    I’m sorry about the music. Must have been the headphones I was using while editing. Didn’t think it would bother people this much. There are subtitles if you’re having trouble hearing. (Just click the CC button on the screen) I sadly can’t take out the music after the fact so please try to not take offense. 🙈👍🏼 I verbally apologized in the rehab video as well.

I hope you get to enjoy it for many years. PS, maybe that waterline in question, was for the potty you removed. Just a guess, though. Lol. Look forward to seeing what you do to it, and your adventures in it. :)

      I would think that hose with the strainer on fits into a water jug that you can change The jug as needed. rented one of these from the Navy base while I was in. I don't think I spent $20 for the weekend. That was a really comfortable easy to tow rig. Didn't mind the music at all. It was... relaxing.

    Make sure you have someone repack the wheel bearings with grease before you leave on your maiden voyage. They usually dry out when sitting for long periods of time and can leave you stranded on the side of the road!Good score!

    Great buy, much better buy than the popup I bought in 2010 for a long cross country trip.A little advice. I had many damaged stitches on the tent seams. Good quality waterproof fabric glue, did a great job of fixing them. Also get a 2 foot level and keep it with your camper gear. Use it to level your setup. Before you raise the top. Use it on the roof. I can't remember if I did it front to back, than side to side or the other way around. Than set up the camper and check it on the floor. Even a little bit of unlevel is noticeable if not corrected. Carry some 6inch by one foot boards to place under a wheel on an unleveled camp site. Than drop the stablelizers. One camp I was at needed 8 inches of wood to level out. I even had to put wood under the stablelizers on that side.

      I just scored a free sewing awl the other day. They are pretty cheap to buy too. Good for damaged stiches on tent seams and shoes.

    • @sharonoddlyenough
      @sharonoddlyenough 2 роки тому +3

      If you level side to side first, you can usd your tongue jack to level front to back, then set the stablizers down last.

    • @mveax
      @mveax 2 роки тому +1

      @@sharonoddlyenough Yes I believe that is how I did it. I also carried a small hydraulic jack for tire changing, greasing hubs and yes, leveling the camper That jack came in handy a lot. Grease then hubs, dry bearings can sieze and weld themselves to your axel. O yea, a good hacksaw, a hammer and lots of time will remove a siezed and welded bearing. Easier to grease em.

    • @mveax
      @mveax 2 роки тому +2

      @@OWK000 yea stitching is probably best. But the fabric glue was fast and worked really well. I had a lot of rotted seems. Best of all I didn't have to remove any canvas. I also bought some cheap clear shower curtain. Cut to fit a few windows glued at the top below the zippers and installed between the screen and inside covers. On rainy and cold days, I would have good natural light, but
      Could keep the camper warm and dry.

    I bought a 1973 Dodge 360 "Fireball" and lived f.t. in it while working on it in the Central-Oregon Wilderness for two years. It was rough, but I learned a lot. One of the greatest things you could do is to find (get crafty on) sturdy aluminum and plastic versions of the fixtures in there currently. The less weight, the smaller the vehicle that can pull it, and the less gas-mileage the added weight adds to your haul.
    Not to mention it'll look better, and you can take things that WERE large and clunky and replace them with more modern and compact versions that likely take up less resources (fuel, power, battery, water, etc...).
    CUT WEIGHT wherever possible.
    Personally, at 6' 3", I'd scrap all the canvas and "popup" concept of the whole thing, and just frame in and build walls, with platforms that mount just like the undersides of the pop-out.
    You could make a VERY simple modification and wall-mount a small diesel heater and remove that massive p.o.s. one in there. Resell the old one, there's a huge market for old RV parts, especially heaters/ranges/ovens/microwaves/windows/etc...
    You'll likely make back, or close to, what you spent on a new one...
    I'm actually looking to start doing one myself soon. I have a buttload of lumber and materials.

Check there are no molds in the any of the wood and cushions. 2. Get new tires and repack the bearings . 3. Check underneath the camper for any rust and Frame damage. Enjoy !!!

    GREAT FIND! My 22 ft 78 Nomad was only $300. However, once I'd gotten in to it, all I got for that $300 was the tin and trailer. Floors, frame and furniture were all borked. I removed most of the frame and half the floor with a broom. I was prepared to build the whole thing from scratch and just wrap it with the original tin any way. Still... well worth it for the money IMHO!

    Nice find. Swap out that power cord plug for one with a ground, I see the ground prong is broken off. That is your biggest concern. Also it is an "inverter," not a converter. Common mix up of words. It allows you to charge the 12v battery while plugged in. The wood damage up top is a little easier said than done to properly repair, but doable.

I also did this for some of the rooms in my house. I don't want to depend just on electric. I put 3 in the camper one on each end and then one in the center. Also I have some on the outside of the camper. They come in handy if you get to a place a night and need lights to set up camper. 👍🙂

    I had bought my dad a 1967 Bethany pop up camper for about the same price 20 yrs ago... surprisingly the basics of everything you have here they had in the 60s already just a little more rustic (no sink, stove and the table wasn't a 3rd bed if im not mistaken it just had the ability to flip up against the side to give more middle room) ... great deal....id like to find one cheap... preferably with AC being based in FL lol.

    Great! ! Now I've got that music in my ear for next 18 days!! Good luck with the camper, not in terrible shape at all for the price, get someone to help repack or if needed replace the wheel bearings before any long road trips, if those go while on the road, MAJOR BUMMER.

    My dad had one of these, remember that it had these kind of.. rooms where the tent fell under the beds and me and my sisters used to play with our barbies down there, even think one of us slept down there once lol.

    I have you beat! I bought one off of KSL (Utah Classifieds). First look it was $1000. 3 days later…$600….went camping in our tent for the weekend without internet….Monday afternoon it was $100!! It was in great shape.

    Nice little camper that is! It reminds me of my childhood here in the UK when my family and I would go off on holiday in our "trailer tent" as they are known here; basically they fold up into a tent but you get a solid bed to sleep on and they fold up in minutes. Very similar to this.

    I think you got a good deal, that looks like it was taken care of pretty well. That portable toilet is probably clean and in good shape I would just give it a good cleaning to be sure. If that has a water tank be sure to clean it good.

    The power converter takes 110 volts and changes it to 12 volts DC for running lights and charging the battery. What you think you have there would actually be called a power inverter which takes 12 volts and changes it to 110 volts. The outlets won't work off of the 12 volt battery with the power converter that you have. When you plug into shore power which is the cord you plugged in at your house that's just being directly routed to the outlets inside the camper. The converter doesn't really have anything to do with that. It does go into the converter but only to go through the circuit breaker in there

    Yo the audio isn’t that bad. If I didn’t read the people complaining about it, I wouldn’t have even noticed it. Why? Because it’s not that loud to begin with lol. Nice find!
