The 3D shift really helps with the visual flair and style! To further advance this style I suggest things like small bugs moving, leaf/pollen particles, swaying grass/trees, etc.
12 years ago I used to develop games, then I quit. Now im 27 and your series has inspired me to follow my dreams again PSA: Flash sale (50-70% off assets) on Unity Asset store in the next 2-3 weeks for Black Friday/Cyber Monday Also July is when they have HUGE sales (70% off)
I'm super excited about this I'm going to watch this episode and the whole the series for one reason and one reason only.... It's literally impossible for a single person to make a successful MMO. I'm clicking like and subscribe. I'm here for the long ride. Let's see how far we go.
Yeah the change looks amazing 1:29 I've been here for more than a year now and I can say this is the coolest update yet ALso the depth look here is super cool?! 5:17
Umm Cool! I feel the different in 2D to 2.5D visual style. It open the eye. But we do tend to not to read the manual or docs. I mean skipping what need for used. XD
1) Don't you think changing the game into 3D will introduce lot of headaches that 2D might not have? Specially since you are a solo dev? 2) Maybe you could document the things you find (like the re-ordering hierarchy and enabling depth buffer things) somewhere public so people in the future can refer that. Since seems like most of the things you have stumbled upon not documented in the relevant forums/documentation By the way i love the new look of the game :-)
This is prolly one of the best cases for AI. Not it writing code or anything like that, but talking to it about some issue and it bringing up like oh idk, lerp_angle that I had no idea about in Godot, or the one option in Unity you just found in this video lmao.
I found that little bit of info buried in a 5 year old unity forum. You have to click the broken part, wait a second, then click again. Very deceptive.
Be careful with probuilder as a end solution. It tends to only be used for prototyping because the mesh gets rebuilt every time a scene gets loaded at runtime. I think you can export them tho, not sure. I tend to just remake it in blender.
Good to know, although I removed all the probuilder scripts from the wall objects so it is just a probuilderMesh and MeshRender. I wonder if that will help
@@noiadev I think the probuildermesh is the culprit, its a kind of mesh filter so it would make sense that's where the rebuilding is happening. Though don't take it as gospel, I'm not 100%
Hey bro just some quick heads up, not sure if it's a problem to you... but Noia is a common term in portuguese to refer crackheads. and nice project! thanks for sharing.
DUDE this is great looking, but if your truly going to go this route do yourself a favor just take a look at Dragon Quest 2d/3d that just came out.. They have 3rd modeled backgrounds that look amazing not saying what you did is bad but if you could come up with that kind of look man that would be next level++
ive been quietly lurking for 2 years, this update made me break that silence just to say: the 2.5D perspective looks very promising, nice job. Back to lurking.
you could try to add a lookout point on the map somewhere. Maybe a mountain you can climb and then look down on the world below as a bit of a hangout spot for players, or for cinematic moments where you want the player to be able to see what is happening on a larger scale.
Been following this dev since day 1 and im so happy to see it get better each day. A 3d of this will definitely stand out among other 2d mmos
But will it stand among other 3d MMOs??
0:30 "Why is this broken now" is probably in top 3 sentences ever used in game dev
along with "what is this error on line 527" and tied in first, every profane word and/or slur ever
Lets go! Excited to see 4D in the next devlog!

Wow this change really elevates the style of the game and it was fascinating to hear how you achieved it!
Tinkertown clips were what inspired me to take my game to 2.5D also 😭 The tilt-shift DOF effect took me forever to figure out
Dramatic change! Brand new game! 🎮 What will the world think? 🌎 🤯
Huge improvement, love this HD2D look. Left a subscribe to follow the project.
I had watch some of the early devlogs a year ago. Glad to see the process, I really like the way you narrate it.
Wow the art style is really starting to become it's own thing and looks way more impressive!
Looks amazing! Keep up the great work

Interesting, as IT student I begin another try to make an online game :) you gave me a little inspiration :D
I wanna support you in any way I can. Good luck on your journey.
this randomly spawn on my suggestion but since its spawn imma subs to see the progress keep up the work
I love this style! Way to go!
Wowww! This is the future! 2.5D I am loving the style!
I like the cinnimatic intro, it lends itself well to the new cinnimatic camera
This is by far the coolest update I’ve ever seen! Good work!
I feel your pain but man this is looking so good!
You are brilliant.
You are seriously a huge inspiration for me.
The first 30 seconds basically sums up how I learned to make games lol
Mana to the Mana gods 🔮!
Absolutely amazing transformation. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Yeah the change looks amazing 1:29
I've been here for more than a year now and I can say this is the coolest update yet
ALso the depth look here is super cool?! 5:17
When I realized that was a debug view option in the depth of field plugin, I instantly started wondering if I could use that in game somewhere.
Holy goddamn and when to think it couldnt get any better!
Amazing work! Truly inspiring!

The best episode so far! I love the new 3D look. keep going dude you're doing a great job

2) I am 1 dev XD. Time has to get spent somewhere, I do try to make a reddit post when I discover something crazy.

I'll give you one guess on what told me "Sprite renderers cannot write to the depth buffer"
@@noiadev lmao, also Clockwork Raven has some of the best looking art, can't wait to see more updates!
This looks GORGEOUS
this looks so much better, its to the point where i might actually be interested in playing it now. Before I just enjoyed the videos :)
looks much better now 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was there at the very beginning on the discord server
ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!!!!!
oh shit 3D gonna look so cool!
like a new game fr
This looks way better
You are such a spaz......................................and I love it.
Hell yeah!
I have literally redone MULTIPLE animations due to re-ordering the hierarchy... did not know you could just rename them
I found that little bit of info buried in a 5 year old unity forum. You have to click the broken part, wait a second, then click again. Very deceptive.
I've also had to redo so many animations, wish that would be documented somewhere oof
@@noiadev not even a simple right click to open up a menu 🥲 good find man

Good job bro! don't forget to get some sleep you sound a lil tired 😂
Lets gooo 😤😤😤
this is really interesting
Consider using normal textures on some sprites to make it look even better!
How does the orthographic camera looks with it? Things should stop looking "flat" if you did it (unless that's the look you're going for anyway)
Cool
2:53 LMAO

Oh I've seen it. "real" 3d models/backgrounds would be so...expensive.....both money and performance. Dunno if I could keep the web build
@@noiadev Ahh I forgot you were planning on web as well forget what I said this still looks like a really amazing upgrade. Keep up the great work.
Take a look into OCTOPATH TRAVELER II, maybe it can help you with some inspiration
Been meaning to play thought that
This video made me remember why I hate unity
Great Work by the way
