@@vladimiravrcic there are a lot of groomers that won’t even recognize that an older dog might not have the same range of motion in their joints, might need to take a break or lie down during the process. So she is very good that way. Her motto of trying to always make grooming a good experience for the dog as well is also important. Many dogs will never love being groomed, but having it be something they don’t completely hate is easier for everyone and less stressful for the dog as they age. Her general patient approach to the animals is excellent and can be difficult to maintain. I worked in the horse industry for a long time and I know how hard working with animals can be.

My dad found a Bernese on a camping trip. He wandered into the campsite and collapsed. He must have fallen off a truck because he was so beat up. My grandma nursed him back to health and had to hand feed him for weeks due to a broken jaw. Despite his immense pain he never once growled or nipped and instead licked her hand with gratitude. He was a beloved pet and steadfast watchdog for a decade after ❤️
The 1st time I saw one was as a puppy. He was THE cutest thing I've ever seen. The owners of the restaurant I worked at were dog peeps and brought them in all the time. He he didn't get Tucker big tho'.
No big dog is ever willing to acknowledge how big they are. They like to pretend they are lapdogs, inversely, So small dog likes to acknowledge how small they are. They could weigh 10 pounds and be trying to take on a German Shepherd.

i got a bernie that was badly abused and was terrified of baths when i first got her. i constantly gave her treats while bathing her and eventually she started to feel safer to the point where i would say bath time and she would jump in the tub. took her to a groomer for the first time and was worried but they said she was perfect. so proud of her and how far she has come

This main comment should be pinned. I'm from a country with a warm climate and as beautiful as these dogs are, I would not bring them over here because it would be hellish to the dog's attributes. And too many dogs get abandoned because the owners never considered the dog's ability to adapt.
I thought about it and got my puppy professionally groomed the first time, but I have been grooming him since and I bought a dog air dryer to blow his coat and get him dry. I also make sure to brush him every few days. It can be done by the owners you just have to make sure you have the right materials, which I made sure to buy.
He is such a beautiful boy! I'm so glad that his people recognized what a difference your grooming made in his comfort level. He clearly doesn't love the process but the results give him a much better quality of life. You do such excellent work Vanessa!

No reputable Berner breeder would ever allow their dogs to be used to create a doodle. You are not missing a thing. They will eventually lose their tan marking and look like and expensive mutt.
@@brianb7844 and? I'd rescue any breed of dog it doesn't matter to me. My dog is a German shepherd/Rottweiler/cane corso she's absolutely not done filling out yet. We rescued our cats 2 have 7 toes also known as polydactals which go for $500 to $1800 plus tax. So almost $2500 dollars per cat if you get a "high end" one. Ours are rescues and are probably worth the 1800 range due to their long beautiful fur, elegant features and sweet personalities.
My first long-term interaction with a dog was a Bernese mountain dog... in the Swiss mountains actually XD Every morning when I went to bring bread to the family slightly more uphill, which was a 20 minute walk in the snow, the dog of the family I was staying with would accompany me. I did not ask him to, he'd just wake up, notice that I was getting out and follow me. I stayed there two months as part of a youth agricultural program and he never missed a day, snow or sunshine. It's good to know that his coat must have kept him warm, I bet these are very loyal creatures and he would probably have done it even if he was feeling cold...
We had a huge Pyrenees, Mr Biggs, he loved the Springtime when we gave him the “poodle cut”. Clipped as much hair off him as we could but left him a lot to protect his body. He would just lay down in the yard and say…have at it! We just turned him any which way we needed to to get him trimmed. He was the best dog. He only lived to just under 9 years old. He is missed every day.
Bernese mountain dogs are so sweet and adorable. A friend had one and my cranky cat ran up to him and started purring. I've never seen anything like it and the dog just stood there and accepted the love.
I had always just had my German Shepard join me in the shower for a bath, so when I got sick and could not do her monthly shower, she went to the groomers for the first time. I luckily had a groomer that showed German Shepard’s so she knew what she was doing. She loved that my Shepard loved the water and had obedience training, and only had to get her used to the super dryer. I loved that my dog came back with the undercoat shed out for summer. Boy, that was worth every penny! Good groomers are great!!!

Love this! I own a fluffy dump truck too! (Burmese mountain dog/Border collie mix). I just started on grooming yesterday. He has mixed feelings about it because he feels better but it takes me a lot longer to do it than a professional. Love your videos!
I just want you to know that the thing I appreciate most about the way to treat dogs is that you don't spray them in the face with your sprayer. You always use your hands. I wish all groomers would be so thoughtful. ❤️
Thunder looks like our neighborhood's Bernese. He loved riding his owners' vintage Jeep, and was popular among the kids of the local school. He was so loved that his owners' pasted signs announcing his passing. Such a good dog.

Like, shaving paw pads and trimming grinch feet to also improve traction makes total sense, but I had no idea the undercoat can impact temperature regulation so much (I'm thinking heat exhaustion) I'm delighted that the benefits of grooming are more than just skin deep lol
Gotta love those months when they blow coat. As soon as I see the extra fur in the brush and clumps of hair appearing in the house, I know it's time to call my sister-in-law (she's my groomer, has her own mobile grooming van). The squirrels and birds and other rodents love fall blow-out tho, they use the fur for their nests 😄
I have to say, after watching your videos I am 100% getting a blower when we get out next dog. I had a Bernese, and especially in spring, I would brush him for almost an hour every night with a deshedder/, under coat rake and I would still get so much fur. Being able to just take him outside and blow most of it out would make life so much easier for both of us!

@Thomas R My Newfie is a gentle giant. I can see how his size would be intimidating but his face is so angelic it's just disarming. My Great Dane was a sweet girl too, but I could see how people might've felt intimidated by her because she was pure muscle and super fast on her legs.

I know they look kinda doofy but they're brilliant. I have a 4 year old Berner and he is sweet, smart, and a love bug that has no idea how big he is.

Groomer here. I wear rain boots for bath and dry time, and then I just slip into my crocs for everything else. Boots tend to get hot and sweaty.

Most self service dog washes have them , that's what we use 😊 really cheap too like $10
