  • I finally went ahead and bought a full face helmet after much thought research and trial. And I can't tell you enough how glad I am that I did not get a Fox Proframe helmet, even though I thought they look awesome. Watch the video to find out why.

    Good review dude! Your POC helmet is a full DH helmet so definitely a different category than either the Pro Frame or the Stage. I actually ended up going with the Stage because I live in Australia and it gets so hot here, therefore I wouldn't end up wearing the POC as it's not vented well enough so I went with something I will where even during the summer months here. The Stage venting is amazing and it is EPP rated so that gives me some comfort. I to would definitely not go with the Fox Pro Frame. Nothing against Fox as they usually make great stuff but the Pro Frame is just that little bit too flimsy. By the way, it is always recommended that if you crash and hit your helmet on the ground that you replace your helmet. EPP or no EPP! Cheers

    Took a relatively minor crash in a FOX Proframe this weekend on a flat trail in sand, Nearly split the helmet in half and ended up with a concussion. I was amazed how little force it took to destroy it. Amazingly comfortable helmet, great airflow... don't consider it safe...

    • @litlikeacampfire7509

      Richard Swan sorry to hear about your crash, I hope the concussion was minor. I had some acquaintances with similar stories and that is where my research for this video began, thanks for sharing! When it comes to weight and air flow the proframe definitely wins, but sadly not protection, I really hope fox will update the materials and design to get it to function better

      I prefer that the helmet is broken and not the head, the helmet can be bought, but the head is not, if the helmet is broken, then it means he did his job.

    I have a Fox airframe and use it for trail riding. You don’t want a heavy helmet with bad ventilation when you need to paddle a lot. The Airframe has a DH rating bit that doesn’t mean you should use it for that. Fox has better helmets for dh. About the single impact, thats normal for most helmets. My motorbike and snowboard helmets can also only have one hit. We are talking about a serieus impact. If you have a serieus crash with your POC you will replace it even if it looks ok. The foam on the inside will be dented and doesn’t give you the same protection as before. I do like the looks of your helmet, it’s awesome.

    Things I’ve noticed with mine, the top two rear vents are barely open ( can’t even see through them). The front vents and vents above the brows are occluded with the padding which I don’t know how it keeps it cooled down. Only wide open vents are the 4 rear vents and the 2 under the visor sides.

    I would really like to know what helmet has the softest liner material? Because that's how they protect your brain the harder the foam the less cushion when you need it, I always check by trying to push my fingertip into the EPS foam liner when I compare helmets.

      Fit was good using the factory size guide and the fitment pads that are included, my head is ~60cm so I got an xl-xxl. It fits me great, I only added the extra rear neck pad. Breathability has been great, I've seen taken it on two XCish rides (just to see) in California with no problem, only thing is you drinking with the helmet on is a pain.

    I have a trolley stage and I have received multiple impact. And the helmet is still intact and it's not broken or anything. So I don't think that you must have EPP in all the helmet. Because my stage is still working properly and I'm still alive and taking and taking multiple impacts.

      The POC Coron is designed as a DH only helmet, the Coron Air is designed as a full face enduro helmet just like the Proframe and Stage, poor marketing maybe?? All of them meet the minimum DH certs, but all focus on different "important" factors for the user. I do feel the Coron Air is touch more downhill ready than the Proframe or Stage

    Congratulations, you didn't buy a lightweight fullface because you are riding gnarlier stuff than those were designed for - something that absolutely no one would have suggested you do in the first place, including Fox or TLD who have helmets for that too. Next up, "Why I don't ride in shorts when it's snowing". ;-) Good luck with your POC helmet! I've never used the Coron, but my Tectal Race Spin's (very expensive) pads unfortunately fell apart after a couple of months, and both the fit adjuster and the chin strap need constant tightening throughout a ride. The Spin pads in the Tectal seem to be exactly that - spin - and it's quite a hot helmet too. Overall, it's just another overpriced helmet and I'll try another brand next time. I suspect you'll find much of the same with the Coron.

    • @maciakj
      @maciakj 3 роки тому

      I'm riding Tectal Race Spin for more than 6 months now and I've never needed to readjust it during ride. In fact, I set the fit adjuster once and that's it, everytime I put the helmet on, I only click the strap and tighten it and it stays like that for several hours. No need to readjust the fit adjuster and no need to retighten the strap during ride. So it seems there's some issue with yours.

    Soooo I had the same problemw when choosing my helmet 6 months ago and was thinking about all of the three you mantioned. Finally i decided to buy POC with the same color as you. The helmet is realy comfortable and the breathable when going down the hill. When you stop or go up hill it is a pain to keep it on your head and not get it hot like a kettle. After that long time of using it i have to send it back to POC cause after few washes of inner lining it looks like a dog bite it. More over the air spin system in inside this lining and i lost one of the little couchin ... That system does not look like it can protect you from the side / low speed impact but is only there for comfort while wearing the helmet. This is not a quality of a premium helmet i would expect. I am really disapointed by this product. Probably will buy O'neal Blade this time TLD Stage.

    • @litlikeacampfire7509
      @litlikeacampfire7509  4 роки тому

      Air Spin and the more common MIPS are a both a little odd, and sadly a lot of the testing the companies do is not public domain... Kinda worrisome. Both systems are not designed nor should they help protect you from impact. There only purpose is to slightly rotate so that the helmet does not suck and reduce “whip lash.” I too am displeased with how this helmet liner removes, the only helmet that I have that has a nice liner to wash is for snowboarding lol
