      For reference my 2018 f-150 5.0L crewcab had a msrp of 52k. I walked out the door for 36k. So ya my truck is in the same price range as this chevy and i have a hell of lot more truck. Better power, better towing, better payload, better sound. I primarily do shorter drives less 45 min and ive got 21 mpg. Never did a road trip yet but i see no doubt that i could see over 22 mpg. Slightly shy of this chevy. I see no comparison whatsoever.

    Just traded a 2015 Ram EcoDiesel for this 2020 2.7 turbo Silverado 4WD It has been 10 weeks now I will say I have Had Diesel trucks for Last 30 years most of them a Ram Cummins , and this 2.7 Turbo drives like a Diesel for sure with excellent Torque of 348 Lb. Ft. and also 310 HP. but much better on the short trips Than the Ecodiesel It did not like short trips in cold weather, I Just Towed a trailer at 7,000 Lbs on 250 mile trip down and back up and the Truck did fine and that Includes going up Jellico Mountain on Ky/Tenn state line I averaged 13.5 per gallon over all and The same trip in EcoDiesel averaged 13.8 per gallon and at time the price of diesel was $0.65 more per gallon, And when it comes to the Longevity of the 2.7 Turbo Silverado I have a 100,000 mile B/B warranty and also a Lifetime Power-train warranty Just in case some of you are correct in the comments, I will update with any issues. Looking back at this. For 2021, GM upped the tow rating to the same as a 5.3 at just over 9000 lbs. For 2022, Chevy dropped the 4.3 V6 and has made the 2.7T the base engine for WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT and RST. It is officially the most powerful base engine offered in the full size truck market, and not only that, the 2022 refresh trucks get the 2.7 HO with a bump to 420 ft.lbs torque, keeping the claim of most powerful base 1/2 ton truck engine. Can't wait to see how the HO version drives.

    You should do a mash up comparison between the fords 2.7 and the chevys 2.7 comparing towing, mpg, driving impressions, updated 0-60, ect. The video that you guys uploaded “comparing” the two is just how fast 0-60 the Chevy is to the 2015 2.7 F150 with an old power train, a lot has changed in the fords 2.7 for 2018-2019 models with port/direct injection, higher torque output, and most importantly the 10 speed. I’m willing to bet that at least 60% of all 1/2 ton truck buyers will opt for one of these two engine choices since these two trucks have the ability to handle 95% of actual towing/hauling needs for people.

Two things sold me on the smaller units. First, it is easier to get around in tight quarters whether hunting/fishing or just running around town. Second, the initial price was much less.

    I have zero brand loyalty and currently own a Frontier Pro4x. So I've been looking at the Ridgeline because my kids are getting bigger and I need more backseat. What I was caught up on was, no low range transfer case. Since I've used mine on the Frontier like twice in 12 years, I decided I was OK with that. I also came full circle on the unibody and front drive. Now that Chevy has this engine available in a full size truck, I'm really looking at the Silverado. I guess my next question will be price because it seems to fill all my other needs. Thanks for the good vid! BTW, wish Nissan would come out with a new Frontier, I'd probably buy it...

      The feds would never allow it. Emissions regulations are making it very hard to sell trucks with pushrod engines anymore. That's why GM is using DFM instead of AFM, a 4-banger instead of the 4.3 V6, and Ram is using chintzy E-torque Hemi's. It's also why Ford makes so many 2.7 ecoboosts instead of loading dealer lots with 3.5eb F-150's and also why Ford is actively trying to kill off V8 F-150's altogether.

I do think these trucks will get hefty discounts in the future and will be a good truck for people that like full size trucks but could get by with a smaller truck. The engine felt really smooth, will it last 300K+ like a 5.3 or 6.2, well all I can say is I saw a lot of Cavaliers do well over 200K and you have to think engines are way better designed and built now. Same here. These "driver assists" take the fun and challenge out of driving. It is like the trailer backing system on the F-150, backing a trailer is a rite of passage! When a man backs a trailer, all others in the area must stop to watch and see if it is a real man driving or not. We pride ourselves on our backing skills! That's how we get the ladies....one arm on the wheel and the other hangin out the window while backing that trailer up with no ground guide or cameras!

    Yes even though it says it can tow, it probably can until it blows the turbo. It would probably be more reliable if they went with dual over head cam with 5 valves per cylinder and would get almost as much fuel economy and power rather than being forced induction with it's current set up.

    Very impressed with the low RPM on the hyway. Milage is real good when compared to say my last 4 Ford Rangers I owned. Considering it’s a full sized truck. I think it would go over with the public better if it was a small inline 6 with the turbo........
    Especially if the tow rating was a bit higher..

    • @mesomemore97
      @mesomemore97 2 роки тому +1

      How about a small inline six with no turbo. Throw in a standard transmission to boot. No carpet. No frills. Put a stopper in the floorboard that you can pull out. Then hose out the inside with a garden hose. No wifi. But a pto with some awsome powertool attachments would be nice.

      Joey Covarrubias that’s weird,Chevy has cylinder deactivation recalls in which the engine consumed massive amounts of oil,Big recall their,or the motor mount recall they had. Oh and how about the tailgate recall Chevy had,can’t even produce a well made tailgate for their customers when their engine takes a shit from seizing up from lack of oil.

    $49K to get a 4 cylinder? Might be useful to offer a comparison of how much it costs to go up the next engine package, ie, how much more would it cost to buy the LT trim with a V8.

      I just bought a 5.3l rst z71 crew cab and paid 40k. The MSRP isnt what you pay. This truck you should be able to get for 36-37 right now. The dealer I got my truck from had one listed for that.

    Good review. But I'm an old school guy who likes the v8 non turbo in my 2017 Silverado that I bought new. For most people who just want to drive around in a big truck and seldom demand payloads or heavy towing, this truck will do just fine and save gas too.
