    For those that are technically inclined, the effects loop is buffered on the send but not on the return so keep that in mind when you are running long cables.
    Also the compressor knob changes the ratio only. The attack and release times as well as recovery gain are fixed. It is placed before the EQ section.
    The crunch channel goes through a high pass filter and effects only those frequencies leaving the low frequencies alone. So you get a nice distorted top end but the low end still punches.
    The hints section of the owners manual is very detailed actually! Cheers!

    As further proof of this amp - I just saw The Summer Slaughter Tour (death metal extravaganza), and Derek Boyer of Suffocation was using this amp. The other bands were using Mesa, Ampeg, Aguilar, etc. and the Peavey held its own....

    I actually own one of these and run it through a mesa 412 powerhouse. It's definitely got a good sound to it, and the bright switch really makes the clean that much cleaner. For the price it's fairly decent if you're into that kinda thing

    Nice. I love the clean tone. I am not a fan a a distorted bass tone (of ANY amp) except maybe Lemmy of Motorhead. That bass cab you are running through...are those 10" or 12"? I once saw a video that stated that 12" is the biggest size speaker you should use because 15" and 18" are not capable of reproducing the frequencies that a bass guitar can make. If you look at a graphic EQ, the range that the bass uses is from 30 Hz up to about the 700 Hz, possibly up to 1.6 KHz. If you look at the frequency response of 15" & 18" speakers, they run strong at 8 Hz and it is a flat line up to about 220 Hz then the line really takes a nose dive and does not even make it to the 700 Hz range. So, all those big speakers are really good for is the kick drum on the PA system speakers, and that is about it. This would make a great topic for you to expand on, covering all speaker sizes from 6" to 18" and what you should expect. Cheers mate!

    I always wonder how an amp can be said to produce a continuous 1KW of (audio) power when its power consumption is listed at 150W. (see @1:43) Of course, the capacitors inside will sustain a higher output than input for some time, but even if it was 100% efficient, it'd need some pretty huge capacitance to sustain 1000W output for any amount of time on 150W of input power.
    Or is this the first perpetuum mobile? :P

    Y al final me di cuenta, que era la pantalla y las vibraciones que dessagusto alguna placa interna de cabezal y sonaba a poco volumen con el potenciómetro alto. ahora la tengo pendite de llebar a reglar .
    La pregunta es: ¿ cómo lo hacéis cunando pones saturada, como el vídeo para q no le pase nada ? ¿ O suponedo que la pusiramos en un escenario grade encima de una pantalla con más watios que la a tengo gracias !!! Espero respuesta

    Man, he's really good at that. -- 1000W seems kind excessive. What's the point? I know very little about bass amps. Do they need to be more powerful or something? In any proper gigging setting, it's going to be miked anyway.

    • @chrisofnottingham
      @chrisofnottingham 8 років тому

      For pub rock, to compete with an unamplified drum kit a guitar can get away with maybe 20W or 30W but with a normal bass sound you probably want more like 100W available. And you have to bear in mind that in terms of perception, 10 times more power doesn't make it sound 10 times as loud, it's kind of like making the volume knob go to 14.
      Having said all that, 1000W is a bit much, it is the sort of thing that only bands with a road crew do.

    • @216trixie
      @216trixie 8 років тому

      It's a bass... lol but I do know what you mean. It sounds a bit like it has a cold. It might be that he was afraid to put the cab at a respectable volume, so the bass comes into the mic more clearly than the treble.
