You dont "jig" a dropshot rig. You keep the weight on the bottom while lightly shaking the bait. You can cast it out and "drag" it back to the boat or drop it vertically from the side of the boat.

Yeah which weight?
The weight depends on the depth of water and wind on your particular lake.
What lake are you on?
I've found that most trout like that lift and lower technique
