    Great video. I had the same problems. All wood frame for front and back are rut out. I had to replace with bigger support bracket and install some insulation to prevent any moisture and cold from entering the camper.

    Wildly informative and detailed! Great video and good ideas. My brother and I took his back panel off and experienced similar rot patterns and some rough repairs from likely the previous owner. Will definitely be using this video as a template while we work!

    This was so helpful! We just bought a project and the guy before us left it outside and uncovered and the ENTIRE back was rotten. We’re working on this part currently.

    Just what I've been looking for too! Thank you so much. I was trying to decide if I wanted to tackle this or get rid of the camper. Now that I know what is involved, I can give it a shot. Thanks again for posting this!

      Glad it helped. Good luck. Sold my camper last year, but it was a great help to show the new owner that it is more robust than it was when made.

    Is the rear panel flush with the rear side corners?

    How did you remove the plastic molding that’s on each side holding the fiber glass panels? And did you reinstall it after you were finished? I have the same issue you did and I’m thinking about tackling this on my own..😬😬

    I just bought a pop up and the floor in the back left corner is rotted and I think the back wall and side wall is too. The back corner sags down a bit but the frame is level. Thoughts?

    Would you please explain step by step how to get started, what to remove first, second, etc. Also, what screws did you use to replace the factory screws? Thanks!

    • @lovegun1414
      @lovegun1414  3 роки тому +2

      First off is the platic channel covers on each of side trim. Screws for the trim are behind these. Second, the aluminum corner pieces and metal strip across the top come off. From there, the back wall panel will drop down. I used stainless steel screws to avoid any future rust/breaks.

    I was wondering how difficult it would be to speak with you briefly about this project. I need a small word of encouragement or otherwise. I just acquired a 1994 jayco pop up.

    How did you remove the exterior panel?

    • @garyg4628

      Remove the rubber runner on the metal corner caps. Removed corner caps and you will find the panel is only held on with paneling nails along the edges.

    Hi, great video, I'm in the process of doing mine. Exact same set up and problem as yours. That foam padding is expensive- is it necessary to have something like that? My cardboard was also in bad shape, trying to think of something similar for that rather than the foam. Thank you.

    • @lovegun1414
      @lovegun1414  2 роки тому

      That back panel does need some support/stability. Maybe multiple layers of corrugated cardboard or corrugated plastic? Or expanding spray foam, if you block off where the panel will hit framing?

      @@lovegun1414 Thanks, all good ideas. I like the foam padding you used, just hard to find in small quantities.

    I have this same problem but worse. What size screws did you use?

    • @garyg4628
      @garyg4628 4 роки тому

      Hi.. used stainless steel 1.5 inch screws on new wood to avoid corrosion. Reused screws on corned metal channels that have plastic cover strips.

      remove rubber channels from each corner. remove screws. aluminum back panel will be stapled or finish-nailed to framing.
