I have 2021 rst with the 2.7 and have been amazed...2k price reduction vs 5.3 and it has more torque during nearly all points of normal driving of 1500rpm to 4k rpm. Getting 19 city and 24 highway and get to hear a nice turbo whistle every time I tap throttle. Since 2019 to 21 they actually upped towing capacity to > 9k lbs since it cools so well. Hard to think there will be all these terrible reliability issues when they modeled the entire motor after its 3.0 diesel brother...just saying if you're not towing all the time and drive the truck as a daily vehicle mostly doing hauling...its a great option...2021 rst off the lot for under 40k in CT. the bigger question is why even buy a truck if a 4 is all you need.....the 4 will not last as long if you do actually use it as a truck....there will be a lot of these bought and then traded .....
You have to factor in what the truck will be used for. If your hauling weight at the trucks max then ya probably the 4 isn’t what you want ...but if you’re commuting a lot and carrying loads once and awhile this is perfectly fine. Just like the Ridgeline (yes I brought it up!) is still plenty for what 80-90% of what people will use their 1/2 tons for, if that truck is not sufficient then clearly you need to be in a different class of truck all together ( 2500 +)

does anyone know the answer to this auto stop question? I occasionally travel the interstates and especially on I95 I get stuck. Sometimes I crawl and sometimes I will sit there for 20 minutes or more and not move an inch. My Titan truck does not have auto stop (05) model and it is 90 degrees plus and the motor is purring and I have the A/c going. If I had auto stop , the engine is STOPPED and have my foot on the brake waiting to inch forward how does the air conditioning keep me cool with the engine stopped? Can't figure that one out. Why would you not kill the battery. Compressor is running, etc.
Great question! In our early start stop vehicles, like the 2016 Malibu, the A/C would start blowing out hot air (which is crazy). It seems they now have them programmed to keep the A/C flowing. Also, if and when it does go into auto stop it is only for limited time (seems to only be a minute or two) before turning back on... there is also an Off button in the Silverado so you can deactivate it all together each time you start the truck.
@@DaveBsellsChevy Thanks. This is not a criticism so please don't take it that way but doesn't it seem if you just didn't even have this system that the extra gas used is so negligible that it probably only adds up toprobably less than a dollar a tankful. I don't know, just seems it really isn't needed.
Yea, I'd agree the amount of saving at the pump is probably very minimal but it helps manufacturers hit their federal CAFE standards. Every extra mile per gallon from EPA helps raise the average
I love the fart button~ all 4 windows drop at the same time. Traditionally you could only drop your OWN window & all the fart come at you, so it doesn't help.
I have that truck, gets good gas mileage if you stay within 3 miles of speed limit but the auto stop vibrate the truck when it stops, very irritating. I had the 5.7 EcoBoost with 212000+ miles company truck and they replaced it with this one. I never got this kind of milage but it was fun to drive, think I will miss it.
The auto-stop is terrible in the south during the summer....100 degrees 90% humidity and that engine shuts off, then your AC gets warm, and it takes a few minutes to cool back down. I can see it being ok in the winter because your eninge continues to put off heat when it shuts off. I believe you wpuldnt like it if you lived in a hot climate
I had a 2016 Silverado LT with the 4.3 engine and it was a gutless beast lol. Super slow. I just got a 2020 Z71 LTZ with the 5.3. I test drive the V6 first and then decided to go for the V8 for the towing and I love hearing the V8 roar. It’s nice in sport mode too. I like how Dave makes it more about the customer and a relationship vs a transaction. I had a very bad sales experience when I got the 2016 Silverado. I was 18 and they weren’t nice. I decided to go to a different dealership and they were awesome. Just like Dave pretty much. They showed me any truck I wanted to see and they gave me what I wanted for the trade. I still wish Dave sold cars in Minnesota.
Nothing beats the feeling of running your engine late at night hoping your neighbors don’t complain next thing in the morning ...... GM honestly triggered me with the v4 🤦🏿♂️
I'm scared of the new diesels with that def crap. That has diesel technology in that engine. My semi is a straight 6 cylinder with a turbo. Pulls 80,000. Because of the turbo. It pulls about 7,000. Pounds. That's gd impressive guys! Homerun gm!
At the time of this vid, it would have been about 2.50 a gallon regular in southern ny, right now its about 2.95. Most people who cry about start stop still think engines work as if they had carburetors. What I don't like about this engine (maybe its the trans idk) is that at 60mph you're at 1400rpm. My 2005 buick with a 3.6L 4 speed at 60 will ride at about 1200 rpm, and I know it would go lower if the trans had a 5th gear higher up. So unless the 8 speed doesn't have a good high gear, which i doubt, this thing needs to chill at a very high rpm in order to maintain conservative highway speeds. Combine that with the DFM of the V8's and I don't see the benefits of this engine in any meaningful way
@@bendino9016 comment is 3 years old. With that said the thing has three overdrive gears, the fact the 0.65~ gear (I forget what the 8 speeds tallest gear is) isn't enough to get the RPMS down to like 1200 when just cruising is sad. The diesel and the V8's have a 3.23 which gets them cruising at 1200 ish. Mind you all three of those engines with that 3.23 run circles around this thing. And if you want it they offer the 3.73 with both V8's and the diesel, which make better towing gears than this.
A beautiful truck but a lot of that stuff is too "gimmicky" for me. I have a BASIC 2005 Nissan Titan, crew cab (bought new) and I use it as a truck. It has v8 auto, 2WD, with tow mode,a/c (put in a Sirius satellite radio), cruise control , hitch with brake controller and bedliner. That's it and I love it. I guess the wheel tilts but never used it as it was ok from the dealer. I haul compost for the wife, all manner of stuff from the Home Depot, moved a whole condo worth of furniture, yard debris, etc. People won't do that with a 40 grand truck. This is more like a luxury car than a truck. Not a knock on the truck but there are pick up trucks and then there are pick up trucks if you get my meaning. Looks and rides like a great truck but not a truck for me.
Glad the Nissan is serving you well!! This truck was the LT, they do make a custom and work truck model which cuts some of the extras as well as the price
@@DaveBsellsChevy That definitely would be what I would want. I grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York so I just got it in my blood what a "real" pickem' up truck should be. By the way the 5.6L engine in the Titan is one tough dude. Double overhead cam and pulls really, really well. Very durable too. You can't beat a V8.
Peak torque at that low rpm just seems like a bill for a new engine right outside of the warranty to me... Seems like your getting every drop of engine out of this thing at all times, and i bet it costs a rediculous price for a replacement engine.
Enjoy your videos, while the 4cyl Silverado has plenty of power all of the real world reviews that I have seen has shown that 5.3 V8 gets better fuel economy than the 4cyl which totally defeats the purpose of the 4cyl.
Travis Williams those so called real world reviews are pure BS! The testers must of loved the power of the 4 cylinder engine so they kept flooring it instead of driving it normally. Other real world tests suggest this engine getting 24 miles a gallon by TFL. on their test loop.
Purple Heart that is patently false! Going 70 miles an hour you are NOT using the turbo to sustain this speed unless you are going up a steep grade or towing.

Thanks for watching!! Lease deals are different for many reasons such as where you live, GM buying programs, incentives but here is a link to Chevy's page of national lease ads which will give you a good idea. www.chevrolet.com/current-deals#?filterby=all&requestedPostalcode=07039&postalcode=07039&open-panel=silverado:silverado-1500-new
Dave B sells Chevy Thanks for the reply. Ur right their are a lot of variables. I appreciate the link as well. 👍
Awesome review. From Abu Dhabi, with love!
Thanks! My video reaching people across the world is great!
Anyone have any updates on how reliable this 2.7 is? Any issues specially after warranty expires
Good questions
does anyone know the answer to this auto stop question?
@@DaveBsellsChevy Thanks. Your response explains it perfectly. This must be the reason all manufacturers do this.
In Texas that package it is called Texas edition
How much does it cost to fill it up? And how often do you have to do so?
24 gallons.
Credit and cash is the same price in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and it is $2.15 a gallon
cheapest I've seen so far... You guys may be under 2 bucks soon!
Nice truck. 4cyl not too bad at all! Not my cup of tea though. Nothing beats a V8 truck with a exhaust system. Smile every time you hit the gas!
What are the mechanics saying about it?
nothing bad as of yet... actually one of our techs and a service writer both bought one.
@@DaveBsellsChevy Cool.....I own a mustang ecoboost and am very happy with it.
I love the fart button~ all 4 windows drop at the same time. Traditionally you could only drop your OWN window & all the fart come at you, so it doesn't help.
lol
Haha nice
@@DaveBsellsChevy Dave, you have to call in The Fart Button now when you do test drives.
What are gas mileage numbers between the 2.7 vs. 5.3?
East suburbs of Cleveland Ohio has is at around $ 2.20 February 29 2020
Arizona $2.39 a gallon regular
That motor is not in the Colorado, the gas mileage would be 25 to 30 mpg which is too good.
I got one,and i love it.
Awesome!!
I agree traded a diesel for mine Best driving Truck I've ever had...
I would be willing to lease a truck like this.🤔
Go for it! You'll love the Silverado
Fun fact the new 2.7L 2021s have been officially rated for over 9000lbs of towing!
Crazy ain’t it, I got a 2020 RST 6.2L with the same rating
Right now in Windsor Ontario we played $5.09 a gallon.
WOW... we are currently half that at $2.53
that's what i need to know i don't need the v8 i just like the look and i have the efficiency with that v4
4 cylinder not a v engine
The auto-stop-start button needs to have a memory function so you don't have to turn it off every time you restart the truck.
I agree that it should default the position the driver wants it in however... at least there is a button
Something to break
you want some cheese with that whine? Yea, it's so annoying to reach over and touch the button to deactivate the auto stop. NOT.
You can buy the AUTOSTOP ELIMINATOR autostopeliminator.com for around $70-80
Which dealer do you work at ? I'm local and would like to give you visit !!!
I'm at Schumacher of Livingston
These are fast.
I was very impressed the first time I drove it
I have that truck, gets good gas mileage if you stay within 3 miles of speed limit but the auto stop vibrate the truck when it stops, very irritating. I had the 5.7 EcoBoost with 212000+ miles company truck and they replaced it with this one. I never got this kind of milage but it was fun to drive, think I will miss it.
Thank you for your knowledge.
Glad I can help
It sounds like car lol i love how technology works never thought that such a big truck would use such a small engine
I agree, it sounds so funny to hear a full sized pick up truck has a 2.7L in it.
You can just that off on this Truck, and yes it’s a terrible feature first button I push after starting.
They of put the 10 speed or 6 why did they put the horrible 8 speed?
Gas is cheap who needs this. I will keep my 5.3
Ill keep my 6.2
5.7. The beast that will not die.
I'm doing the 4 cylinder because of insurance but at the moment gas is 2.70 a gallon so yeah
Gas where I live is still 3.98 and has been all year.
Well done!! I'm sold on this engine. Thank you...
I just got back from driving one again. It is really impressive!
Great review
Thanks Chris😊
I'm getting mine 4×4 rst package crew cab for about 34k. Ask me where? Best deal in the country I bet?
Where did you get it?
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you are loving your Silverado
What dealership was nice? Im in the market and am near Mauer but may go to different dealership if better?
0-60 6.8 seconds-6.2 liter 6.6 seconds
I want one of those!!
I want 1 of those!!
Nothing beats the feeling of running your engine late at night hoping your neighbors don’t complain next thing in the morning ...... GM honestly triggered me with the v4 🤦🏿♂️
Great video
I got one as a loaner and for the first 200 miles I thought it was a 5.3 MAYBE a six cylinder I was surprised when I opened the hood
It has good power right! If you don't tow anything that engine is a good option and will save you $1500 bucks
I'm scared of the new diesels with that def crap. That has diesel technology in that engine. My semi is a straight 6 cylinder with a turbo. Pulls 80,000. Because of the turbo. It pulls about 7,000. Pounds. That's gd impressive guys! Homerun gm!
Def emissions kills diesel engines just a matter of time
I just hit 200,000 with my semi this week. No engine issues yet. *fingers crossed*
is the turbo spool sound annoying? you said you could hear it with the windows up .. i imagine its pretty loud and annoying iwth the windows down.
No, you can hear it if you listen for it.. not overwhelming at all
At the time of this vid, it would have been about 2.50 a gallon regular in southern ny, right now its about 2.95.
Combine that with the DFM of the V8's and I don't see the benefits of this engine in any meaningful way
its probably the rear end 3.42. do you really want the 3.08?
@@bendino9016 comment is 3 years old. With that said the thing has three overdrive gears, the fact the 0.65~ gear (I forget what the 8 speeds tallest gear is) isn't enough to get the RPMS down to like 1200 when just cruising is sad. The diesel and the V8's have a 3.23 which gets them cruising at 1200 ish. Mind you all three of those engines with that 3.23 run circles around this thing. And if you want it they offer the 3.73 with both V8's and the diesel, which make better towing gears than this.
does the 4 cylinder have 4x4?!?!
Dave B sells Chevy Your reply does not match my question. Is this a copy and paste job?
Again, does the 4 cylinder Silverado have 4x4? Yes or no?
@@515ventures3 ooops, that's wierd that reply was for a different comment... to answer your question, yes you can get the 2.7L in 4x4
Dave B sells Chevy Okay thanks
Only crazy ppl complain about auto stop start. Btw appreciate GM for giving us this tiny motor option.
Lol why? Stop start sucks in real world use.
Keep comments respectful. That's difficult to do when dealing with a car salesperson.
9300 pounds pulling capacity... they upped it.
Yup, that they did
Peak torque at that low rpm just seems like a bill for a new engine right outside of the warranty to me... Seems like your getting every drop of engine out of this thing at all times, and i bet it costs a rediculous price for a replacement engine.
Mileage hwy/city?
18 city 22 hwy
Solid video!
Thanks!
I feel like this would be a good engine, I'd buy one, wish it has the 5.3 sound but I bet it would be great
Enjoy your videos, while the 4cyl Silverado has plenty of power all of the real world reviews that I have seen has shown that 5.3 V8 gets better fuel economy than the 4cyl which totally defeats the purpose of the 4cyl.
Yes, I agree the fuel mileage is so close on both engines. The 4cylinder would just save a few bucks on the purchase price. Thanks for watching!
Highway MPG is less probably because the engine is always in boost or enrichment to keep the cats cool...
@@DaveBsellsChevy a 4 cly pulling all that weight really isn't saving much gas
Fuel mileage?
19 city 22 hwy
Im gonna feed in some Premium fuel for her tomorrow to see if I can get an higher mpg than the standard 20 mpg in the city.. Surprisingly after almost 514 miles so far, I have maintained a consistent 21-22 mpg in the city driving arena :) - So happy with my Chevy Silverado 2019 2.7 2WD LT ;) - For City Slickers wanting the Cowboy Stylin and Truckin ;) - This is the future of Truck Engines.. Turbo all the way and Active Fuel Management! Thanks Chevy!!
This is great to hear! Thanks for sharing!
Dave B sells Chevy absolutely! Most welcome :).
That price difference is insane. Lots of places give you a discount for cash, but 14 cents a gallon? Seems a bit ridiculous.
plus we cannot even pump it ourselves!
I don’t pay for fuel. I drive a Tesla but still have a soft spot for trucks.
Right there with you.. between my Volt and Bolt I have barely have to stop to get fuel.... What are your thoughts of Cyber Truck??
Dave B sells Chevy Cyber Truck? I’m all in! I can’t wait to see the final product.
@@incarswetrust me too.. at first glance I had the "what the hell" reaction but it grew on me real quick
Paid $2.23 for regular yesterday at Costco. Milwaukee Wi.
Nice, We're currently in the $2.40's
Not a fan of auto stop. At a red light the car behind me misjudged and came up super fast. Mashed the gas and got away just in time. With the delay of auto stop I would have been in a serious accident. I prefer total control of any vehicle I'm driving thank you.
We all miss those gas prices
