      Rod Williams the best and the easiest way is to go to an Indian grocery store in your city. If there is none, you can buy these products on amazon.com. I recommend looking at Curly Proverbz' channel as she goes into ayurvedic herbs and oils at length.

    It would be awesome to add which ayurvedic herbs are best for each dosha. I'm a majority pitta dosha and my hair loves amla, shikakai and fenugreek most. Love your videos!

  • @karacee5481

    I love the quality of your videos. I have always had a hard time translating the doshas for my natural hair. Based on your definitions, i think I am a combo vatta/pitta. (Sigh). My hair is high porosity, fine strands that tangle easily, low to medium density. But stress and hormonal changes over the past couple of years ( I had a baby at 39. Started a new stressful job at 40) have contributed to greys and thinning/soreness at my crown/temples. I use a diy ayurvedic oil (recipe from Curly Proverbs) and have had success using henna, indigo and other ayurvedic herbs over the years. I can't wait to see how i can fine tune an ayurvedic regimen to my dosha(s) to heal my body and hair. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and advice. Love your channel!

      Kara Cee I'm high porosity as well. Would you say the henna increased the density of your hair as well?

    • @karacee5481
      @karacee5481 7 років тому

      nikqualuv09 I would say it helped a little with density and strength. I have seen great improvement with scalp massages, green tea rinses to help with shedding and increasing my protein intake. Paying attention to make sure my scalp is clean and the follicles stimulated has really helped as well.

      Lette Letty what a combination! She has a video on crown thinning and soreness though. You should check it out. I had itchiness and soreness at the crown but not the thinning. I took her advice in that video and its definitely helped. And she just uploaded a video on how to care for each hair dosha. Have you watched it yet?

    The fact that you talked about the nature of ourselves and our diet along with the relationship of all that we are to being the reason of what are hair is and can be is needed. We are not on hair journeys to be vain but to know who we are in association to all that is associated to us. Good stuff!

  • @The.Whoever
    @The.Whoever 7 років тому +21

    I'm vita. High porosity. And I swear I've always felt like my scalp produced little to no sebum. I thought it was just me. And as far as density goes it's hard to tell if my hair is considered thin or medium density. I know it's not hard at all to get my hair in a ponytail and I do have to do a lot of fluffing. 🤔now that I think about it maybe my hair is considered thin. I swear, figuring this hair out is a never ending journey. 😑
    You looked beautiful in the video btw. Skin is flawless.

    I am so glad that you decided to speak about Ayurveda. I am currently using Ayurvedic infused oils mixed in my conditioner for my hair. I plan to do this all year. I am currently infusing coconut oil with Amla powder for a few weeks. Then I plan on using this oil as part of my pre-poo. Blessings to you not only for presenting this information in such an easy to follow manner, but for also explaining that Ayurveda is a full medical system and not just a bunch of herbs to put on your hair. A lot of videos on UA-cam talk about ayurvedic herbs with no mention of the rest of it. That could potentially lead to using the wrong combination on your hair and making your "hair drama" worse.
    But I'm partial to Ayurveda; I started seeing a traditional Vaidya due to illness and she literally saved my life. I've been studying and following her guidance ever since.

    If I may interject. I study Ayurveda, and I dont know if it is correct to identify kapha as ideal or quality, and pitta and vata as lacking. The three are very normal. People come in different physical expressions. One person is skinny, one person is fat, another is muscular. Each one can be healthy, strong, and normal. Remember the three doshas have to be in relative balance for the specific individual. Everyone should NOT seek to be more Kapha, cause being too Kapha in Ayurveda can be a problem.

    Thank you so much for this video, you are such a blessing and your knowledge is next to none! Alot of hair UA-cam channels tell us what products and methods are good, but you really break it down and give the scientific breakdown. You defo deserve your own TV programme or something of that nature. I did the test it was 100% accurate Kapha-Pitta. I look forward to your future videos on ayurvedic methods for natural hair esp based on the dosha!!!

    I’m a vata-pita type and since this is Indian, I think that they go by their people. Kapha people are known to be heavier, slower (in movement), and not as mentally agile. According to the chart that you’ve even revised, I’m supposed to be Kapha. I noticed that if you apply this same chart to the black hair community, many of us based on hair type, would fall in to Kapha. I would suggest looking in to this too because this would very much help you figure out yourself in regards to dosha health. Take some quizzes online.

    The quiz said I am a vata/kapha. But I know based on me taking a quiz like this when I went to school at the Aveda institute. I’m a dominant Pita but based off of what I’m seeing I’m a Pita/Kapha all the day. I have everything that the Kapha has for hair but the issues with sebum with Pita and I have eczema in my scalp and Sebboriatic dermatitis. I have zero traits from Vata.

    My hair without any doubt in the Vata category. I really feel like this is the hardest hair type to keep healthy and retain length. I big chopped in 2012 and has never been past neck length. Your hair is goals!!!!!! I low key need your help!!!!! My hair is a dry dead mess!! I've been natural for almost 7 years and my hair is only 6 inches long and I'm low-key fed up of it. I'm a student so my hair budget is very low therefore I can't try out many and multiple products and because of the workload I put my hair in braids for 3 months at a time in which I wash it every month, but my hair always and I mean always keeps breaking which may be due to the weight of the hair but I find very little styles that suit me so my braids have to be thick and long. There is also the fact that I'm in the U.K. and the weather is not the best here as it's always cold and dry. You are someone I have watched and admired for a long time and I would love it if you could give me any advice as everywhere I go they say it's due to genetics. Thank uuuuuu ❤️
