    The D3 is the best there is. No question.

    The age and life of that helmet scares me lol , but i too have a fox rampage helmet i hang onto as a spare that has a crack in the chinbar and has a rough life. My current helmet of choice is the Kali Alpine and what i love about kali is the crash replacement warranty,you crash it bad enough to warrant replacement, you submit a form and mail it in, they credit you full retail price of helmet towards a new one. If you crash that helmet again i believe it is a 20% off. I took a hard hit 1.5years ago that cracked the shell of my original kali helmet and it responded amazing and was thankful to have it on and can agree with what you say about feeling good to crash in. My rampage helmet was fine, but the Kali out shined it on impacts and shows what $150 price difference can do.

      Guineson ah cool! I haven’t seen much about the Kali helmets, I’ll keep them on my radar now cheers. That feeling of knowing your helmet did a good job of protecting you is priceless hey

      Orlando Greer i bought a new small last year and it was too small so sent it back. The old mediums were too big but I’m pretty sure the current medium should be on the money

    Do you know of any shops in Adelaide that have Troy lee helmets? I’d like to try on a stage.

      brokenlegz you know what, I haven’t seen a troy lee fullface in a shop for a long time. I’m almost sure that WillRide has them in the shop but you’d have to call

      Didn’t even know that shop existed! Will keep that in mind. Can’t see them in the background of some insta photos haha 👍🏻 thanks!

      I’m guessing “dem trees” deleted their comment? Appreciate your two cents. I understand what you’re saying. I could chuck on my fox v3 mx helmet. But not sure I’d want to pedal in it. I could also use my shoei qwest. But definitely don’t want to pedal in that haha. I’m currently jumping and stuff in a giro fixture. And I still have to pedal around so I think a open kind of full face like a proframe or a stage might be my happy middle ground. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    a concern with this helmet is the wing on the top. to me it seems like a bad idea, another thing to catch and adding more chance of breaking the neck or getting pain, it's pointless I think.
    I have actually seen other brands make videos mentioning that their helmet doesn't have wings.

      Johannes Nilsen thats the First I’ve heard of it to be honest. I gotta say I’m pretty impressed with it

      @@mtbtelly5522 that's one of the reasons the visors have breakaway bolts, or visor that just moves back, to prevent getting caught or creating further damage. I am still not sure which helmet to get, some helmets I haven't found in stock in my size, some I don't want.

  • @mtbboy1993

    a hguy at a online shop claimed the Troy lee helmets fit similar to Fox, I guess it's the newer helmets, not the older like yours, what is your experience?

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  5 років тому +1

      Johannes Nilsen its pretty subjective, you’d have to try them both on. I prefer the fit and feel of the TLD over the fox helmets I’ve worn over the years if that helps

      @@mtbtelly5522 the fox rampage pro carbon has and chin pads they get too soft and chin guard hits the chin. So I will try something different next, D3 was on the radar for a while.

      Johannes Nilsen definitely try one on first to make sure it fits your head. I’m hugely impressed with the D3

    I have the choice between the D3 and one of the new Enduro helmets like the Stage, what are your thoughts on those new lighter DH approved helmets?

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому +1

      HeliMoto i like the Stage if I was to go another lightweight fullface. But for me protection is paramount so I stick with the D3. In terms of crash protection, I had a Fox Proframe and crashed in it, and it was horrible. I had a pretty hard concussion from an impact that would’ve been way less severe in the D3. Since that experience I wouldn’t recommend the Proframe to anyone. The Stage is superior to the Proframe, but not quite D3 level protection.
      You gotta make the choice whether you wanna sweat more on the climbs for the extra peace of mind, of be more comfortable and potentially pay the price in a worst case scenario crash.
      Dress for the slide not the ride

      @@mtbtelly5522 I agree with you 100%, what I really need to do is get a D3 or D4 and get a helmet with a removable chin bar for the climb and snap the chin bar on for the descent. The D3's main purpose is for lift-assisted riding at resort here in Utah that has some serious rocks. D3 it is.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  4 роки тому +2

      HeliMoto with the removable chin bar style, they can cut your face up pretty bad if they break in a crash. The Stage seems super breathable without the need to remove anything.
      Something to think about anyway.
