QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:
Do I have to heat stretch for length retention?
- No
What do I do if I get heat damage?
- Unfortunately, most forms of heat damage are permanent. To maintain length, the best you can do is to temporarily patch it up with weekly REAL Protein Treatments until your hair gets to a length where you are ready to cut out the damaged parts.
Why do you use heat for length retention if it’s not needed?
- Without heat, I would have to keep my hair extra moisturized and lubricated at all times. My skin is acne prone so, it would be almost impossible for me to avoid breakouts. So, I chose a different route.

I just wanted to let you know that I see you selling multi million copies of books and videos regarding hair care. You'll become an authority figure.
TheMarmalade28 Amen!
books?!?!?
She already is 😊. So much work and research goes into every video 💛
I am so happy that I came across your channel. I have 4c low porosity hair. I have been struggling and refused to use heat on my hair because everyone said it wasn’t good for your hair. I took your advice and lightly blow-dried my hair and my twist out came out right. Adding heating to my regimen has been a game-changer for me. I broke down in tears 😭 because that’s how overwhelmed I was that my hair finally came out righr. Thank you 🙏🏾. Your channel is by far the best channel when it comes to natural hair.
Aww ,l get that the satisfaction of your hair coming out right but i dont think ive ever cried because of it. I hope your doing well and your hair is flourishing
I just cried also , and i told 6 friends who also cried from joy 😊
Fr. My hair used to break by not stretching it🥴🥴
I love the love naturals give each other. We are a beautiful community.
Yes we are ... I love it too
Yes we are a beautiful family supporting each other.
Yes!!!! Team natural.💯✌️😎
@@GreenBeauty I love your real protein treatment! I added real protein to my moisturizing conditioner when I washed and styled my hair last week. Today I decided I wanted to heat stretch my hair in preparation for a protective style. Since my hair was still clean from the week prior, I simply wet my hair with water and utilized a humectant product I had on hand along with some avocado oil. I blow dried my hair on a medium setting. My hair feels really soft and has bounce just like you said it would. You have found a long term customer in me! I plan on purchasing your herbal oil and your PH balancing spritz. Bless you!
I admire ppl who can blow dry there hair without a comb attachment!
Ha. I thought I was the only one 😅 and I'm relaxed!!!!
No truer words have ever been spoken 😂
DarkandChocolate Saaaaame. It’ll never be me. I’ll try it once but I’ll be always going back to ye olde school.
@@fugeelahahaha Right!
thats what i do lol
It took me 2 years to decide whether or not I actually wanted to use this video as a guide to using heat on my hair. And let me just say Sis knows her stuff! I’ve been natural 11 years and I’ve ALWAYS hated using any kind of heat bc in return I’d end up with crispy hair. BUT..... once I finally watched this video and practiced the all steps, invested in a better blower dryer, let me tell you!!!! I’ve never gotten soft hair after heat drying NEVER! I did purchase both types of dryers but I liked the one that was safer on our hair.
When you said wahala, I flashed back to my dads rants about my brothers and my behavior 😂 I love your videos!
Naija babe!!!
Wow!! This helped me!! Bantu knkts, two strand twist out, braid outs, do NOT stretch my hair. Heat stretching is definitely for me. You are amazing!!
You are excellent at explaining things! Love it .
Your detail is so appreciated! I have fine, type 4, medium density hair and I am able to stretch my hair successfully with heatless methods and now I know why! You are awesome!
Katherine Miller me and you too. No heat
Me too. But I’m going to try heat to if I lose too much moisture ( I’m high density, fine, type 4a). My hair air dries really fast, but I’m just not interested in stretching, then twisting for a twist out since I have to wash weekly to keep my hair moisturized.
I really wish I could just fly to you to teach me about my hair. Your videos are one are the few that actually resonate with me and teach me useful tips for my own hair.
You said wahala I wasn’t expecting that 😂😂
I wish more hair gurus would talk about this so we can stop zoning in on curl patterns! I feel like there would be less confusion in the natural hair community and more to talk about. 🌸
I screamed when you said 'wahala'. Hello from Nigeria
Aww I see you with the Twi! Akwaaba sister!🇬🇭🎉
“Without much wahala”😂. I loveeeee your channel. Science and fact based and perfect. Plus your graphic skills are amazing!
Exactly. She doesn't just get on here and talk only. She shows pictures and videos. She shows hair so you can actually see it in motion.
That is what you have to do if you are going to talk scientific stuff too people.
Plus she tags where she got the info from in her videos. That's how you do it.
Thank you for going in depth with the 'types' of hair. Not every 4C type hair person is the same. My hair will look different from yours as yours is different from Viola Davis 4C hair. People need to understand the chart for their hair than just the surface layer.
thgritic102 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I don't think she is 4c. Looks 4b to me.
O Lort here we go 🙄🙄🙄

You always have a newer and fresher way to care for out hair. What a blessing you are. Thank you for inspiring us😘✨
She does now doesn't she. Just beautiful and kind of her to share.
I finally understand why these heatless stretching methods didn’t work well on me. This channel is everything.
It give me life when she say "side note" at 2:05... Nen she break it down wit some wisdom!
You are excellent at explaining things and I love how you alway remind us that we have barely scratched the surface about hair
My fav UA-camr is back!!!
Literally my favourite natural hair channel
So glad that you’re back making videos. Your wisdom has been very much missed. I refer your channel to many naturals and other youtubers. Looking forward to your next few videos👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love your channel. You put a spin on natural hair channel. You are so detailed and educational
Me: Cut all my hair off in January, watches video anyway because your voice is so relaxing.
Also, your videos are really informative so I can refer my curly girl friends to this video.
Makes me almost miss my hair, almost...
Great, precise video. I never thought about blow drying different sections of the hair differently but it is genius.
Such a relaxing educational video. Thanks for your attention to detail and actually teaching rather than pushing products.
You are the truth! I consider you as the Holy Grail for real no-nonsense hair knowledge. Thank you for your hard work ♥️
This is the first detailed analysis of our natursl hair. Sis, thanks.
Thank you for always coming through and educated us naturals, I've learned soo much about my hair type and how to properly care for my hair just by watching your videos. Thank you once again and God Bless you.
Your Fan and Student from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
I JUST LOVE YOUR SCIENTIFIC YET FRIENDLY CONTENT 👏🏼🧪🔬
You and this channel are so indispensable! Thank you for this video!
3:47 oh thank God cause I'm trying to learn more and more about my hair. I love when you break things down super specifically and down to a science. Thank you GreenBeauty 💕!!!
This girl is so informative. I love your videos.
Love your channel! We don't have the same hair at all (I'm more of a 2b/2c) but your understanding of curly hair and the way to take care of it is stunning! And you have a way of explaining it that is so clear and easy for us to understand! Keep up the great work!
Green beauty I like the way you break down your hair in three different parts, namely the root, middle, and ends and also work with each part according to their needs of blow drying. This is new to me but it makes so much sense. This is really insight into great blow drying tips. Thanks so much. One more thing I am gonna go check out your hair type system, cause to be honest I was using the system that's most popular on UA-cam to care for my hair.
Where has this channel been all my life ❤️
I absolutely love your channel. Thank you for all the knowledge.
Wow your heat regimen is like no other!!! Can’t wait to try it!!
Your detailed explanation has me convinced that I don't need heat to stretch my hair. Braiding and two strand twists work great for me. As always, thank you for the information.
Love Green Beauty! The time you are taking to educate us is the best! You are right, this is so new for us!! I LOVE that my hair LOVES water not like we were taught. We could have been the best swimmers in the world if we were not concerned about our hair (good grief!). Everything we are learning about products is found in Mother Earth and our kitchens (lol). We no longer have to choose to spend our money in other communities building up their financial base and draining our own. Ladies LEARN to truly LOVE what GOD has blessed us with. We can help (and save money by doing it) each other with the simplest changes... i know it takes time but the results are amazing- our hair (every Afro/black type) is beautiful!! Now back to detoxing my hair, lol
Love the look and thank you for the tips.
Wow, the amount of effort you put into this. Appreciated!
Old video but excellent info. I watched some of your videos to help recover from massive hair loss due to sepsis. Now I have decent length and have been wary of tension blow outs but feel that my hair will benefit from stretching. I like your hair system because that type 1-4 never seemed time make sense to me because it felt like way too much info was missing. Knowing my porosity, density and strand thickness has been the best indicators of how to manage my hair. Thanks for the well thought out info and not regurgitated info.
Thank you sooo much for this! I have high density, very thick strands and low porosity. Since starting my natural journey 3 years ago, I would use heat every other month but would told 'heat is bad'. I've really struggled to dry my hair by stretching as it takes HOURS and still don't have a blow out look. And now I know why. Thank you!!!
What you said makes so much sense. I see others with my "4c Hair" but yet and still their hair isn't as thick as mine but clearly a similar texture. Also after paying close attention to my hair this year, I've noticed the back of my hair is a different porosity than the middle and front. It takes forever for the back to dry while the middle and especially the front absorbs water TOO quickly. You're absolutely right about our hair being very diverse. Our hair is amazing. I love this method of heat stretching. I may try it soon. I have all of the products by you that you used in this video. Your protein treatment is my favorite. I love it so much. Thanks for educating us on our hair. You explain it in detailed and in simple terms so well. God bless
I'm due to try blow drying my hair for the first time in 5 years 🙈.
Will try this method.
I love your channel, your voice is so soothing, you and your hair are beautiful 😍
I have been looking forward to this video and I absolutely love it. I appreciate the care that you take and the detail you go through to enable us to understand every aspect of our hair. I am elated going through this natural hair journey with you and everyone else on this amazing channel. BTW Happy Thanksgiving 🎉 🎊 🎉 there are so many things I’m grateful for and your channel is is definitely one of them. Namaste 🙏 😇🙏
So much love and appreciation from 🇧🇪 ❤️❤️💖
Your hair chart should be made paramount. It has helped me understand my hair a lot in caring for her. And I tried your heat regimen! Boy! Where have you been all my life?! My hair looks so healthy after only two weeks! And my sebum is secreted more frequently. So thick. Thank you queen!
I believe you are going to save my hair 😁😁👍👍 thank you. I enjoy watching these videos. And your voice is so soft my baby was listening and dose right off to sleep ! Lol this is the number one channel for natural hair in my opinion
I have very tightly coiled, I think low porosity, very not dense, sparse, and thin and thick strands so hard to say on that one. I’ve done heatless stretching but I think a heated stretching might be the best route for me. I am trying to figure out how to stop my major breakage and finally after years get even a little length retention. Glad I found this page.
It is SO kind of you to support Craving Curly Kinks in that way. Awww.
*FINALLY* !! I never clicked on a video so fast!!! 😂🙌🏽
Thank you for your channel and sharing your research. I learn so much
You're hair is gorgeous 😍
This was sooo worth the wait.... I literally had a clay mask in my hair while i was watching this video so i could follow your heat regimen right after i washed out the clay mask😂😂😂. Im glad I met you on my hair journey
This was great, I really do appreciate you bringing great content. Thank you and hands down!!! You saved me!🤗🤩🤗🤩
Thank you for knowledge and detail. This is the only and best way to stretch the hair as well as preparation for a silk press(pre dry prior to stretching the hair). Whom ever created the terminology 4C, etc.... considered whom to market it to. The bighest consumers. Hair has 3 textures fine, medium and coarse which is in regards to curl pattern(s). I have preached for 20 years + that you don't have to manipulate the hair with a brush to achieve length or direct heat on contact with hair you can hold the nozzle 4-6 inches away from the scalp and watch the hair pattern change like magic.
The best most informative natural hair channel! Thanks for your content, I'm a new subbie and have been looking for something which can help me learn and apply lessons in looking after and caring for me hair.
I like that you give very detailed information.
Greenbeauty, I am sooooooo thankful for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and to everyone out there.
Wow this is a thanksgiving miracle.
Hi GreenBeauty, thanks for the hair typing system! Have been trying to figure this one out since for ever!
I'm confused on why people have a problem with it. It isn't meant to be VERY detailed like that. Its and overall. Like general way of organizing the hair. That's it. And its always the same people who say no to this yet keep on and on using it.
Thank you for the detailed information and love.
I love your videos so much I have the hair to type on the left clearly not your hair type but you still have a lot of useful information and the reasoning behind it is helpful for me to adjust anything you say to fit my hair too :) I love the way you think
And tell her I said "ete sen" ☺😂☺
Is she Ghanaian? 😃

I think Nigerian
@@caramelcocoa234 Awwww ok
What does that mean?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏾 I subscribed and now I'm gonna binge your videos lol ✌🏾
Now I know why I have been unsuccessful at stretching my hair. I have Type 4, with some s curls, some o curls, high density, medium thickness, and low porosity hair. I have both your REAL protein treatment and your herbal oil. I will try this low heat method! Thank you! You are appreciated.
Thank you for measuring the blow dryer!!! I have tried to find that and surprisingly only some random website that was determining if a blow dryer could be used to replace a heat gun had it.
You’re a hair-saver! :)
Thanks queen.
A very good presentation much love from 🇬🇭🇬🇭
You're a great teacher. Subscribing now
Very comprehensive content! Subscribed :)!!
How have I never come across your channel before???? Crazy!!! Subscribed!!
Wow... I just stumbled upon your video and so far o agree with others, it is one of the best 👌👌👌you are so poised and so sure, very detailed n educational... no judgements at all, I can say that I've found again one of my go to tutorials for natural hairs.. tnx so so much n all the best for this year.
Great video :) Even though my hair is fine hair that's not as tight in texture or density, I still find I benefit from that stretching twice monthly. The heat is VERY low though. It's more so to stretch faster. It doesn't take much and I use a cool/warm dryer to stretch hair that's been mostly air dried
Thank you!! I have followed your advice and my hair is thanking me, drying naturally might not be for me & that's okay now I know how to do it safely :)
Thank you Green Beauty.
Omg where have I been?! This is a great technique 👍😍 Great video
Thank you for being so knowledgeable
Thank you for sharing this valuable information
This was incredibly informative! Thank you!
Hi, would you present a series on how to care for locs? Specifically, whether protein treatments, moisturizing, oiling etc. are necessary to maintain healthy hair. Thanks
you are very good teacher I love your video
GOAT... period! Thanks a bunch for your many generous and factual contributions to the universe for all of us GreenBeauty! Your protein treatment is amazing... I am high porosity with fine strands medium density hair s curls but kinky. I recently began to wash air dry which doesn't take long in about 10 twists after applying leave in moisturizer and oil.. Next day or later on once dry l untwist run my flat iron on the lowest setting and my hair has retained more length in 6 mos.. My hair stays moist soft and bouncy.. I have also began sealing with sunny isle butter or grease .. Just a little.. Thanks once again foe such a universal and practical approach sis! No gimmicks just facts...
Ooh I may have to try this, my hair is similar to yours.
I tried this method today along with the spritz and Oil. WOW. My hair feels so soft and moisturized. Can we say Game Changer! Magic🪄
Thank you, Green Beauty 💚
Thanks for the info. My hair is kinky, low porosity, fine hair shaft and extremely low density. Put it to you like this, I can’t do chunky twist because I would have thin 4 “chunky” twist on my head. Even hair stylist struggle with my hair. My hair breaks easily, I have been natural for over 7 years and can’t get pass my collar bone. I was afraid of heat from bad experiences but I will start using your tips.
Your voice is so soothing.
Wow just come across this channel . Never seen any blowout with just the flat attachment.. I will try this today! Also you explain this well.
I love this video
You are so professional and give all explanation.
And BTW I loved when you said wahala
Soo helpful sis thank you❤️❤️😊
Thank you.....it was very helpful!
Your hair is gorgeous!
I’m definable gonna try this method
👍👍Thanks for another great and informative video.
I use my hair dryer just to dry. I have stretched hair. Thanks for the info.😊
Sis, I love how you insert African words into your narrative: wahala, "ete s3n?" I see you sis✌🏻
