Thank you so much for making this video. It’s the off-season so I’m looking to get better going into my freshman season where I can hopefully earn a spot on varsity. Variability is something that I haven’t previously had in any of my workouts because I was just doing the same stuff everyday. Since ballhandling is something that I need to get better on I didn’t realize that I needed to add different components to it instead of just doing basic things not moving. So thank you for this and hopefully I’ll start to improve much for than I previously had.

I am trying to work on my catch and shoot and moving shooting with pressure, but I don't have anyone skilled to apply the pressure/play defense on me. What would you reccomend?
yo, thanks for the video. this could not have come at a better time. I'm a 14-year-old kid who wants to go to the NBA when he's older, I decided that's what I wanted to do with my life just a year ago. I tried to make the JV team for school and failed, and after playing another year of modified basketball I decided to try again and practice every chance I got, but now watching this, I realize I wasn't doing it right. Also, I'm in a cast for 5 weeks due to a broken wrist, so thanks to this video, I can better plan for the summer to hit the ground running when I get my cast off on July 17th. Thank you

Yooo thanks bro ima use this, it’s almost summer break so ima have a lot of free time and I plan on practicing a lot of basketball because I’m just average rn and I wanna become better, because I rlly wanna take it to the pros
don’t do things with the expectation of getting to the pros. especially if you’re an average player in an average area. get better for the sake of improvement and discipline and maybe play college ball if you end up being really good. basketball is probably the hardest sport to make it far in and the height and athleticism standard is very high. i’m not trying to bring you down just want you to have the right reasons to get better and maybe you make it pro off the work but if you don’t still continue for the love of the game
Tysm and I have a question. I'm training at high speeds because I need to get comfortable with that and I'm wondering what you think. I will pushing myself, almost messing up every time and when I shoot i will try to shoot quicker with good form and act like there is a defender. What are your thoughts?
that is great, practice training at all different speed too though, full speed, slower speeds, slow to quick shots, etc want to work on the whole spectrum of speeds
Thx for replying i never get any. I have one more. I barely have people to play against and I would act like I'm in a game or 1v1. I use my imagination and try to score different ways every time. What are your thoughts on this?
Well ,sum you can do is pressure urself by saying : well if i dont make 2 threes in a row,im sprinting once...this way,you are going to put yourself in a tough situation like in a game + learn how to shoot when tired
i'm not sure i entirely understand. if you're supposed to focus on super specific things, how are you able to cover a wide variety of things if you're also supposed to stay consistent and not switch up your workouts? this is not a criticism, i'm just wondering.
Growth is hard. Maintenance is easy. Focus on one skill, perfect it. Then do the bare minimum to maintain it and move on to focusing on a different skill. Only focus on one skill at a time
It’s like the gym, bro, you don’t go to the gym hit legs on Monday legs on Tuesday legs on Wednesday and legs on Thursday and Friday. You’re not going to go to the gym and hit barbell squats on Monday and then hit. Bulgarian split squats on Tuesday and and then go again Wednesday to hit hip thrust.

Do you think this even applies to younger kids? I train some 4th-6th graders and it feels like just getting them doing the basics like ball handling, spot shooting and finishing is a good start along with some situational 1 on 1 at the end.
I think you can improve that a lot, there are better ways to elicit improvement than that. dribble tag instead of stationary dribbling, on the move shooting and more live work
For this, I need to get my shooting great, like off-the-dribble shooting, pull-up J's, etc,. Also, my handle isn't great and I need to train that extensively to be able to score
If I want to get 500 makes a day and it takes long because I have to rebound myself but also want to add variability like you said, what would you suggest that I do so that I can get 500 makes while those are quality so that I can maximize my shooting improvement.
Don’t need 500 makes especially if you want quality. You are just going for a number to check a box, if you could get 250-300 and get better results (which you would) aim for that as opposed to a trivial amount of shots
