What I learned after being a natural for 10 years: 1. Keep your scalp clean and healthy (ph 4.0) and avoid product buildup at all costs. 2. Keep your hair stretched 3. Never let your hair dry out 4. Avoid heat damage at all costs 5. Moisturize and seal the moisture in (LC, LO) 6. Avoid manipulating your hair and use long term protective hairstyles. 7. Use a shower filter 8. Avoid tension on your hair roots and on your edges. 9. Retain length by caring and protecting your ends 10. Sleep in a silk bonnet on a silk pillowcase. And the major source of this knowledge? It is your channel!! thanks so much 😊❤️

Truly your are one of the best natural hair educators online. You bring the science of natural hair care allowing us to take our emotions of the table so we can make the right choices to reach our hair goals. Endless chatter videos are of the past for me thanks to your research and knowledge. BTW your hydrolized protein has tamed my low porosity shredding OVERNIGHT. I appreciate you and will continue to support your efforts moving forward. Peace and Blessings.
Oh my, I just found you out and I am hooked. I can't believe a hair scientist actually exists here on UA-cam. You are simply God sent. I am transitioning and I am lost as to how to take care of my hair, I've been watching so many videos but none like you. I'm so overwhelmed with your videos and you're doing such a fantastic job.

Great video and excellent article. Statistics? I'm not surprised. You are obviously a very intelligent young lady. Keep up the good work. I'm sure your mother is proud.
Love the factually based information you always share with us, you make us black girls feel so proud of having someone like you, well educated and willing to share your knowledge. Thanks a lot. I´m battling with my natural hair after taking off synthetic braids. Believe me, you are helping me a lot.
I’m so grateful 🙏🏾 to have come across your channel. You are so pretty, knowledgeable and encouraging. You really motivate me as a fellow African American woman who is truly learning to embrace my natural hair. Thank you and please keep doing what you do! 🙏🏾👏🏾💕❤️
Good day I am a new subbie and since the whole Covid thing have been trying to take care of my hair. I am grateful for your videos. I have always watched but never subscribed.
So Glad I have found your channel. I think you have saved me and my daughters hair. We're on a healthy hair journey and this is far by the best channel yet.
You're not the only one, many people have this "syndrome" when they first go natural. Why not, our hair is interesting and beautiful. But, no worries overtime you will get more use to your natural hair and stop playing with it so much
You are extremely informative. Your delivery is excellent. I don't know if your discipline involved education, but you certainly know how to gather, format, and impart knowledge. Keep it up ☺.
what do i do i cant big chop my hair cause im 10 my mom does not know the product to use cause she is relaxed too every time she says lets relaxed your hair i say no thank u
I can attest to how important it is to monitor your hair/scalp. I was having some crazy itching on my scalp, and I had no idea why, until I realized that my spritz was way too drying. It had apple cider vinegar AND lemon juice, and I was using multiple times a week, sometimes every day! I didn’t even seal it in with oil, so me and my high porosity self were just high and dry. Ridiculous... 😩 I switched it out with just aloe vera juice and rose water, and the itching went poof~
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I too am not only on a personal hair journey, but I'm starting my own natural hair products line to share my gift and spread the FACTUAL knowledge. So I have to pay homage, women like you are inspiration for self sufficiency. Thank you “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” ― Maya Angelou
I'm so happy to have found your channel very informative and helpful...I really appreciate your time and effort in helping us new naturals to better take care of our hair. Thank you so very much for sharing 😎👍🏾
I always look forward to your videos. I was natural for 5 years and recently relaxed my hair. I'm ready to go back natural but not looking forward to the short stage of hair growth. It was nearly impossible to avoid knots because I couldn't protective style.
Your content rocks! Thanks for the super simple, informative and fun videos. You're really helping me learn more about what grows out of our heads, and create fun routines to meet my goals. Thank you xx
Eight years into my natural hair journey and I'm here to relearn the basics. I've damaged my scalp from over manipulation and I'm using the scalp series to guide me. Sigh.
Your videos are above and beyond the call of duty...thank you for sharing what you know with your natural-hair sisters! On a different note, could you recommend a Natural Hair stylist in Buffalo NY or Niagara Falls, NY?
You are truly a blessing to the natural hair care world. I wish I would have came across your channel years ago. But I am thankful to God for honest and clear information now. Please keep your channels going for others on there natural journey.
My niece decided to go natural as a freshman in college but returned this summer with a weave because she was told it was a protective style for natural hair. I am concerned because I am seeing that she's losing her edges. How can I tell her a weave will cause alopecia, (balding,) caused by traction?
I believe I have alopecia, but I have not yet been diagnosed. Although late, I made a personal decision to "take the bull by the horn". I ended up doing the big chop. I have an upcoming appointment with a dermatologist, for a diagnosis, to know exactly what I'm dealing with. After the diagnosis, I would prefer to take on a natural approach in an effort to salvage and/or regrow my strands. I have about one month to go. While I wait, what would you suggest I do in terms of hair care?
Can you do a video about caring for protein sensitive hair which is usually low porosity too. I have this combination and can't find advice anywhere! Thank you and I love your videos!
I wash weekly and after two weeks per month so three times monthly but still have low sebum production. Should I use grease or oil or butters on my scalp weekly? I didn't understand the part you said about cleansing frequency. I try moisturizing my ends often but always end up with knots.
Brava! I never thought I would see the woman who would be able to convince me that natural hair was as beautiful as straightened hair. When I saw the models on your video I was stunned. I personally have never been able to grow my hair even to my shoulders for the past 20 years. I don’t know why I have been afflicted in this way but I have noticed that if I try to keep my hair natural it becomes completely and utterly unmanageable and it never seems to stop shrinking and drying. Enough of me. I’m extremely impressed with your presentation with your command of the facts and with your style. The beauty of natural hair had completely eluded me until I saw your presentation. I find that I prefer it and of course I love everybody. I think I walk a little taller now because of what I’ve seen God bless you. I also desire you to have maximum success and happiness in your business and personal life. Keep going upward you’re taking the rest of us with you.
Love your videos. There's not much to tangle for me. I have short grey hair. What do you recommend. Getting ready to cut it down again. I get split ends fast. Thank you for giving us knowledge on hair. 🌠
Miss Shellie Hello Miss Shellie. First, wear your hair in styles that don't cause ANY tension to that area. Also, try to gently message your scalp at least three times a week for just about 5 to 10 mins at a time. If the middle of your head is sore, it could be caused by an imbalance in your diet and/or poor blood circulation. Sounds like a broken record but, eat tons of raw veggie (preferable by juicing) and get active and work out. The follicles in that area are weak and dying so, doing these things will help a lot in regenerating them. I hope this helps :-)
Peace an Blessins ... This is the best video HANDS DOWN I,ve seen on Utube (I,ve seen a lotta vids) so far about carin for hair in a complete way ... I really appreciate that you talk about finding others with a similar hair type. I follow several people. There product ideas, give you more options and excellent advice on occasions. I just did my last big chop. Mines was to let go hair color. I earned my grays! It's been a month since the cut and my hair feels, so much better. It isn't nearly as dry, as with my previous color. I won't make that mistake again. And on the plus side my texture and feel, is much better. Keep making the videos, they inspire me!
I can have enough of your videos. Nee natural here. I learned so much from your videos!!! Love the simple profesional way you explain everything! Congrats! Keep the good work!
Loving your videos. I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and since I been pregnant I've been experiencing severely dry scalp and hair. No matter what I do anymore seems to work. I've been looking up vids but so far I haven't found anything that could help me out. Do you have any advice for me?
@Greenbeauty I just want to give you a HUUUUUUGE hug, you are sooooo informational and you've helped me tremendously with my hair Journey. My hair thanx you, from the bottom of her strands.🙆💆💇💁 😄
I have very fine/sparse hair and about 3 inch bald spot in the crown of my head.. it drives me crazy. I do protective stylings but I can't wear them long as my head gets tender pretty easily🤦♀️ sigh I need help. Currently using aloe vera rosemary spritz. Along with a mixture of oils..
It took me 6 years to find the perfect conditioner and shampoo, in that time I also found my hair loves silicone and hated curly girl method, my hair went bald!
Blessings Sister Queen! New subscriber here with #microbraids #microlocs #diylocs #grayafro #graysisterlocks #grayhairdontcare #tinylocs so can You share natural gray chemical free hair and loc care videos.
Not sure if I'd get an answer, I hope I do. But I have a question. I have realized with my hair, high porosity, that I would use my leave -in (no matter brand) do the whole LOC, LCO method. But I have this issue, need to know if it's normal. After a few days, my hair would feel brittle or be dry but the oil I used to seal is still there. I could put my hand in my hair and it comes out greasy. Can u tell me why that is?
Another great video!! My youngest daughters' hair have definitely been a journey in the past 2 years after loc removal. But I've been very patient and keeping a journal via blogging. I know exactly what ingredients to avoid and what methods just don't cut it for her. I'm actually in the process of re-evaluating her current regimen and considering blowdrying on a cool setting using the tension method to avoid matting and tangles (not to straighten). Her hair is very tightly coiled and stretching the hair via braids, twists and banding isn't cutting it and I think her hair is suffering damage due to the tangles and matting which cam probably be avoided with a light blow-dry. Perfect video, perfect timing...certainly confirmation. Thx!
MyBabyGirlsCurls Hello, I can relate. I have a hair type that does not 'stretch' properly with simple braids or twist. So, I tend to relay mostly on protective styles. light blow-dry is a great method to turn to, especially for active children. Just make sure you put her hair into a style (preferable a protective style) right after so, you don't have to blow dry too often. No worries, as she gets older and her hair grows out. Your efforts will definitely pay off. As her hair grows, it will be trained to behave the way you want it to. Keep up the great work, your daughter will thank you later :-)
GreenBeautyChannel Thanks! Her hair is always placed in a protective style just not long term. I have her on a weekly schedule but would like to work towards bi-weekly if possible (depending on how the hair responds). Thanks again. ^_^
I live in Alaska now and it is like an Arctic desert there. My skin itches and my hair broke off last winter. I feel that I should not wash it as much as I did in the south. I have been playing my hair and wearing a men's doo rag that helps hold in the moisture when temps are -30 degrees. I wear wigs over it and slap caps. I am experiencing growth. I just dont know how long I should go between washes. Help.
I'm a new subscriber who is transitioning from relaxed to natural. Do you have any advice? I've watched many of your videos in one sitting. I've learned much about hair care. I'm looking forward to more information from your videos.

I'm trying to figure out if my hair is going through the exogen stage, experiencing increased hair breakage due to a mild heat damage, or if I need a good protein treatment. Brief account of the heat damage. Got a trim in March ( this year). I informed the stylist that I had applied avocado butter and grapeseed oil to my hair. She reassured me they were HEAT PROTECTANTs. She began flat ironing. No blowing drying or anything. I had just washed my hair and followed the loc method. I could hear SIZZLING SOUNDS ( similar to frying eggs). I stopped her more than 3 times. I was told my hair wasn't being fired and that I was hearing the products. My hair was put in a protective style immediately thereatfter. Don't ask me why she just didn't blow dry my hair and trim. Guess she wanted to see my length or something. But anyway, after a month in a half cornrows (natural hair) and half sengelese twist ( extensions) style. I noticed my hair was breaking off more than usual. My hair would break off just from a simple rub and more some when finger detangling /comb detangling. I noticed slight thinning. I have extremely extremely thick hair. I'm high density. You can't see my scalp when fully dried. I also had very very small section of my hair that would hang lower than the rest when wet or dry. . My hair normally shrinks 50 percents or more. That has also seemed to change slightly. I have no straight ends. It's just the constant breakage and pieces of hanging curls. I have/had tighter curls. I got a another trim this month (MAY) from another stylist. BEST IN HOUSTON... btw, I'm considering purchasing the real protein treatment. Although I'm not sure if my hair needs a protein treatment. It's just breakage! Breakage!! Breakage!!!. ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM SOMEONE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! !!!! THANKS
Loved IT!! Oh the $$$$ I wasted as a product junkie because Suddenly None of my products would WORK!! :0 Took me way to long to figure out that Clarifying Shampoo was really my best friend. But the Best ever is ( in my opinion) finding out your Real Hair type!! Because it finally explains some things like for example there's a You Tuber that every time she washes her hair it's like an old Selsun Blue commercial. But her hair is fine after that! O.o?? I KNOW!! My hair would be ......I don't want to THInK what it would be! And we Both have what Appears to be Thick but we know is really Dense Hair so what is up??? Well from the real hair type I know I have fine strands. So No Way are they going to be scrubbed like someones laundry. However I don't know how thick her strands are BUT I watched a video of her hair being flat ironed and it didn't straighten out well the first time. CLUE!! Now my fine hair will straighten out perfectly well no matter how long it's been since I last straightened it Or if it's the first time. However the thicker your strands the more uh stubborn the hair can be. Now she used a low setting (smart no risking damage) and the second time she straightened it out TA DA!! It was nicely straight. So now I can guess WHY though we both have the same Dense hair she can manhandle hers quite a bit more than I can and suffer no Damage!!! Her strands are, I think( i can't be 100% sure) Medium to Coarse. Thanks to The Real hair Typing system you can apply the same incite to All the You Tuber's you watch and will have a pretty good idea if some style or technique is even worth considering. And that is why the Real Hair Typing System Rocks! \m/>_
What I learned after being a natural for 10 years:
1. Keep your scalp clean and healthy (ph 4.0) and avoid product buildup at all costs.
2. Keep your hair stretched
3. Never let your hair dry out
4. Avoid heat damage at all costs
5. Moisturize and seal the moisture in (LC, LO)
6. Avoid manipulating your hair and use long term protective hairstyles.
7. Use a shower filter
8. Avoid tension on your hair roots and on your edges.
9. Retain length by caring and protecting your ends
10. Sleep in a silk bonnet on a silk pillowcase.
And the major source of this knowledge?

I have very fine/sparse hair and about 3 inch bald spot in the crown of my head.. it drives me crazy.
I do protective stylings but I can't wear them long as my head gets tender pretty easily🤦♀️ sigh I need help. Currently using aloe vera rosemary spritz. Along with a mixture of oils..
luv to know what you think of black seed oil
Love your Journey to beautiful series!!! I told several of my coworkers to watch your UA-cam channel.

Palo Brie Coming soon ! it take me a longer time b/c it has to be truly effective for our hair. I hope you understand
Hi Green Beauty,

I want healthy hair which I believe will lead to long hair. Help me.
You the real MVP
I just started my journey and I'm so overwhelmed with all the information out there. My hair is very short please can you guide me i am confused
i have a question? is also vera drying for natural hair?
It depends on what state your hair is in. If it has a lot of old build-up on it then Aloe Vera juice/gel can be dring.
Omg! So informative!;)
Every single Moisturizer Ive tried left a white residue, can I just use shea butter?
unfortunately, most of these videos are not for people with 2 level curls. it is mostly for coils.
I am 20 yrs old my hair is not growing a bit inch also please help me I want long hair please please help me
I live in Alaska now and it is like an Arctic desert there. Help.
