ENSLAVED - Fenris - Cinematic Tour 2020 (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO)

- Left-field metal luminaries Enslaved have revealed the next audiovisual gem taken from their forthcoming Cinematic Tour 2020 live releases. As part of their 30th anniversary revelries, the band has today premiered a live video for their single 'Fenris'. A classic track from their early arsenal - though black metal to its core, 'Fenris' nevertheless hinted at their kosmische obsessions that lurked behind the curtain.
This performance of 'Fenris' is taken from their upcoming live release Chronicles of the Northbound (Cinematic Tour 2020), which sees Enslaved fly through a career spanning entirely fan-voted set of favourites. It is one part of their four new live album/DVD Cinematic Tour 2020 collection due to be released on June 25th.

I wanna kiss the sound engineer's hands.
Why not his lips
@@umbigbry Because he crafted this sound engineering masterpiece with his hands.
@@cringelorddivine9337 if he can do that with his hands imagine what them lips can do 🥵🥵🥴🥴
@@umbigbry Ok that's going a bit far.
@@cringelorddivine9337 ok cringelord
3:07 made smile. The 2 OG members playing old stuff and still feeling it.
"Frost" and "Eld" are out of this world.
I’ve always loved his lower growls…the sound is most excellent.
Exactly, it touches the most on "The Watcher" track. Anger turns to melancholy sh
*The sound engineer is probably a millionaire right now.*
A metal sound engineer!? Hmm... No.
Must be Pytten.
@@silafuyang8675 It does'nt have to be Pytten.
2020 they spat out Utgard and the sound engineer was Tony Lindgren, so my guess is Tony Lindgren.
sounds great, doesnt it?
Enslaved always feels like home
I am so stoked for this release, preordered (even with exorbitant fees to ship to Taiwan) and anxious beyond belief. This is an outstanding recording and performance. Peace and prosperity to all those involved in the project and all they hold dear.
That a song as classic as this can compare to contemporary music is a testament to the true musicianship of ensalved. What a band! so beyond their time, it is a wonder to hear this now :)
Damn, I recall buying this album around 96 - more than 20 years later, it still sounds amazing with this more black metal approach they had at their beginnings.
Hearing a classic like this but in the 2020s with Håkon just jamming on organ is just 😙👌
looks like he jammed his organ on several occassions there.
My beginings of this band was below the lights but once i heard Frost is still one of my favourite albums
Awesome song by an amazing band!!! Very powerful!!!
Hail to Enslaved!!!
you cant say one bad thing about this performance/band/song. Absolute beast....
I travel back in time with this song. One of my favorites.
The best of ProgViking Metal...!...
This highlights well how well this album aged in relation to their newer stuff (I prefer 90s enslaved personally), I always felt many overlooked just how progressive and experimental Frost was, they were always ahead of their time without being pretentious or "avant-garde" in any way, really nice modern take on it that's still true to their BM roots.
old Darkthrone and Burzum were super innovative too, just not in a 'prog' way. Stuff like Hvis lyset tar oss and Transilvanian Hunger being influenced by Kraftwerk and minimalist techno music was never done before in metal.
@@michaelhudson2912 I think Varg's very pretentious in going on about his "underground techno" influences. Also pretty sure he never even got into the obvious pioneers of electronica like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze (despite supposedly being a Germanophile) saying he liked Jean Michel Jarre. I agree though the structure of Hvis Lyset Tar Oss was ahead of its time and worked really well. As for Filosofem, I didn't enjoy the second half so much, the first three tracks are great but the rest is an absolute bore. Also, Varg is such an insufferable ass it overshadows the music so much for me these days.
As for darkthrone, I would hardly call it prog, though Fenriz has very eclectic tastes. Master's Hammer were arguably progressive in a way as they were always pretty strange and experimental. Varg is arrogant enough to claim that Burzum, Darkthrone and Immortal pioneered everything and that anyone who came after just ripped them off. It's not true, there is some similarity with enslaved in terms of the cyclical riffs on the first album but even there you could hear the progressive influences. In Emperor as well, of course. What I can't stand is most pompous "avant-garde" black metal (other than Sigh).
Under a Funeral Moon is a very bizarre, psychotic album. Of course, most reviews just say it sounds like old Bathory, completely missing the innovation.
@@michaelhudson2912 it's not that much like bathory, it was a milestone but I'd hardly call it progressive and I doubt they would either. It makes you realise how they were always unashamedly old school and never said otherwise, you get Motorhead moments on it and it was that old school 80s nostalgia mixed in with their raw death metal roots I guess, plus the influence of the first wave pioneers. I never got the impression they were massive Venom fans but Fenriz seems honest enough to accept their influence on the early development (I am not a fan either, they had a few good songs but they're mostly crap)
@@TheGreatGodPan see, you're missing how bizarre that album is. It's influenced by old Bathory but it does strange things with the influence. It's very much not retro.
These dudes are beyond the realms of humanity!! Parts unknown the have come from, nasty metal is the way!!
Bestest band in the whole world
I gotta get these
hell yeah, i loved the early album and the ep and its great to hear this song in this mindblowing live quality!
Kickass! Frost!
grandi ENSLAVED saluti dall'italia, ricordo il concerto del 1994 a Varese
I was just sitting here reading the linear notes in my CD copy of Frost and noticed that McDonalds is listed in the "thanx to" list... knowing this record was fueled by Big Macs, makes this masterpiece even tastier today👌

@@fargranhammerheart yeah enslaved was probably my favorite band up until ISA, but I don't care for the newer stuff a lot more prog, and not enough metal, but they have plenty of fans. They don't need me.

Frost album for me is one of the all time greats. Though for whatever reason, i tend to prefer Eld over just about everything else.

1:37 best part
frost and eld, greatest albums, i liked this fenris(form frost) version ... i woluld like that the sound at the end would be the same as the original... i think in this great song it gives something different and turns it unique.... just my opinion..
At the 90s I didn t know Enslaved, i ve took frost album from a store cos the name of the record FROST(like celtic frost), and was something incredible, so i took eld too.... great band !!! great sound in here, pre ordering now!!!
