For those that are technically inclined, the effects loop is buffered on the send but not on the return so keep that in mind when you are running long cables.
Also the compressor knob changes the ratio only. The attack and release times as well as recovery gain are fixed. It is placed before the EQ section.
The crunch channel goes through a high pass filter and effects only those frequencies leaving the low frequencies alone. So you get a nice distorted top end but the low end still punches.
The hints section of the owners manual is very detailed actually! Cheers!
I'll never get tired of the shatter noise every time someone puts down a coffee
As further proof of this amp - I just saw The Summer Slaughter Tour (death metal extravaganza), and Derek Boyer of Suffocation was using this amp. The other bands were using Mesa, Ampeg, Aguilar, etc. and the Peavey held its own....
I think the only thing we can accurately determine from this is that Dave grooves
and when he sings, Dave growl
... wait
+Bebop XD XD
When he said it was 9 pounds I had to double take to realise he was talking about the weight xD
Same
I wish it was 9 pounds in price
I thought he was talking about something else. If you know what I mean?
Still super cheap for the weight, power, and the variety of tones it produces.
Rule #2 is invalid for Dave. SMG viewers will understand.
Isn't it rule #2? :p
haha
you had one job
Undead Osprey fixed it
+M0odez whats rule #1 I cant remember?
Dave is like the little brother in Dorje, hes a little underwhelming on the surface but when it really boils down to it he knows his shit
That drive is incredible
Whoa, a comment about the rig?
the world needs more dave vids! well done buddy!
Title should be "Does It Dave?"
I've had one of these since before most shops had them and I love mine. It's a beautiful beast of an amp. I also made a demo video of it. I like your breakdown of the features a lot. Cheers Brotha!
That bass and amp are a beautiful combination!!
YES! Been wating for another "Does It Groove?"
I own a Mark 4 peavy head and a peavey cabinet 1x15 and after watching this I think I'll buy this thing, is so cheap and sounds very good, and also a bigger cabinet that can go with that amount of power
Crunchy chords-sublime
Love it ... it dose groove and dave is bae
Dave knows his stuff
The glass smash sound effects always make me chuckle.
Dave should do the bass reviews at Andertons.
Dave.
Dave
Yes, branch out! Briljant idea
Dave
Dave?
Pretty amazing for the price. Nice review.
I actually own one of these and run it through a mesa 412 powerhouse. It's definitely got a good sound to it, and the bright switch really makes the clean that much cleaner. For the price it's fairly decent if you're into that kinda thing
I just picked up the Minimega myself. I am running it through a GK NEO 412. Pretty happy with it so far.
Dave can make anything sound groovy. Awesome playing!
UNEXPECTED MORNING WOOOOOOOD
Duuuuuuuude!!! That would be an epic amp to have in a studio! That's just nasty awesome!
I swear... thats one awesomely good bass amp ive ever heard.
Dave the Groove Masta as always. Awesome demo.
😉
Listening it using earpiece while watching this video ,damn that's what I'm talkin about! Love e depths & tone pure badass amp!
Sounded pretty good to me. I've had my eyes on this amp for about two years prior to its release.
Yeah it definitely grooves ! I would love to have this amp, but before I need to know to play bass like you :P
Dave

Dave
Yeah bro good review . I'm still somewhat of a beginner as bassist at least but I'm sold on the Mega mini series . You have good cabinet in this is all you need . Other than a tuner and a couple of other pedals that is ;) . Good review .
awesome review! Thank you very much! great audio too! :D
For a second I thought it was only £9
Haha I'd buy four
Dave grooves, that MLB grooves, the Ashdown isn't bad either. But that Peavy seems like it was made to be loud, versatile and cheap, which isn't the smartest combo to go for imho.
Finally some Bass!
Dave
bass blows..
Derek Wilson Dream on
Daves the man, I love his bass playing.
It grooves and grinds. Sounds great.
Super pleased to see Dave though!!!
YAY Dave
Coffee is always wise...think that has to be my new motto!
Dave.
For me?? Most definitely! For a solid state amp it sounds monster! \m/
Nice. I love the clean tone. I am not a fan a a distorted bass tone (of ANY amp) except maybe Lemmy of Motorhead. That bass cab you are running through...are those 10" or 12"? I once saw a video that stated that 12" is the biggest size speaker you should use because 15" and 18" are not capable of reproducing the frequencies that a bass guitar can make. If you look at a graphic EQ, the range that the bass uses is from 30 Hz up to about the 700 Hz, possibly up to 1.6 KHz. If you look at the frequency response of 15" & 18" speakers, they run strong at 8 Hz and it is a flat line up to about 220 Hz then the line really takes a nose dive and does not even make it to the 700 Hz range. So, all those big speakers are really good for is the kick drum on the PA system speakers, and that is about it. This would make a great topic for you to expand on, covering all speaker sizes from 6" to 18" and what you should expect. Cheers mate!
I'm not sure whether I like this Peavey or the Orange Crush bass amps they reviewed on All About the Bass more. They're both so good.
Peavey are always great value for money!!
And yes, it does freaking groove!
That bass looks glorious!
I wanted this amp years ago, but the delays were so ridiculous I couldn't wait any longer
Dude! U are an insane bassist!!!
Dave. Dave. Dave. Dave.
Loving the ML-Dave bass!
Seems like a decent piece of gear to me. I use a TC 750 rh and am becoming a big fan of those kind of smaller class D I think? amps for bass anyway.
Dave.
I have this amp paired with a peavey pro 410 loaded with eminence legend bp102, it shakes the house set on 5.
You are the man, Dave!
Does it groove
Let's see but first
I'm gonna talk for 29 minutes then okay a minute melodic etude
Then blabber some more and finally
Slap da bass
Does it groove?
Does he groove.
You see my point?
This was 5 years ago. What was I doing 5 yrs ago, oh yeah killing it.
Love the Wolstenhome!!
Dave!!!!
Daaaaaave!
It grooves.
Hey Rob, can you please do a review of the Schecter Omen series? Much appreciated, rock on!
peavy is an awesome brand it gets a bad rep but if you like it heavy always try peavy
finally a new does it groove
Love the sound! but I prefer my tc-electronic BH550, maybe you should find out if it grooves (for you)? I already know it does! :)
Hey Rob! could you do a vid on what songs you would recommend to be fundamental to learn? Such as to increase lick and solo ideas and techniques. Im stuck in a bit of a rut and don't have any inspiration at the moment.. :(
yes it Grooves really nice...
to he honest idk if the amo grooves but goodness sakes, Dave Hollingworth grooves...
I honestly can't tell the difference between most clean bass tones
Always a pleasure seeing/hearing you Dave but this amp is meh. Second review I've seen with totally white bread tone
EDIT: I am happy to have a purely mic'd up tone. DI tone blending in doesn't really do a live sound/tone demo justice
Hi Rob, I want to ask you what is your practice routine when you pick up the guitar? Do you jam what you feel like in the moment or do you do some exercises?
Dave lookin fresh nice
'coffee is always wise'
that kosmos knob sounds like the octave function on my zoom b2.1u pedal
the first 'sub'function
I have that top.. i own part of Daves soul
"1,000 watts RMS, not peak"....Really!!!!!?????????????? YESSSSS>>>.This is huge!!!! Every other digital amp and most B.S. specs boast Peak power......This amp can run 1,000 watts continuous with peaks of 1,500 watts...!!!!!!!Very Badasss
Does it Dave?
" it Dave pretty well!"
White Dave!
WHITE DAVE IN THE STORM
GROOVE UNTIL YOU REACH YOUR TONE
I think "Groove until you reach your TONE would be more fitting. Yet i approve :)
***** done!
Dave is beast.
People should slap dat bass more often!
Please redesign the Chapman bass without the Gumby headstock
That distorted test sounded like Tool.
Do you really have the lows completely cut and the gain and highs completely boosted on this thing?
Hey Dave! I could really use some recommendations from you or other commenters for a bass combo for a beginner bass player.
Look into some of the TC Electronic stuff. Their combos sound great and are super reasonable price wise.
did Dave use to work in gak in Brighton? I bought my first bass from a guy that looked just like him. this was 10 odd years ago mind you.
But does it Djent?
At 4:24 sounds like bullet for my valentine "her voice resides"
the cosmos b souns alot like the RATM tone that clifford had
Nice video Dave! Would you use it live?
More Does It Groove?, please.
Hope rob somehow finds his way to Canada, specifically Vancouver..if something ever requires you to lol.
I always wonder how an amp can be said to produce a continuous 1KW of (audio) power when its power consumption is listed at 150W. (see @1:43) Of course, the capacitors inside will sustain a higher output than input for some time, but even if it was 100% efficient, it'd need some pretty huge capacitance to sustain 1000W output for any amount of time on 150W of input power.
Or is this the first perpetuum mobile? :P
It grooves
David
Does it Groove? Does it deafen would be the better question for a 1kw RMS amp.
siiick
Yeah. 1000W output from 150W input... guess the labeling guy didn't give a fuck? :D
Dave!
Espero respuesta
I'd say it grooves, as much as the person playing through it.
Man, he's really good at that. -- 1000W seems kind excessive. What's the point? I know very little about bass amps. Do they need to be more powerful or something? In any proper gigging setting, it's going to be miked anyway.
Dave S Ah, I see. It's as I suspected. Thanks for that.
For pub rock, to compete with an unamplified drum kit a guitar can get away with maybe 20W or 30W but with a normal bass sound you probably want more like 100W available. And you have to bear in mind that in terms of perception, 10 times more power doesn't make it sound 10 times as loud, it's kind of like making the volume knob go to 14.
Having said all that, 1000W is a bit much, it is the sort of thing that only bands with a road crew do.
The rule is; You need 10X the power, {wattage] to Double the volume.
Sheesh. It seems like everyone knew about this but me.
Don't feel bad Paul, i was wondering the same thing lol
should've played the Seinfeld theme. actually, every bass demo should do that.
T00BR00TAL4YOU ..That bass line was performed on a keyboard.
@@dalehumphrey8765 Exactly
dave
where did all the high end go? I know it's in there somewhere. Did it get lost by any chance?
It's a bass... lol but I do know what you mean. It sounds a bit like it has a cold. It might be that he was afraid to put the cab at a respectable volume, so the bass comes into the mic more clearly than the treble.
