I worked on A4s for a long time. In all my years of hands on experience I never once saw, or even heard of, a gun pod.
Did they carrie air to air missiles if so what kind?
@@BedCat1432 the A-4 was capable of carrying up to 4x AAMs most notably the AIM-9L in the M variant and the Shrafir 2 in the N variant

@@BedCat1432, yes they did. AIM 9b if my memory serves correctly. Rarely carried more than one because the main mission was ground attack. Primary weapons were almost always 250 or 500 lb bombs. Napalm and rockets were fairly common too. Didn’t use the 20 mm canons very often because they weren’t very reliable. They were accurate, but jammed just about every time after one burst. Pilots considered them the last option if they really had to engage in a dogfight.

This plane was my first "modern" looking plane, and I had a lot of fun back in the day, and feels better than the E version. it's sad that it doesn't come with countermeassures
Everytime I try to have fun in the A-4B/E Early, it get killed by a Sea Vixen or a Su-25 😒

The A4E early is not noob friendly , I got it after the only experience I had playing jets was the me262 , the stock grind makes it borderline useless and you lose all your speed very quickly compared to other fighters , The AIM9Bs will rarely if almost never hit of the person you're shooting at is paying attention and knows you are there ,The A4E early has some potential in skilled hands , but Unfortunately for me i suffer from what is known as a major skill issue using this plane. At 8.7 you will often face Mig 19s , Mig 21s and other supersonic jets in an up tier which will just absolutely kick your shit in. The USA teams at this Br are gonna be filled with other A4Es which will be either stock or piloted by inexperienced players meaning that it is very common to see more than half your team dead within the first 5 minutes in a match. I recommend getting to jets through the normal tech tree past 8.7 if you plan on using this thing in air RB as the skills acquired through doing so will make flying this thing less painful and will mean you are a greater use to your team.
If you still plan on getting the A4E after reading this here's some tips to help you get by ;
1) Always keep your speed High when turning use the keyboard to turn in small parts and avoid using full turn above 800kph as your wings will commit adios.
2) If you want to bomb bases you can carry the 250lbs in the middle of the wings pylon and 1 500lbs bombs on the outer most tips of your wings , this is lightweight and enough to fully destroy 1 base while keeping you fast , you could carry 1 gun pod in the center as well for self defense but if you dont plan on fighting anyone its just extra weight and drag.
3) For air to air combat I run min fuel , x2 Aim9b and x1Gunpod , The AIM9b is pretty useless unless you catch someone within 2km , below supersonic and not paying attention from behind , the gun pod is far better than the two 20mm guns you get which have bad damage and horrible stock accuracy.
4) You will die A lot starting out adapt to the situation and some fights are just unwinnable
5) You see a Mig 21 that wants you dead , you die (you can roll around and force a reversal but it can just loop around and shoot you down)
6) You see a Mig 19 that want you dead , you die (same applies here)
7) you see a Mig 17 that wants you dead , you die
8) When base bombing stay low , stay fast , look around and dont be afraid to drop a flare or two if you notice you've been flying straight for too long.
9) When people see you , they see a free kill , which is what it is , your plane cant out turn a lot of planes you face and only start dogfighting someone when you're alone or our team is with you, this is because you bleed a lot of speed and once you're slow YOU'RE DEAD
10) Keep practicing , try new things learn your plane
ANYTHING WITH MIG IN THE NAME WILL GIVE YOU A TOUGH TIME
playing this plane is rough , you can get 3 - 4 kills but with no teammates you will not be clutching any 1 v 7
you get max up tiers very often which is not fun
Do your best and just grind out tech tree planes man , remember to take breaks to keep your sanity in check , especially when stock , Good Luck.

one thing to note is that the A4 is a wing rip addict and will consistently shed its wings at the slightest negative G pull no matter if the wings are loaded or not, i'm convinced it's either bugged or hilariously incorrect
Here a year later spading the plane right now and despite trying to rip wings on purpose it hasn’t happened yet I’m thinking it was a bug

They also nerfed the shit outta AN/M3 20mm cannons to the point that the HEF ammo is practically useless. I haven't used the cannons enough on the A-4s to compare to before.

They really need to add the A4M Skyhawk 2 into the US since it was the one they exported to the Israeli's as the N. It was the one that got TV and laser spot track.
I just dont get why the A-4B and E are in the same br while the E have access to walleyes and 2 extra bullpups.
For the 20mm cannons, I’ve found better luck with the ground or default belts. The HE round is bugged for some reason
Yea, but why would u want to use the A-4 (any) as a fighter? Sure; I done it too (AAMs only loadout), and its not the worst option, but u fly this plane for CAS, and as a bomber replacement to grind, and do tasks/events.
Also HTF u ended up in a downtier with it, in air RB? That's like 1 in a million for me!

Why i cant airbrake on a4. There is some metal pipes on airbrake that block it. I cant remove them
Those are your boosters, they don't have a keybind by default, enable them in controls and they give you a really nice speed boost.
