Super, super nice work. I wouldn’t have thought that filon could be reused and look decent, but you guys made it work and saved the customer $.
We try to salvage the siding because a new piece would stick out like a sore thumb and wherever the customer goes with this coach everyone will be asking ... What happened?? That gets to be annoying. Also is keeps red flags down if folks decide to sell the coach.
Thanks for watching.
@RVROOFINSTALL you sound like Hank Hill when you laugh especially at 5:24
@JeffinTD if thr Filon isn't wrinkled or creased real badly, it can be reused. Takes time to clean it up. Trying to remove some of the Luan iff the back is a rest of skill to not rip the Filon. Thanks for watching
Your use of the word " slobber " makes these videos awesome.
Don’t have a rv anymore but still can’t stop watching
I don't own one either... Lol .. hmmmmm????

After watching your videos glad I sold my rv years ago
Thank you guys. Great video. Lots of useful info.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great ideas. Never thought to replace the wood with aluminum but it makes sense. It's lighter and won't rot. Also, good reminder to keep up in the protein.
Another Awesome job guys!!
I just bought a 1986 class c motorhome. Three quarters of my walls look like that. Started as a remodel developed into complete rebuild.
Well now you got one finished you can enjoy... Glass half full! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for all great info, I'm new to Rv's, I bought a wolf pup 15 v nose 2 weeks ago 2019 new but i have noticed some seam caulking has separated I'm taking it for warranty work. again thanks for
these videos.
Good luck with the warranty....in your owners manual it will stipulate YOU need to slather more caulk on the vents, , skylight ladder etc. More on, more on more on....lol. welcome the the RV world. I don't own one!
Thanks for watching.
Absolutely not built to last it is ridiculous and will always leak somewhere constant maintenance press board gets any water it has to be replaced all in all I’ve experienced that everything from the drawers to the floor just disintegrate. Very unhappy with the costly repair work and unprofessional workmanship
Fern Dog, do your own caulking/sealing. I recommend OSI quad max. If you want water clean up, go with DAP Dynaflex. For roofing, nothing beats Eternabond with Premium Pro sealant on tbe edges. Dealers or factories will just use the same garbage that failed already.
YES!!! We ,UA-camrs, do want to know what happens next!
What year is that Jayco? I went with stick and tin because at least it can’t delaminate, lol. They all rave about Azdel like it can’t do, what this one is doing. I’m glad I followed my gut.
@jerrytalley802 I don't know the year. I'd have to surf through work orders to find out. The issue with aluminum siding is making sure it's sealed well, especially vertically in the corners. We use big stretch by sashco. Don't us silicone on anything.
Thanks for watching.
I like the way you work, excellent work, they look the way they come from the factory... where's your location at?
What does a job like this cost?
My '12 Chaparral has the exact same issue
Did you get your fixed. My 14 chaparral has it now.
Very cool and informative vid, and another reason I will not be buying any RV with cheap wood walls. Azdel doesn't delaminate.
Don't be deceived..I have not seen a coach with Azdel on the side. Only the back and do front. Don't ever believe a salesperson. There are a couple of Hideouts on the channel with Azdel walls. Watch them..
Awesome rebuild! What do you use in replace of Dicor. Inquiring minds want to know 😊
Any commercial membrane lap sealant would work better than Dicor. EPDM membranes...rubber...use lap sealants. You can buy them at any commercial roofing supply house. You should be able to go over the Dicor with it, but do one and see to make sure.

Mine was $4000..
I’m curious to know what the cost was for this repair? Thanks

Is the 3m90 spray adhesive by 3m? Doing delamination repair on our toyhauler and have the fiberglass pulled away to replace the wood and want to make sure the adhesive doesn't eat away the styrofoam.
Yes.
@RV ROOF INSTALL how well does the adhesive hold up?
It will eat it up. It's a solvent propelled product that will degregate the polystyrene foam. Need to find something compatible that will hold up.
i need the exact same job done to my 5th wheel what would the rough cost of that job be high and low prices
Please send us an email. Contactus@rvroofinstall.com. Understand we don't quote on social media.
Thank you for your interest. We'll be looking for your enail.
That has to be one expensive repair? How is the interior not damaged as well? Thanks
@jerrytalley802 we made sure the foam was dried out thoroughly. Watrr finds it own way. Some are rotted crazy bad, some we can salvage. A lot of time, we skin the interior, which was tonthe paper and glues that dame paper back to the new one with a clothes iron and adhesive so it looks original. Sometimes, we can't. Thanks for watching.

Scroll down and read the comments of those videos, and people are raving with compliments. Our channel on is geared to educating viewrs and so the customer can see all the work that went into their rebuild.

Hello and great info. I get the regular type construction materials and adhesives but can you comment on the glues that you use to laminate that final finished surface layer onto the back of this one? Is it some sort of contact cement or epoxy with a setup time i need to be aware of? I see you rolling it for contact and I'm guessing it would have to be awfully sticky. The back of that looked real good in the video when you rolled it out of the shop.
You can use 3m90. I will be ready to adhere in a few minutes. If you touch it and it's a tad tacky....you're ready to go.
3m 90 the spray can stuff? You would need like 50 cans to do a back panels.

How much is a repair like this
I have the same issue at the rear of my motorhome. Was this a one-day effort?

I don't own one but I'm pondering......
@@cynthiapanter6808 if I were to buy one I would opt for an older one ... 2006 or older with Filon siding not aluminum. They were built better before the recession. Once they learned how much they could save on cutting corners they stayed the course and got worse. Just watched a video on how keystone is making travel trailers lighter by using a thinner frame... the frame will buckle and fail at the hitch.
The only camper I have not worked on is an airstream.
If you buy a motor home you will need to tow a car because when you hook up and decide you need to go somewhere you will need to break down your electric and sewer to travel to come back and hook up again. Class Cs are known for bunk leaks . Class A are very big and gas hogs.
I would like to have a basic camper bumper pull with no frills or unnecessary electronics. Eventually I will build one.
@@RVROOFINSTALL When you do, we would all love to see it come together. I will start looking. Oak Ridge is close enough you can fix it if it needs repair! Thanks!

What’s the alternative?
What do you suggest rather than dicor?
Dicor roofing is manufactured by Carlisle Syntec, very large company. Carlisle manufactures commercial grade roofing membrane and they so have there own kap sealant. Any commercial grade lap sealant will work better than Dicor. Your local commercial roofing supply house should have it
Thanks for watching.
I woulda put some neutral wallpaper on the back before putting it in place. Maybe some interior roof push would work too.great job though
Depending on the job we will let the customer handle what they can to save them some money. Thanks for watching!
So, what do you use instead of dicor?
Commercial roofing manufacturers use a lap sealant for EPDM rubber. You can get that at any commercial roof supply store.

I got a 06 StarCraft Antigua 30ft I just got. Found out after I got it home needs roof and floor and back wall can you please help on how to fix it
Where did you buy the 06 StarCraft? Individual or a dealer?
My 2018 Jayco Eagle ( Not the Eagle Lite) is already delaminating in the rear panel as well. Inspecting the rear showed that the roof was terribly caulked. And Jayco won't repair it. As I've been telling everyone when they ask how I like the RV, I tell them that the "J" in Jayco is for JUNK!!!!!!!!
We got a new 2019 Jayco needing a roof and Jayco will barely pay half the cost. They are trying to force her to go to a dealer. I'll be doing a great review on that for sure.

Is there a place that you buy your supplies from online?
We trade with a local distributor here in Chattanooga. Most of the products can be purchased at your local commercial roofing supply.

Nice job guys thanks
I would like to see you by the end of the year for my camper. I have some leaks that I need to address in the meantime. I hear you talk bad about the Butyl, what do you recommend for caulking around fixtures and vents? Would you use exterior silicone?
Off the shelf silicone won't work well. I would suggest using OSI quad you can find that at Home Depot, Lowe's.
Use a scrub brush to ensure all the filth is removed then apply. A mild cleaner should get it clean enough...soapy water will work too. Make sure it is dry before applying.
We appreciate you anticipating coming in for us to do the roof work. We book out fast. We are tentatively booking for late Aug, Sept. Just keep that in mind.

How’d you get the old luan off the filon?
Sand it, scrape it. It will be time consuming.
Thanks for watching.
If it is going to rain then out the luan side down on your lawn so the water will help release it. Less scraping. Be careful not to bite too much because you risk splitting into the Filon. Just take a little nibbles. Option B....buy a new piece, but you would have to re-decal. Unless you opt to not decal.

Man y’all do some good. How do you handle a side wall that is like that? I imagine you can’t take the whole side off a 5th wheel.
Depending on how bad it is delamed you could take out windows, doors lights to get behind it and epoxy it back. Sometimes you have to cut the siding, make repairs and re-adhere the siding which will require some sort of bodywork or creative thinking to conceal the cut. The very first step is knowing where the leak source is and have that corrected as you go about the repair. No sense fixing the damage if the leak source will ruin it again.

Any product that requires to be reapplied as Dicor does, every 3 to 4 months can't be very good quality , can it? I don't know the actual chemical compounds in Dicor, but it seems to be a butyl acrylic blend. When the acrylic fractures and cracks it leaves a path for the sun's UV Ray's to break down the butyl.
@@RVROOFINSTALL What product do you suggest?

@@dreday1332 Dicor is a buytl latex /acrylic mix from what I can see. I don't have the chemical compounds but that's what it appears to be. Anyway the product has no UV resistance for long term that's why it fails in 3 months or so. It's their cash cow...getting folks to spend $12 a tube needing about 5 tubes per nor more.
