This video just randomly got recommended to me. As someone who watches a lot of Aussie car reviews, let me tell you that you're a natural. Better than half the car reviews I've seen. Can't believe this is your first car review video!
@@EllyAwesomeTech Being a tech reviewer, you can do a tech review of the Dolphin. Focus on what you can do with the BYD app, touchscreen and tech use cases of the car. Far too many other EV reviews just focus on the drive and space, not enough tech.

I bought a BYD Dolphin in Thailand. After 4 months and almost 10,000 km I am very satisfied with it.
I bought one of these a month ago. You should demo the voice control, cos that is tech to impress "Hi BYD open passenger window half way", "Hi BYD drive me to work". If you are brave, demo the Intelligent Cruise Control and the car just drives itself down the MWY 😎Love this car.
Nice review! You mentioned with the boot why they don’t just provide it with the deeper option rather than two layers. You can have that! With my handover the BYD person unclipped the top layer and simply placed it on the lower layer. So I have the deeper boot space but can revert it back if I want to put the back seats down and have a flat storage area.
Are you sure the Oz models don't have seat ventilation ? It come as standard on all the trims in Thailand. Its a wonderful feature not to have a sweaty back 😁
TYSM Elly, I am still deciding between EV & Hybrid with complicated parts in the engine compartment. EV seems to have my thumbs UP👍more than the hybrid after your presentations. Is this car good enough for daily traffic congestion in countries with hot climates?
That was a fun review and I really enjoyed it. On looking the choice of colours I noticed that there was a pink + grey. That reminded me of one of favourite albums called "In the land of Grey and Pink".
There is a strong plastic-like smell in our new Dolphin. It did somewhat subside a bit after we left it in the sun. Did anyone else have it too when first got it?
It's certainly not tiny! I walked past a Toyota Corolla the other day and thought sh!t! It looks tiny (compared to the Dolphin!). The Dolphin is a great size! :)
@@EllyAwesomeTech Just had a look at a nearby showroom, the pictures quite deceiving. It's actually bigger than a Yaris, Prius C, i thinks its most probably bigger than most B segment hatch!
It all works really well. I thought the lane keep assist was a bit touchy on mis-marked roads though so I'd turn it off a lot of the time. Otherwise everything is well done.
I gonna consider an EV when petrol prices goes like $2/L... But the only concern for me is when there would be as many supercharging stations as petrol stations
Who designed the cup holder? Don't they have extensive tests like spill, grip, and obviously variations of items? Can be a deal breaker when you go places with your partner and it can't keep 2 drinks
It’s range is 490km (Premium model) and I’ve been charging it once every two weeks. I can charge it at home in a normal wall plug and takes about 5 hours to get 20% battery. Or I can fast charge it out at a proper charger and it’s like about an hour for full charge
You didn't talk about the acceleration of the base model which is VERY slow, BYD does this deliberately to force buyers to upgrade. Initial pickup speed is important for most male drivers.
I haven’t driven it but that’s interesting to know. I appreciate pickup speed in all cars also. I tested the Kia EV6 GT recently (0-100km in 3 sec) and now I find it hard to go back, haha. 0-7 sec minimum! Btw it’s not just males! And also, this is a review of the Premium.
Byd is telling you to not go to McDonalds. Seriously, going to fast food and grab a drink not a thing in China, but those cup holders are bad even in China standard
You funny 😂😂. If you put an alternator on each wheel you will never have to charge the car just drive it. Heaps better duty on there environment & no wasting copper on charging cables & POWRRLINES. & You can make a small capacitor/battery instead on the huge 1000kk shit battery your now have 👍👍👍
you have been grifted, they are fire hazards , no insurance companies will give you a reasonable policy because they may spontaneously explode. Besides all that it is no more greener to drive than a 2 litre diesel which takes 5 mins max to fill, how long does an electric car take? Imagine going on Christmas holidays when everyone has electric cars, how long would the lines waiting for a charger be? In China there is big fields of these cars sitting there waiting for one to explode, no one wants them over there. They are not practical and defiantly not green, especially when you weigh up the resources and energy used to produce it. It will never pay off the energy to produce it, all a big con by an Electric Jesus.
I don’t mean this to be disregarding your comment but do you have sources that back up all this information? I’m generally curious. Obviously I wouldn’t want my car to fking explode on me but I don’t see how anything you’re saying is true. Please cite your sources so I can be across this info as someone who will be using this car for months to come
There’s too much mis-information these days and you do sound an awful lot like someone who’s regurgitating the current fear-mongering and sensationalised news reporting on electric cars specifically the racist reporting on Chinese technologies. Cheers :)
I haven’t seen any news about BYD’s new battery blade batteries exploding. Previous ternary lithium batteries would explode, and there are many videos on the Internet of Teslas exploding or losing control. So please comment objectively.
@@saahan-nn1fe a channel called -China Observer shows many video's about things in China that the government there doesn't want the world to know. They have some video's showing many EV's exploding into flames, taking off on their own and brakes do not stop them all kinds of problems like motor bearings collapsing because of low quality parts, frames of substandard build , the list is endless.

I bought a BYD Dolphin in Thailand. After 4 months and almost 10,000 km I am very satisfied with it.
I went to check out the BYD seal and My wife saw this Dolphin in Pink, with Pink interior. Now we have to buy a Seal and a Dolphin
Haha! Hope you both enjoy them
hahah i love the pink one

What a great, fun review. Loved it.
Nice work Elly! Your authenticity and curiosity is such a treat in this world of bored and jaded motoring journalists (myself included). Keep it up!
Great video, I'm so proud of you Elly!☺️
Naww thank you so much! I spent almost 3 weeks on this haha
Always a pleasure, I'll see you on the next one!😁@@EllyAwesomeTech
Cheers, about to get a white one. Was good to see the practical bits like how to open it and the drink bottles. Would love to see road trips
Why are Aussies so good at UA-cam? I swear, y'all have it all figured out!
Aww, dude that means so much! Thank you :D
It's a compulsory subject in school here.

Thanks Wheels team! 😊
This is such an Aussie review and I love it! Great energy! ❤
I've had my Dolphin for 3 months, totally agree the cup holders suck!!! Love the car though. Great review
This is the best car review ive ever watched, haha please do more!
Had no idea you made a new channel, woo! Great review, definitely on my shortlist for cars in the future.
Thank you! Yes, I’ve moved over to here 😊
Lovely review.

Thanks Elly, thoroughly enjoyed your video. As a fellow short person on UA-cam, I appreciate your perspective. 😉 BTW, very convincing accent. ☺
That would be fun. ☺@@_Sensei_88
This is a great and detailed review from an ordinary people(non car guy).👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. BTW did you swap the original tire?
My wife is keen on a Dolphin in pink as our second car. What was the lead time between ordering and getting it delivered?
1-2 months :) but website will quote you up to date info or BYD showroom

Beautiful BYD dolphins
Loved your review. Does the base model have a less powerful motor than the one you reviewed?
How does the grey and pink interior hold up against getting dirty now that you’ve had the car for almost a year?
Love your personality Elly your brilliant. Should be tv and have your own show. Subbed girl 👍
Cheers mate
@@EllyAwesomeTech all good 🙏🏻
There’s a glasses holder above the door on the driver’s side. :)
The horses staring in judgment 😂😂😂
Awesome review
✌🏻🎉 nice presentation
Well Done..
Only down side of the Dolphin, being 6.5 Just do not Fit 8-(
Love my Atto 3
Just a Suggestion I would have Covered the Number pate..
Cute in pink🎉🎉🎉
Hi, is second row cool enough in australian hot sunny weather?
Hilarious review. Will be interesting to see if people buy them.
Wow, i thought the Dolphin is a small compact car, its so big!

Fun, cute and zippy...the car ain''t badd either! 😁
Haha :P
What can you say about the ADAS features of it? Is it good? Any annoying bits (if because it doesn't work well enough)?

very cute and nice! very suitable for lady, interior is great!

It takes me 1 minute to charge each week. 30 seconds to plug the charger in at night and 30 seconds to unplug it next morning.
lookwise its very pretty
ELLY ❤❤ looking good 👍

Based on the title, I hope you nicknamed the car Thomas 🤣.
😍
That was actually a good British accent 😂
The big flaw of this car is the max charging speed of only 88 kW. Too few compared to the competition..
I also like physical buttons. But not in a car...
I mean it’s a hybrid of both, majorly touchscreen with some extra physical controls so it works
Personality bursting out like skittles

Who drinks McDonalds soda, cola bottles or energy drinks anymore? :)
My Dolphin cup holders are just perfect for my morning flat white and normal 7/11 water bottles.
You are cuter than a car. I like your smile and personality so much. Wow, that’s great.
