This song is so impressive. I cannot even explain how much I like Röyksopp's original. And when I saw this cover I was deeply impressed that I like this version even more. Listening to it literally every day on repeat. Well done, Enslaved!
pure masterpiece, I didnt even imagine that so much characteristic non-guitar song can be covered that way in other genre. For 2 years I have totally no words about it.
I discovered Enslaved back during Ruun, and wrote the band saying the same exact thing. I'm from New Orleans in the U.S. where black metal wasn't so popular (still isn't)' so I was really surprised when the band wrote back to me. I forgot who exactly wrote back, but they're very cool people. Excellent playing.
Vortex -simen from dimmu borgir arcturus borknagar has the original on his UA-cam channel i found it interesting then after an enslaved binge today this popped up lmao very cool
Proof that it is possible to make Epic Nordic Black Metal out of everything - as soon as you are Enslaved :) Seriously, one of the best covers i've ever heard.
First time I heard this, I didn't even realize it was a cover (being from the USA), just seemed to be another beautiful, haunting, and grand Enslaved song. Which just goes to show you how well Enslaved made this their own. That being said I only recently heard the original and it's a wonderful song as well.
Such a great band, so happy they are back, this is great, not their heaviest work by any means, but still staying true to what Enslaved is all about, will support this band till the end of time!!!
Never been a big Enslaved fan but I have to say...they did a great job here..giving it a bm edge. I just heard it for the first time today due to a Spotify daily mix. Definitely adding this to my favs.
I found this cover version of one of my favorite songs from the beginning very successful. Håkon can also prove his talent as a singer here. Hail the mighty Enslaved. PS. come back to Berlin!
I like both the original and this cover a lot. The clean vocals remind me quite me quite a bit of Wolfsheim. That said, for this particular track they could use just a tad more of the "bite" of the orignal's.
I already commented on this video. Mostly I prefer an original song instead of a cover. But in this case I really like this version better than the original. The way Enslaved perform this song gives it a much darker vibe. What I also like are the lyrics, even if I still don't fully understand them. I think there are a view ways what the lyrics could mean. Some of my interpretations are it could be about depression or death. By death I mean the death from the point of a person which died, but also the loss of someone. If anyone read this comment and maybe knows the true meaning of the song, please let me know.
maybe the original composition yes, maybe mean more or less what you described on your comment.... but the Enslaved version this would have some subjetive meaning for them for sure.... I think i get more or less what they think about this song and what they re-interpret from the point of view of the band... maybe this have to do with their teenage musical roots, and life experiences, discovering, etc etc... and also about mystical secrets, compiled in the universe, in life, in the axioms, in mathematics, in the deepest ecstatic and emotional experiences
It's a song about someone hitting a killing a runner on the side of the road with their car in the early morning/late at night while it's dark out. The person in the car ran from the scene and left them there to die. It's told from the perspective of the victim/the guilty conscience of the driver.
I remember listening to "E" for the first time. I was impressed and joyful. Then this song came on and i suddenly cried and felt anxious. It triggered something. I don`t know what. But i cherish the album even more for this sudden moving experience. I don`t even care that it is a cover. It`s just the sound, the harmonies, the seering picking and the humble bassline that get`s me everytime.
This is the path I wish Paradise Lost would of taken. Huge fan of Royksopp. Kinda angry this band was hidden for so long. If it weren't for Nuclear Blast singing them I would of missed out. Out of all the labels Nuclear Blast blows away Century Media, Earache, and Roadrunner.
Below is the link to a cover that the drummer, Maurício Weimar, made of the song "Jettegryta". A beautiful tribute to Enslaved and the magnificent album, "Utgard". @
So Enslaved covering Royksopp gives us an Paradise Lost's Icon type of sound. AMAZING.
It was me on that road
But you couldn't see me
Too many lights out, but nowhere near here
It was me on that road
Still you couldn't see me
And then flashlights and explosions
Roads are getting nearer
We cover distance but not together
I am the storm and I am the wonder
And the flashlights, nightmares
And sudden explosions
I don't know what more to ask for
I was given just one wish
It's about you and the sun
A morning run
The story of my maker
What I have and what I ache for
I've got a golden ear
I cut and I spear
And what else is there
Roads are getting nearer
We cover distance still not together
If I am the storm if I am the wonder
Will I have flashlights, nightmares
And sudden explosions
I don't know what more to ask for
I was given just one wish
Roads are getting nearer
We cover distance but not together
I am the storm if I am the wonder
And the flashlights, nightmares
And sudden explosions
There's no room where I can go and
You've got secrets too
I don't know what more to ask for
I was given just one wish
Thanksss :)

Yeah, very respectfully done. It sounds HUGE and yet carefully put together
"No Bad Album" band. Respect.
pure masterpiece, I didnt even imagine that so much characteristic non-guitar song can be covered that way in other genre. For 2 years I have totally no words about it.
Enslaved have aged like a fine wine. They're so damn technical within any heavy genre of music they are playing. Memorable indeed!
I discovered Enslaved back during Ruun, and wrote the band saying the same exact thing. I'm from New Orleans in the U.S. where black metal wasn't so popular (still isn't)' so I was really surprised when the band wrote back to me. this song is an example of a true masterpiece. you can do anything with it and it will be good.
The Röyksopp original is so, so good. Drop whatever prejudice you may (or may not) have and give it a go.
Röyksopp gave us classics like Eple and Poor Leno. really great electronic duo indeed.
I love both tracks. The Ro:yksopp video is stellar too
i always liked both band !! Junior is a masterpiece !!
I love both this one and the original ☺️

Enslaved has also Covered; King Crimson, Rush, Windir & Celtic Frost.
Proof that Röyksopp is actually certified Nordic doom & gloom.

Man this song is a timeless masterpiece. Regardless of what version.
This cover is simply amazing. I listen to it almost everyday since I discovered it.
This was so much fun to film! I'm glad to see it turned out so well :)
Love both Röyksopp and Enslaved, Norwegian legends! Ivar and company really nailed it, they owned the song, what a cover!
i like Röyksopp, i like enslaved, so... perfect ^^
I think the same!
Damn right my friend
Un gruppo meraviglioso. È una cover bellissima ❤
Enslaved just keeps getting better and better
This song is so deep and so dark! I like to hear It when I'm alone and thinkative!
My fav Röyksopp song given excellent care, great cover!

This is the first version of the song I ever heard and I like it best.
Holy shit, i've grown up listening to this music on the car with my parents... Great!!!!!
Ce morceau ne laisse pas indifférent, ce riff reste dans la tête, ces voix si différentes s' harmonisant à merveille. Exceptionnel, merci Enslaved

The royskopp original is a bop, but I feel this cover has so much more raw emotion in the music
И кавер, и оригинал - оба невероятны. Да такое встречается раз в жизни

Perfect example of how great songs can be performed perfectly in every music style. From electro to gloom metal.
Is it me or is the clean vocals same as Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost).Well done Enslaved !!!
Norwegians are always surprising me. Hails to mighty Enslaved
They are a new band for me but after hearing this I must check "what else is there" on their catalog.
I recommend Isa and Riitiir. They define their latest sound pretty well!
@@darkprague1334 Thanks
This is a cover btw
To me Vikingligr Veldi and Eld are their best but regarding their old black metal sound. Highly recommended.

Серьёзное упущение. Скорее берись за их творчество. Группа довольно самобытная. Этакий Авангардно-прогрессивный Викинг-метал
Such a great band, so happy they are back, this is great, not their heaviest work by any means, but still staying true to what Enslaved is all about, will support this band till the end of time!!!

Enslaved literally got black metal and mixed it with progressive metal. I don’t know why, but I just find that insanely unique and awesome.
This is Metal Depeche Mode, and I fucking love it!
