If your dogs move put a suction cup on where you wash them s on Amazon really cheap y oh can smear any food on there and they lick it while you wash or groom them
I was at a cancer center yesterday, and one of the therapy dogs was a Bernese Mountain Dog. Three years old, she was a real sweetheart ❤. Then about an hour later, a golden retriever shows up! I was in heaven. My last pup was a golden. She came to me at age four, and was with me thirteen incredible years❤
I have one of each, a golden and a bernese.....I AM IN HEAVEN.....amazing dogs that just give endless love and affection....glad you got to enjoy them :)
For those saying don’t shave them and talking about how important the top coat is I highly recommend you actually watch the whole video because you’re making it obvious that you didn’t. She knows. She mentions it to the owners. Watch before criticizing.
I watched the whole video. Except for pad area and a few stray hairs around toes they are not meant to be trimmed in any fashion. Regular brushing with a slicker, non-bladed rake and comb is all they need. I have an almost 3 year old who I wash, dry and groom myself and he looks gorgeous. Owners of Bernese know going in they are high maintenance.
Berners are one of the most amazing breeds. Unfortunately, there seems to be alot of health issues and very short lives in dogs bred in the US. IMO new healthier bloodlines with a focus on longevity(10+ years) & no genetic issues need to be introduced. If you are truly a responsible breeder and your aim is to improve the breed,,, THEN DO IT. Don't just talk about it and keep pumping out puppies that die early deaths.
@@talesfromtheleashbernieamy1960 This seems to be a worldwide problem, in Europe there is a "bad rep" so to speak, regarding the bernese. They barely lives 8 years, maybe that's a genetic disorder that can't be easily prevented. Most big dogs are like this, so there is not a sense of urgency amongst the breeders, it's how it is. Sadly, but the reality of giant dogs is a short life spam
That's how Berners are! So gentle, calm, and sweet. I have an approx. 7 y/o Berner (adult adoption) and she is exactly the same. Except when you trim her nails, she doesn't like that much :p
Bernese Mountain dogs are true dog goals. Brock and Brody are what any pet parent would want when dropping off their boys at the groomers. Great job on grooming both of them! The final look was a nice coat length. - - I know I am not a lone when I say I would love a Newfoundland dog and Bernese Mountain dog as pets. imo these are the absolute BEST dog breeds.
I'm SO glad you did this video!! I had a beautiful Bernie for almost 10yr. I lived in Denver, CO. & altho it's generally cooler than the South, we're not as cool as the mountains. By his 2nd summer I'd found a great groomer who did all those things you showed including the trim! Murphy LOVED IT! So did I! He was so much more comfortable getting out of his winter coat. As you explained so well, my groomer also kept his coat long enough to help insulate him from the summer heat. After she'd gotten all his shedding coat brushed, combed, pulled & washed off of him, then she'd trim up his coat, legs & feet. First thing he did at home was head for the shaded grass out back, rolled in the cool grass for a good 20min... then, as soon as I sat down to join him, he fell sound asleep! Altho I'd gotten him as a cute 'little' fluff ball early in the spring, he & his coat both grew so fast it was Amazing & during those first 2 years I struggled with the increasing amount of fur that he was obviously trying to shed. I never successfully managed to get anywhere near as much off of him as our great groomer & we all lived with his fur everywhere for his 1st 2 years. We enjoyed his summers so much more once he'd get his summer haircuts, wether here in the city, or exploring in the mountains. As the coolness of fall started back, he'd start growing out his coat again. I applaud you for showing what All you actually do with Bernese Mountain dogs, how much work it actually entails & especially why you do what you do for these amazing companions. 😊Thank You!👍🏼
You did a wonderful job with them and i'm sorry you have to deal with all the comments from people who refuse to understand it's none of their business how owners decide to groom their pups.
Thank you for watching! Owners tell us what they want, which not all approve. You are correct, negativity will come on social, but it'll never take away the love we get from grooming dogs.
I am from Puerto Rico and I have a Bernese. I would so take him to you for his grooming. You did an amazing work and I love how sweet you were with them. I wish you the best.
I have a Berner and a Nerner/Pyrenese mix. We call it the Fur(snow)globe when we brush them. It's nice to see all your loving work to make the Berners beautiful.
My groomer loves my two big bears! My boy puts his head on her shoulder and she loves it. They are sooo pretty in sunlight when they are freshly groomed.
My old man (approx 14 years old is a Berner Aussie mix rescue-hence not knowing real age) is like that. They are lumpy oafs. I knew the first day I found him at the shelter 11 years ago that my sarcastic son would be mine. Love him 💙🥰
I know you're not supposed to shave them down but what you did is like perfect! They are probably so much more comfortable in the summer! My berner is almost 5 months old so he doesn't quite have his grown up coat yet. Would you mind sharing what size on the clipper you use for this cut? They look so gorgeous! Great work!!!
Very pretty. It's hard to believe they statistically have 2 years left to live. I want one so badly but just lost my 13 year old black lab and lost my 12 year old Pyrenees. Can't imagine losing one at 6yrs. Just getting the kinks out and settling into life still at that age
You do such a great job! I have a bernie and tub time is not liked. I tried to become a dog groomer...1/2 way through they closed the doors and filed bankruptcy. Didn't even get my tools. :( You're a great groomer!
The last time my Bernese got groomed (at 10 years old) she looked about 3 years old. The most beautiful dogs ever. and these guys looked brilliant after there "pampering" well done
Wow I love how kind you are with the grooming especially in comparison to others I’ve watched . Very nice thank you ! Shampoo recommendations for Pyrenees ?
I had two Bernese and did the same haircuts and LOVED them! Beautiful! My dogs both loved these cuts and acted like puppies after. It helps with them if they like to swim as well. Where did the owner get these Bernese? They are beautiful and want one!
Seriously! Great job! Exactly what my vet told me to do with our Berner this summer. He is 10.5 and needs to be cool. If you would please share what you used to trim them, that would be great!
I am fairly new to the whole Berner thing, but have owned dogs for 40 years and passionate about animals of all types (except snakes, sorry). I see some insanely rude and disrespectful remarks here attacking a groomer for doing her job just because you don't personally agree with the owners choice. Yet none of you know the owners or why they made the specific choice they did. You are assuming based on YOUR preconceived concepts. Honestly, if you don't like it, don't watch or don't follow. It is quite simple. Too many keyboard warriors getting way too hyped up over a haircut. Relax until or unless you get ALL the information. The groomer did her job and she apparently does it well based on how many views her videos are getting for a small one location groomer.
My Bernese is my service dog and I also trim his hair because it is better suited for his job when it's not completely grown out. Some might say well why did you get a Bernese if you are going to cut his hair and my response is because I needed a dog with his temperament, size, strength and intelligence. Also, I live in an extreme environment and my boy always has an AC running BUT he is acclimated to our environment and is comfortable during the day laying on the tile floors without being in his AC
@@talesfromtheleashbernieamy1960 hi there! i have a one year old berner in FL for similar reasons. is it ok to cut his hair? i read mixed things but you living in a warm environment as well i wanted to ask u
They look so much better now, I bet they felt light as a feather after this! I'd have loved to see a shot of just how much fur came off of them altogether, I bet you could fill a whole duvet with it haha 🥰
Looks so good I know you shouldn’t shave them. But think I am going to have my St. Bernard shaved also. It’s to hot in Arizona and it should cut down on all the hair
Lol other people are saying stuff about coats and fluff. I own rottweilers and their fur sticks to their skins, so I totally can't relate to what they're saying, but I just love watching these grooming vids 😆
They're obviously so happy! I prefer to leave their feathers and top coat - I think they look more beautiful than the trimmed look. My preference. The dogs are proud of how they look, though. You can tell!
During autumn months, we have a tree or two that drops leaves that are kinda like stickers and sticks to my babies...I have a schnauzer and cocker spaniel and they do look better with longer hair. such good dogs. my rabbit wont even keep still. !

I agree if you do shave double coats try not to shave the undercoat for obvious reasons but they do look so cute 😍
I had 2 and they literally shed so much there was always random clumps of fur on the floor all over the house like tumbleweeds
Tumbleweeds 😂 soo true! I just swoop down and grab a couple clumps when walking
