The A-4B Skyhawk is an naval attack strike fighter that has 1 very strong attribute which is: rushing. You want to go in as fast as you can to shut the enemy team down because it's not very good when it comes in the long run.

"Don't use it as a ground pounder": one additional caveat to this, bombs can be a good way to grind from stock, you can carry enough 250 lbs to kill a base and a half(ish). The guns can be wildly inaccurate without the new 20mms, I'd definitely recommend going for bombs just to grind at least a few modifications out.
Base rushing can be a blast as well, I've gotten multiple kills with bombs both vs people chasing me and in a head-on.
I’ve been grinding the plane out with the 5-1000 lb bombs. 1 and 3/4 bases as long as you get there before the bombers. If your team has B-57’s you can get there first, however if you have Vautour’s on your team, just turn away and take the long way to the airfield...... 6 upgrades to go!!! Gun pods, 2000 lb bomb and all the rockets and AA missiles.
Inaccurate guns are actually better because you have to aim less

Yes, the randomness of this game is beyond me. You pump tens or hundreds bullets in someone and he won't go down, then your plane explodes from wild sprays one bullet 1.2km away

I fly A4E with one gunpod and aim9. The Mk11 gunpod allows me to get a couple of kills, aim9 allows to engage su7s. If you get a hiding Yak-28, you go get AGMs and get a ticket win. Very good support fighter and good stall fighter. A4E also has a bonus of being a missile neglecting machine
You probably already are, but I recommend using whatever belts have the most API rounds. For whatever reason when I fly jets the HE rounds do absolutely nothing.
Yeah I am, all the belts that have them have the same amount though. Which is 1/4 lol

Things wrong with the A-4B in short:
- You cant upgrade the gunpod so it always stays a shotgun.
- if you pick the loadout with the Mighty mouse rockets the jet CANT take of from a airfield even when timeing the rocket booster perfectly.
Do you have all performance mods?

I’d love to see them add the A-4E to the game and with this already in the game I feel like it would go great after the FJ-4 and before the A-10

That was actually an 8 kill game.
Fun fact, this thing has the same exact engine as the FJ-4 but is about 25% lighter.
This is a delta-wing aircraft though, so it’s energy retention is worse in most maneuvers.

Thanks defyn, I was hoping for someone to upload a Skyhawk gameplay. Fell in love with it when I first saw it in 'The Sum Of All Fears' movie as a child. The last dogfight was really stressful, even though I was just watching it, WEP

@Defyn The gunpod fire rate is supposed to be 4000rpm. The devs are aware of the problem and working it I guess. Since the gunpod is so light (about the same as a single 300lb bomb) it shouldn't impact performance much. Can't wait til it's right. Link below.

I enjoyed it, it's a bit of an odd plane though
(sigh) The game was SO much better when there were just aim-9Bs in the game. Now you have aim-9Gs, R-60s, Red-tops, and a plethora of annoying missiles that can't be dodged. This was so much more fun. Don't even mention the Saggiato 2 and the Vixen.

in sim, it doesnt get one and it cant take off with its payloads if it doesnt have engine upgrades so thats probably why it gets one

by the time when you rush the oposite team they already at your height in mig 21 and dats it. i play A-4E and i just can no do anything, my main plane is mig 17 and it is a very good plane, i love it, but this thing, i just can not do anything, 1 turn and i loose all speed, they climb faster than me, they turn better, they faster. I don't know. maybe i am bad. but not spaded this thing is horrible.
The guns make no sense... I completely missed a guy, got a crit, and then he crashed because of it... other times, I feel like they are just ghost shells.

Can I ask why you killed the b57 with a missile instead of the guns when you were that close? Just curious
the gun ammo is more valueable than the missile, plus its a tanky plane PLUS you gain performance by getting rid of the missiles.
B57 is tanky as hell. I would have done the same. Waste of ammo on that bird.

compared to the event-fj4b? i think it has 1 bullpup less, but how much better is it for the strafing?
Happalula it gets 2 less than the event fj and the tech tree fj has none
