator opening etc etc.... irl, do you need to know all the technical bits, or do the team engineers figure what to do if you give them feedback such as 'the car understeers on exit of turn 2'?
Most of the time the engineer will listen to your feedback and make their own decisions, it’s their job and they want to excel at it. Sometimes we will recommend a setup change but mostly it’s important to give clear and accurate feedback. Saying “the car is shit” is not feedback. Saying “the car understeers on entry to tight corners” is good feedback.
As a 23 year old and always dreaming of becoming a race driver. How could I get myself in that world? Paying for a seat is really expensive. Is getting a racing license a good start? What about after that?

In the states I’ve heard a saying: “If it’s paved, race it”. It works really well when there’s not much outside the white lines that’s paved, not so much on that European track we have in the middle of Texas.
Yea in COTA unfortunately it’s a bit of a disaster when it comes to Track Limits but most US tracks are still old school enough 😁
Too much paperwork, I love it. That's how it should be, find the fastest way round the track and not the fastest way between two white lines.
I would prefer if we had real gravel run offs 🤓
This is brilliant to watch, learning loads, patients, your story also inspirational, when time search surality in GTS or instagram.
Working my best as to be a professional artist, using GTS like a new and different medium, platform also enjoying racing.
Surality, means both surreal but reality, ( your story like you said ) the art is building piecing together slowly, that's just the digital art.

Very light compared to Karting because we have power steering in GT racing 👍👍

Having the green areas available to use does this give an advantage to the cars that can fly over the curbs like the Bentley for example. With you saying g it's same for everyone which it is but I do think certain cars have an advantage. What do you think ? Being an actual driver
All cars can easily ride the green curbs, so they are not a problem. Porsche and Bentley benefit most from the orange sausage curbs though.

Depends on the event, Brands Hatch for example had a full house. Same with Zandvoort despite the rain. Spa 24 will be huge with spectators camping at the track during the event.

On a more practical note though; thanks for the teaching, it helps a lot, towards understanding what's happening out there, on the track and during a race.
Just a comment: I get the impression that your pit crew can "improve" a bit, as your team seem to negate your hard work in improving track position and after a pitstop, your car comes out way down, from where you were running, excluding shuffling of positions, during the pit window. Hope I make myself clear in what I'm trying to convey. I mean , consider car 11; wow, their chsnge around times are excellent!

It’s because in Pro-Am you have to wait an extra 10s in the pits. It’s not up to our pit crew, in fact if we didn’t have that enforced waiting time I think we would do the fastest stops on the grid besides WRT Audi.

In real life it depends on the track and the conditions but I cannot share the exact numbers on social media

About 2/3rds through it appears that you adjust the aircon, I've always wondered how effective the in car airflow devices are? Are they just for show or do they really cool you down?
They work so-so. I put my hand on it to feel some cool air and move it away from my eyes. But generally the AC is not that great. HAIIIIIIYE MY BROSKI.

The faster you go the better it can be, also the inside wheels are "unloaded" so they actually take much less of a beating than you would think (they're still aggressive though).
