- This short film is dedicated to the memory of a man found dead in his home in March 2012 in Wexford town in the southeast corner of Ireland.
Alan Moore, originally from Salford in Manchester, lived in what is known as 'the smallest house in Wexford' on a busy street in the centre of the town. It was the incongruous little Christmas tree still lighting in the middle of March that led to a passer-by alerting the gardaí. But surely other people in the area must have seen those lights on night after night. He had not been seen in public for up to two months.
Alan described himself as a 'free spirit' and was said to have been 'a very nice man'. He is said to have loved living in the area and enjoyed the view across the road to the Franciscan Friary. He would sometimes be seen standing in his doorway smoking a cigarette. He did not mix much or invite conversation. He wouldn't usually answer the door to people. People respected that and left him in peace out of a wish not to intrude. In retrospect it was this neighborly tolerance of his ways that resulted in the tragedy of his death going undiscovered.
Let us hope that this poignant story serves as a reminder to us all that we should keep in regular contact with our elderly neighbours and those living alone and alert the authorities when something seems not right.

Alan was my younger brother, who chose to distance himself from his family, for no other reason than that,s the way he wanted it, he was a very talented man,musician/ singer/songwriter, grammer school educated and won a place at Stirling University.Members of his family continually endeavoured to trace him to no avail, now we have found him we will lay him to rest with dignity, for all the old times Alan good or bad, R.I.P
I used to go to school with Alan, in Franworth, Bolton. We both attended the Grammar school. Alan was the first person I ever hiked across England with. We hiked from our homes in Little Hulton, Manchester to Newquay in Cornwall. After 2 days we went out own ways. I never saw him again. This is a tragedy and it hurts his family who I still see. I do feel that he was happy in the small little house and he injoyed a very simple way to live. He seems a very interesting man. I hope he's happy where ever he is now 🌻
Thanks for this, he was my uncle. Its a sad way to find out but I feel its a sign as we would of never found him if it had not hit the news. Now we know and have a feel of his life and what he was doing. R.I.P Uncle I missed you ( you daft sod :)

That's very sad. The discovery of your brother's body made news for just one day in March. I just felt moved to somehow perpetuate Alan's memory.
That happened to my father when he found his brother dead at his own home the day after he died suddenly, he was completely shocked by what he had founded in his old childhood home
though at first he thought Joe was messing before quickly realising that he was dead
