- Three Boys say the Blessed Virgin appeared to them at a cemetery in the village of Taghmon, County Wexford.
The three boys Eric Fenlon, Gerald O’Sullivan and Con Quigley reported seeing an apparition of the Virgin Mary at the village of Taghmon in County Wexford.
The apparition, a woman in blue, appeared while they were playing at the cattle mart bordering a disused cemetery on the outskirts of the village. Two other children playing with them at the same spot saw nothing.
Local reaction to the alleged apparition is non-committal. Most people agree that the children saw something and they do not believe the boys are playing a prank.
Few will risk saying it wasn’t an apparition, or wasn’t the Blessed Virgin just in case it happens again. It’s one thing to argue with three local families, it’s quite another to lose favour with the Lord.
The clergy of the area have not given any comment on the matter and because of this silence, the story of the apparition has gained credence locally.
The boys revisit the graveyard and recount seeing bright rays of light and a six foot woman wearing a long blue dress with a white shawl. They are convinced what they saw was real and not somebody playing a trick on them.
Gerald O’Sullivan was somewhat fearful to tell his mother what he saw and he was also afraid,

Head of the Department of Psychology at University College Dublin, Reverend Professor Feichin O’Doherty wishes the church officials in the Diocese of Ferns had given a statement about the alleged apparition in Taghmon from the outset,
Wherever action has been taken quickly enough or finally enough, there has been no further problem.
Feichin O’Doherty states no importance should be given to any apparitions, the sighting at Lourdes being the exception. While apparitions have been fairly common within his lifetime, none have been authenticated.
He is quite sure those people claiming to have seen apparitions are not lying, but what they claim to have seen can be explained. In older age groups it is possibly a manifestation of an emotional disturbance. In younger ages groups, it is simply a case of their inability to distinguish between reality and imagery.

I visit Clare on many occasions. I’m from Wexford. I’m also a born again believer and I’m now a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ and making other disciples on my journey with the Jesus Christ ❤

It's a shame the local priest didn't see it as an opportunity to encourage the people to pray for the forgotten souls in purgatory. It was significant that they saw her in a neglected graveyard.
I looked up the priest in this video and one article said he was a Jesuit and an “experimental psychologist”. He seemed to be more interested in psychoanalyzing people who had apparitions of Mary instead of telling people about Her. It would have been nice if the priest told people to pray the rosary and pray for the poor souls in purgatory.
I wonder where those lads are today. They would be younger than me now. It would be nice to see them interviewed again. I visited Our Lady Island in Wexford and I must say I felt great peace.
A few months later, they formed a death metal band called Satan's Bride.
I think they were big in Scandinavia for a few years and competed in the 1974 Song for Ireland where they came second with a catchy little ditty called "Impale me on your Crucifix"

Ok this priest ( God rest him ) is more of psychologist than a true son of Mary . He is correct in saying that public revelations ceased until Jesus comes back , however private ones have happened throughout the history of the church . Also , St Padre Pio although he was of the 19th century definitely bore the stigmata . Also he correctly stated that we are not required to believe in any apparitions according to the deposit of faith . I’m going to pray for this priest and for all of Ireland ( as I have been doing for years ) I’ve been many times as it is where I received the faith from my grandparents. they all still live here in taghmon, know them all well, they never talk about it, i remember the fuss over them in the national school the day after, the parish priest had us all saying the rosary

They sound like a genuine ufo sighting. The strange light and six foot tall female being. There are reports of very tall humanoid aliens with long white hair. Coast to Coast has an interview with an American military man who saw them. I would not be surprised if the lads grew up to be quite environmentally focused, sensitive to climate change issues, that sort of global thing.

How do you know it was the Mother of God? It could have been another female Saint, it could of been just made up by the boys or it could have been a ghost.

Agree with you. My son as a child kept telling me “I see the blue lady”-he was less than 5 years old. My son’s description is very similar. She never spoke. Just was dressed in blue and hands folded in prayer and disappeared out the window. He said she “flew out the window” at the time.

I read a comment that said this priest is closed minded, and I totally agree. He not only rejects Fatima (and probably LaSallette) but he rejects stigmata, so there goes dear Padre Pio.
So the priest preaches about the supernatural but doesn’t believe in the supernatural, can anyone explain that? It happened in knock and they put up a shrine there but they ignore this, complete hypocrisy, the interviewer should have questioned the bishop on that.
Unfortunately in Ireland many (not all) of those in positions of clergy have left more to be desired. Many use their elevated position for themselves rather than the Lord. The spiritless shepherding the spirited.
Many condemnations and denouncements from many Priests for Republicans during this period but not a word for the foreign occupation. Some decent priests but many hypocrites and those not fit for duty.
The Bishop had the authority to investigate such occurrences if he decides it has merit.

I'm in agreement. The priest is right to be skeptical and sometimes it's better to hush or play down alleged apparitions in order to prevent a craze.
But in this case, the testimonies seem genuine.
The boys are Scared of God's divine power, not someone trying to detract from The Power of the Holy Spirit.

The interviewer spoke of "Bernadette of Fatima", but there was no Bernadette at Fatima. He is thinking of Bernadette of Lourdes and mixing up Lourdes apparitions with Fatima apparitions.
The none believers always mock and snigger and say nasty words. If those boys say they saw the blessed Vergin they did, it douses not matter if others do not believe them. Those really nice kind and gentle boys were blessed to have witnessed this great happening. God bless them all

How sad that the priest being questioned didn't have enough faith to even entertain the possibility of children with a "simple" faith, in his words, could have experienced a genuine apparition. Our lady would certainly have not chosen to appear to someone with so much arrogance and superiority. But that's a priest for you, teaching his flock what he himself is too intelligent to swallow. 🙄

Seem pretty genuine kids to me. Definitely if they were lying at least one would be sniggering. They looked in the reporters eye and told him what they saw. It's hard for a kid to lie like that and keep a straight face. Would love to speak to them now in middle age.
Their stories also matched in spite of the interviewer trying his best to catch them out.

The priest didn’t seem to have a lot faith when it comes to the Catholic religion. I wonder if they interviewed a Protestant minister by mistake. 😂 In all seriousness I was surprised how the priest rejected all apparitions accept Lourdes, and even then I think he was a tad hesitant at that.

Ok , I’m at 11:00 mins and the reporter incorrectly says the children had seen a film about Bernadette in Fatima 🙄. I’m not surprised she came during this time . Post Vatican 2 , Mary gradually being taken out of their lessons . Our Lady of Knock appeared in 1879 . We must pray for the holy souls in purgatory. At the same time. I work with a guy who will feign celibacy, and project collective lechery when confronted with this truth of watching the societal wheels turn over time. @ Some 10:45 seconds into the presentation, the commentator says one of the boys had seen a film about, "Bernadette of Fatima" there is no "Bernadette of Fatima", that casually tossed error possibly emerges from a need or desire to debunk matters (he provides no proof of what he claims), he really should have done his research better.
@ Some 11 minutes into the presentation, the commentator states the Church is remaining silent on the apparitions, "just in case another apparition occurs" that is gross error. The Church remains silent on ALL claims of apparitions until the weight of Evidence may cause the silence to be set aside for the Church to make a pronouncement as to it (their) validity.
@Some 11:53 seconds in, Father E. F. O'Doherty is in "error", Fatima was genuine and is now accepted by the Church as such. Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia the three seers now Beatified. AVE MARIA!

I believe them boys because a similar experience happened to myself when I was a wee boy but ‘twas not the Holy Mother I witnessed, (Truth be told, I wasn’t always a good boy)…’twas the fairies, so help me God. I was out hunting rabbits with my hound, Cucullan ( I always used to call him Cucu, he didn’t seem to mind) when I surprised them as they were busy garhering mushrooms. There were six of them no less. Their leader was a big fella, he may have been a leprechaun as they were known to be in cahoots together against us humans. Anyway, the big fella carried a big shillelagh and so he shook that stick at me with great anger and resentment before they all scattered to disappear into tall grass like a fart in the wind, and they were gone. I believe Mary appears to children beause they have open minds and hearts unlike the majority of adults who have been tarnished by the 3d world and are skeptical to other dimensions. When the war broke in the Ukraine I received a powerful download to ask Mary to guard the children there.

That happened in 1971. Look at all that has happened to our world since. I say God bless those boys. Maybe we should think more about our dead loved ones. How many of us pray for their sweet souls we love so much. Now, when they die, we all hear. Oh, they're out of all their pain now. No mention of Purgatory. Surely they went straight to Heaven, and we didn't give it another thought. Well, I know someone who was at a cemetery and had a laugh that someone put an open beer on a grave. A voice said they were in Purgatory, and they never heard a single prayer for their soul. Not a single Hail Mary for me. Only a beer. And you laugh. Some spend hundreds of years there. At Fatima, the children were told that a girl from their town would be there until the end of the world. Just a bit of food for thought.
