      Roland, are you that gullible? If you read the context of John 10:30, it is obvious that Jesus and the Father are one in purpose and will because he only does the will of the Father. Same idea at John 17:20-23 where the Father, Jesus, and disciples are one. And we know how Jesus understood the charge at John 10:33 because he quotes this Psalm: "I said, “You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High." The only God is Jesus Christ's God. Don't be so deluded. And Shamoun doesn't even hear what he is saying. Sanctified and sent into the world. God the Son needed to be sanctified before being sent into the world. Absolutely nothing in this context refers to Jesus being the same ousia as the Father. But you get to imagine up whatever you like in Trinitarianism don't you?

      @@FatherOnly If 'you' read the context of John 10:30 it is obvious that Jesus and the Father are one in purpose and will because Jesus does only what the Father does: gives eternal life, assures security of salvation and in the previous context claims to be able to rise Himself from the dead and declares that all have eternal life because of Him. What human, prophet, angel, created being has this power as the Father does? But I guess it's easy to reject Trinitarianism when you don't understand it don't you? (been there before)

      @@damsondaniel2527 Moses and the Qur’an by John Kaltner
      Here’s an interesting trivia question that hardly anyone gets right: What person is mentioned by name the most times in the Qur’an? If you guessed Muhammad you’d be wrong, because he’s referred to by name only four times in the approximately 6,300 verses of Islam’s sacred text. The correct answer is Moses, who is named a remarkable 115 times. More narrative is devoted to him than to any other person, biblical or not. That fact takes many non-Muslims by surprise, but there are some good reasons for the heavy coverage Moses enjoys in the Qur’an.
      The most important reason is that Moses was not only a prophet but also a messenger. The Qur’an teaches that certain prophets were also charged with bringing a divinely revealed text to their people, and this is what makes them messengers. Moses, along with David (the Psalms), Jesus (the gospel), and Muhammad (the Qur’an), is identified as a messenger, and the name of his book is the Torah (in Arabic, tawrat). The Qur’an relates much information about Moses’ life and work as a prophet/messenger, but it does not contain a unified and cohesive biographical account like the one found in the Hebrew Bible. Rather, it refers to Moses in many places throughout the text, and often the passages are only a few verses in length. In addition, there are sometimes multiple versions of the same event that don’t always agree on the details, which can cause confusion for readers familiar with the biblical account. The longest treatment of Moses is found in 20:9-99, and if you read that section you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the Qur’an has to say about him.
      Many of the Moses traditions in the Bible have counterparts in the Qur’an, but they are usually told in a way that reflects Islamic theology and beliefs. For example, in its telling of Moses’ birth (28:3-13), the Qur’an has the same story about a newborn who is raised in Pharaoh’s household after his mother puts him in the river (see Exod 2), but there’s an interesting twist. In the Qur’an’s version, God is a major character who is involved with everything that happens from beginning to end. This is in marked contrast to the biblical story, where God isn’t mentioned a single time.
      The reason for this difference is simple: Islam teaches that God is all-powerful and in control of everything that happens, so of course the deity would be an active participant in every aspect of Moses’ birth story. In the biblical version, on the other hand, we have to read between the lines or assume God is working behind the scenes in order to make the deity an active part of the story. In this case, as elsewhere when it treats biblical characters, the Qur’an makes God’s presence more obvious and clear.
      Other qualities that are central to the Qur’an’s view of God are mercy and forgiveness, and they are manifested in the famous golden calf episode. The biblical account (Exod 32) presents a very angry and harsh picture of God, who is fed up with the Israelites and orders them to kill three thousand of the worst offenders before sending a plague for good measure. The Qur’an story (7:148-54) moves in the opposite direction, as all the human characters-Moses, Aaron, and the Israelites-experience God’s mercy, and all their relationships are strengthened through divine care and compassion.
      Of course, God is active, merciful, and forgiving in the Bible as well, but in some places the Qur’an goes to extra lengths to underscore those traits. Many of those stories involve Moses, whether he is encountering God at the burning bush, competing against Pharaoh’s magicians, escaping the Egyptian forces through the dried-up sea, or communing with God on the mountain. As the Qur’an’s leading man, he has a role that can hardly be called trivial.
      John Kaltner, "Moses and the Qur’an", n.p. [ci

    @JEAthePrince 4 роки тому

    Hey David, I loved the whole explanation up to 3:28. I just wanna state that although Jesus used the example that Sons of God are gods, Jesus is the Begotten Son of God. That makes Jesus the King of the kings, or the Son of God of the sons of God. Jesus Himself is actually not about to be stoned for their misinterpretation of His speech, but they must understand that they would be stoning Him under the accusation He is a liar, but they themselves don't understand they are supposed to understand they are considered the same. They need to remember God made them in His image and scripture says we are like them, meaning now we are like God, knowing good and evil. So the Sons of God are those who hear the Gospel and spread it and keep it. Jesus wasn't implying in thst moment He is not God, He is implying that they would be stoning Him for something major, when in minor sense, they must also be gods for keeping the law.

      in short. they, the children of Israel, are being lectured on being too tolerant and not using wise judgment. Jesus later argues this same point. Jeremiah argues it. Isaiah argues it. John argues it.
      God is standing in the congregation of the mighty. which at that time was his house. they were allowing things to slide. they were not following the voice of truth, the commands of morality sealed in our foreheads, as God gave us.
      Instead they were being passive toward evil.
      Jesus was pointing out that God judges the congregation of "gods"(small g) and they are identified as gods according to God.
      read all Psalms in context and carry on to the next.
      the tribes of Jacob are known as gods to the other inhabitants of earth. then they forget who they are, so do the other people. only to realize they were indeed the gods later. even in revelation ppl bow down to worship them.

    What I don't understand is: if we have it established in the OT that the word god or elohim can be used figuratively, then doesn't that take alot of strength from NT passages which may seem to call Jesus god? It could also be that they were just meant figuratively, as in a righteous person or judge? And then the issue of the jews killing him for his claims can be explained by their general hostility and stubborness. I mean there are plenty of narratives about the children of Israel being stubborn and or hostile towards their Prophets

The fall of the angels occurred because Satan, in his pride, would no longer worship God after He revealed to them His intention to incarnate His Word in a human body and make the Word "lower than the angels" (Hebrews 2:7) for a short time. Satan would not worship the God incarnate.
    The apparent separation of the triune God into the Son of Man and the ancient of days (Daniel 7) is precisely what we find as defined as the worst sin in Islam;... shirk or the sin of association. Mohamed redefines the incarnation as the worst sin against God when it is in fact God's solemn plan for salvation from all eternity. Therefore the sin of Satan in rejecting God's plan of salvation is completely justified in Islam. The evil thought process of Satan is completely validated and exalted while God's plan for salvation is twisted into becoming the the worst sin of Islam.
    The Islamic definition of shirk and the way it is applied to Christianity is the single biggest lie in all history! This lie is believed as a core doctrine by almost 1.5 billion people. Mohamed's twisted ideology of sin is what prevents 1.5 billion God fearing people from knowing Christ...In Islam the sin of Satan is imposed on mankind. This is the lie we must all expose!
    God bless!

      The fact that the oldest mosque in the world is in China and that Islam was never able to convert China in 1400 years proves that without the sword and with even birth rates between religions, Islam doesn’t spread at all. On the other hand Christianity grows at a rate of 10% per year in China and it will in a few decades be the largest Christian nation in the world.

I think before the flood . that's why it's said of them ..you will die like men...coz they were not mere men..but elohim..sons of God.

    Just because Jesus said this does not mean it can be used to rebuke the fact that he is the Lord. I don't understand how they can twist this up. If God is our father and he is a God then how is it that if we are his children we are not all little gods in his eyes? It is possible that we are that but it doesn't mean God is not above us. We can have power but God's power will always be greater than ours especially if he is our father and creator

      How ironic that Trinitarians look for support from the Pharisees of all people! Couple that with the fact that -bad as they were - they at least took the hint, and never accuse him of "making himself God" or "Equal with God" (Depending on which bible translation you favour) again.

    So this means Elohim isnt simply the "royal we" as modern jews and uslims love to present it. This verse is very clear, Elohim means many gods. So Elohim also works in the sense of the trinity.

    • @nb3500
      @nb3500 5 років тому

      @Jon Son Whenever the word "elohim" is accompanied by singular verbs or pronouns the plural is used not to denote number but rather magnitude. So for instance we read: "In the beginning God (elohim) created (bara) the heavens and the earth." The word "elohim" is plural but the word "bara" is singular so it's literally "He created" indicating one Person. Psalm 82:6 reads: "I have said, 'you are gods (elohim)." Here the word "you" in Hebrew is plural therefore "elohim" here refers to multiple persons.

    There's so much avoidance of the citing of Psalms 82:6 and downplaying the verse when it really means just that. You are gods, in essence, regardless of your doing. Only because you don't know this that you would do evil, and die like men (you think you do).
    Human mind thinks: these people does evil then the scripture must be just joking when it says they are gods. Observe how the mind would try hard to bend the scripture to suit their limited understanding. When what we really need is to adjust our frame of mind to understand it as it is. You are gods. I hope you see it.

    I believe Psalm 82 was God talking to spirits who govern the nations, not humans. Similarly, I think Jesus was punking the Pharisees, talking to them about being gods which softened their hearts and confused them because they want that power, but what He was really saying is they are of their father, the evil spirits who God judged on Psalm 82.
    Edit: he actually says this at the end of the video. Cool
