- Wow! Thank you all for the love on my last video! In this episode we are fixing up the main problems on my 1994 Jayco Eagle Series Pop-Up Camper. This took 3 days, a lot of sweat and help from my good friend Gene! I hope you all enjoy and stay tuned for the first big camping trip and the renovated tour!

Morgan, when you get a chance you should paint a waterproofing sealer on the wood on the side panels on the roof and anywhere you replace the wood that is exposed to the elements, also you should clean the roof and give it a coat of white Flex seal around all the joints and the vent that has a tendance to leak even when you sealed it it saved my friend a lot of money
FLEX SEAL IS THE BEST WATERPROOF SEALER. Come in a tape /spray/ paint
Convenience suggestion: replace the standard outlet inside with a new one that has USB ports... you will not be disappointed.
We just finished a rehab on a 1994 Jayco 1207. We replaced all the side roof boards with new plywood. I have 7 videos on what we did if you want to see them. All done within the last 8 weeks. It was hard work but fun and rewarding with the final outcome.
The weird 'gross' stuff that was in the corner trim is called Butyl Tape and is used to water proofing. I highly recommend picking some up. It's pretty cheap and makes water proofing really easy. Find an RV parts store they will be able to help a lot too.

this was my family's first ever camper when I was tiny! SO many fond memories of this thing! use a ton of butyl tape to waterproof it and if you want to insulate, you can make panels from reflectix to put on the tent parts!
Cover your project with a good size tarp. It's worth the few extra dollars.
There is nothing more cozy than a pop up camper. I love them. I have a 2007 fleetwood williamsburg. Its a big one but its so cozy and so roomy. I perfer mine over my parent big RV.

Butyl Tape is best for trim that needs caulking behind it. Self leveling lap sealant is better on the roof as well. For next time. Fun to watch the project!

I noticed a hole in the black plastic strip that runs down the center of your roof. Under this strip you will find screws that go all the way through your roof metal. The hole is going to allow water into those screws which will allow water in. I'd caulk the hole shut. Or better yet replace the plastic strip. You can find new stripping at any RV parts store. Also there are holes through the sheet metal behind all your "cute" lights for the wires to pass through. I'd caulk around all outside lights. They are famous for letting water in. I should mention I have owned 4 travel trailers and 2 RVs and have experienced all these problems. Keep up the good work! Also, your pits are disgusting.

If you want the top to look extra, clean the top with the stuff you clean your Loo with, not an assehole this works so give a thorough going over. Look luck from this 67yr old lady who loooooved camping ⛺️
Back in the mid 80's I did the same thing with an old Jayco as well. We didn't have much $$$ having had 3 young ones (2 at the same time). Bought it from an older couple that literally had it in a barn. It wasn't quite as rough, but needed a lot. Didn't pay too much but it was a project. Wife redid all the interior cushions and curtains. I did all the mechanics. New tires, brakes, battery, lights and a lot more. Patched up the holes in the tent fabric and made sure all the metal was weather tight. Replaced all the marker & tail lights. Nightmare of frustration getting them all to work correctly. Turned the refer into an ice box. Didn't trust the converter, and too expensive to replace. Served us well for several years. Sold it for what we had put into it (w/o labor ) and bought a better one. Still have fond memories.
You're doing a great job and especially learning how to do your own repairs. Remember that fixing this pop up to your expectations that no matter what? You will always have a roof over your head! And if you invest in off grid solar power and wind turbines that you will appreciate off grid independence. Great job young lady!
Cheap idea for the side bed tarpaulin is to run two sided self adhesive Velcro in the corners and along the rails so the bed sides do not leak inside and the sides remain tight so water drips down off of windows, etc. tuck under matresses when setting up Waterproofing helps and there are really cheap spray ons. Take a picture of the tail light for new one and note they are cheaper usually at local hardware or check RV dealer. Some junk yards have these dirt cheap such as Pick and Pull vehicle salvage or on Marketplace. Making one is simple too use some cheap clear epoxy and tint orange before setting in template made from other tail light lense. Looks like you had loads of Fun fixing your camper and the black epoxy is perfect match and done well. Nice Vlog thanks for sharing!
We've had pop-up campers and I would also recommend water seal on all of the canvas and screen...it will help keep the water running off and not sticking into the canvas...We've done this everytime with ours and it really helps...

I have the same camper I put jack stands on the front corners it really makes it sturdy while camping and I also carry a level to make sure it's even
I know this is from about a year ago, but a tip for the next time you have to do caulking and are using your finger, get your finger super wet, the caulk won't stick to it. A little spit will do in a pinch if you ain't got a glass of water handy to dip your finger in. Learned that about 15 years ago when I was doing metal building construction.
🌺 Did you seal the wood first? Thompson water seal is pretty good.
The black seal caulking surprised me.
It does look good.
It won't stain, so that's a huge plus.

Get you some of the white roof seal you roll on trailer houses and roll the roof the top of your camper. Will seal it and make it look better. ❤️👍

I recommend a wire brush and black spraypaint on the trailer tongue and rear bumper. Careful about overspray. It will help prevent rust and make it look better still! Great job!

I would roll the roof with that silver roof coating you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. It will also make it cooler in the summer.
Recently rebuilt a 2000 Viking popup, redone the whole roof inside and out! One hint of advice on a popup....Seal every nook, crack, cranny and seam you can find inside and outside with an industrial heavy duty 100% silicone sealant! Especially the roof seams! Replace your old skylight with a new one even if the old one still looks ok! Trust me! You'll be better off in the longrun!

U can buy white rubber coating that u can put on ur roof it will seal it up.
When I did mine I took out all the old wood and then I fiberglass it

I think you made a great job. It is hard, cause the experience is coming by doing the job. Don‘t doing everything right in the first place is part of it. Don’t forget it, when the hard parts are upcoming: You are amazing 🤩. For sealing with silicone or chalk: use masking tape or painters tape to cover the lines you will draw. It‘s a little time consuming at first, but you could get straighter lines, more regularly and the clean up is easier. As mentioned in an other comment: you can use your fingers to seal it or put it more in. Some use dish soap or dishsoap/water mix, but there are different options out there ( I seald my counters with it). For my bathtub, I covered problems with the deep holes around and first used a lot of silicone. Then I figured out something wich is called joint filling profile PE, joint sealing line,…etc. it is like a round filling cord, squishy sponge coming in different parameters. Some are halfround under sinks, etc. Maybe this will help you a little bit 😃
Perfect advice. I was yelling at her to use some painters tape but she just ignored me. 😃 But, you know what? For $350, everything she did was absolutely awesome.

I hope when you were glueing in the wood that you used vulkem sealant. it doesnt require the area to be sealed to be basically scoured clean first and it bonds to virtually any surface. you can also use liquid nails adhesive as once its bonded you pretty much cannot get it apart.

Have you heard of flex seal? It's basically liquid rubber. They have spray and the kind of liquid that you can spread like paint. Also you should paint it. 😊😊

I think the one thing I would replace is that buzzing converter. You don't need anything super powerful and can find a decent converter/charger on the internet for less then $50. Add a cheap 12 volt battery and you'll have all the power you need. Great find and great job fixing that old camper up!
I think the inverter is buzzing because it's trying to charge a battery that she doesn't have yet. As for a cheap battery? You get what you pay for. Campers need deep cycle marine batteries.
@@brianpulstsr8680 That model converter is just a converter. It cannot be used to charge a battery. I don't think she wants to put a ton of money into a $350 camper. Especially since it will probably only get used for some occasional camping. That's why I said a cheap battery, not what kind of battery.

Nice job. In the future, use a caulk product called Proflex RV sealant. It is the proper long term sealant for a camper versus the caulking from the hardware store.

Great job! Love pop ups! Question? Why did you not remove the bed pads before the work? Would have saved a ton of cleaning on them to just remove them.

Hi Morgan, years ago I bought a 74 Coleman pop up and had a fiberglas top with a crack across the top. I bought several Fiberglas repair kits and fixed the crack with the fabric and liquid. One side of the steps cable was broken but a drill and pop rivets fixed that problem. Just a little tip about putting the braces under the beds. When you go under to do it just lift the bed up, ever so lightly, and the braces will go right in. The canvas was not in good shape but I used it for a couple of years then found a place in Birmingham, Alabama that replaced the entire canvass for $700.00. It was perfect. I installed a small air conditioner in the wall under one of the beds over the tongue of the front. I didn’t use the water system that had the holding tank because the previous owner put real antifreeze in it so I took the holding tank out and put a unit of plastic shelves in its place. I could still use the water from the spigot at the State Park campgrounds. Other than those few things it was perfect. I used it for many years and then it was stolen. When I got it back, it had been used to cook drugs in so I stripped it and gave it away because the thieves tried cranking the top without releasing all the latches and broke a cable and those are hard to repair but with it being a hazardous atmosphere inside at that point I would not use it and the person I gave it to knew it’s history so he never used it to camp in. Mine was bigger than the one you have but very similar inside. My sink and stove was on the other end from where yours is though. You are doing a great job and I will keep watching your Reno. It is already a little cutie and at that price you did so good. Much love from Alabama!!!!

Just found your channel, I love when there are real videos showing how to do things and even attempting to fix something that others would just walk past and say no way not touching this. me and my husband are starting to look for a older pop up we can fix up to take camping with our son. I think you found a nice camper at a damn good price. I can't wait to see the full tour and to see any improvements you make. suggestion for you if you haven't already thought of it, get the reflective sheets to put all in the slide out windows, it will cut down on how hot it gets in the pop up, I know several people who have done that and it is a huge help, I believe they even sell bigger ones that go outside on top of the canvas to really help reflect the summer heat from beating down on it.

When working with caulk keep alcohol and wipes on hand.
Use your finger wipe your finger clean. Repeat.
It's how I installed granite for years using silicone.

Great job so far. We had a old pop up in the past. The canvas on our pop up had some tiny little pin holes. We did the patch kit on it. Then I cleaned the canvas really good. After that I bought some good water repellent for canvas/campers! I sprayed it really good. After that, the canvas never leaked again. We sold it a couple years later. Good luck with yours!

I would spray water repellent on all the canvas and pick up a roll of good duct tape. If you don't have a sewing awl I would pick up one with heavy duty thread . The camper is a good size and the loose water hose goes in a water container . Fantastic job so far . There are companies that make replacement tent for campers . Nice fine on the camper .
My wife started questioning what I was watching after hearing black caulk and white caulk so many times.
