    Folks wowwweee wow wow my mind is blown! I don’t know why I didn’t think about minty coffee or coffee breath. These are things that apparently do not bother me / I don’t notice lol but morning breath on the other hand terrifies me clearly lol 😂 I just cannot start the day/talk to people/ see people that way. Haha. Like I’m thinking about it right now and again cringing in discomfort haha so funny.

    Registered Dental hygienist here! I’m glad shes brushing afterwards. Coffee stain is such a pain to get rid of. Wait 20ish mins post coffee because acid from the coffee needs to dilute a bit before you brush. Same rule of thumb applies to women with morning sickness, don’t brush right away! Your scrubbing the acid around! I recommend a pH neutralizing mouth rinse as well! The acid from the coffee can also be neutralized with a fatty creamer!

Advise form a dentist here 🙋🏻‍♀️The most important part of brushing your teeth is the brushing itself, what breaks the plaque is the mechanical act of the toothbrush against your teeth, so if you’re going out for breakfast you can brush with only water and no toothpaste paste and then brush with toothpaste after breakfast.

    TW: Disordered eating.
    I used to think that maybe some of these weird celebrity/youtuber diets were strange and bad, but not *really*harming anyone. But the other day my cowoker came in and was super distraught bc his daughter recently became obsessed with Chloe Ting. He noticed that she drastically started cutting her food and was getting anxious about having a single donut on Sunday mornings after church. He and his wife are going to have her work with a sports dietician so she can learn (from someone who's not her parents because what teen wants to listen to her parents) about healthy balanced eating. I sent him some of your videos so he can leave them on the ipad for her. Thanks for what you do! It matters!

    No, you brush your teeth after breakfast, another wise the teethrbushing is useless 😂

    • @soilgrasswaterair
      @soilgrasswaterair 3 роки тому +51

      No!
      Why do people insist that they know better than dentists how to care for their teeth?! You brush the teeth to remove bacteria. Eating and then just use nothing or mouthwash do not remove the food particals. You use mouthwash and floss after brushing the teeth to remove the things inbetween the teeth and rinse that out + to leave a protection for the following hours. Which is also why dentist gum after lunch is a good habit (since brushing the teeth 3 times or more a day will take a toll on their enamel which protect the teeth from cavities).
      You brush your teeth and go to bed. Then in the morning you can pop in a dentist gum or rinse with mouthwash if it bothers you with the morning breath. Then you eat and THEN you brush your teeth. You get on with your day with a clean mouth and fresh breath. Then lunch after a few hours, and after dentists suggests that you floss and have a dentist gum. And in between meals no snacking because everything we eat that is not a teeth product will create bacteria and off ph in the mouth which will lead to bigger chance to get cavities.
      After breakfast and lunch you will have dinner and that is it. Brush your teeth after dinner at bedtime and repeat the following day and so on.
      Obviously we are human and will have a few snacks in between like a fruit or whatever people like and some snack after dinner. But these are the dentist guidlines I typed down.
      We brush the teeth to keep a good mouth hygiene. If we brush and THEN eat, we do not keep up a good mouth hygiene. The last thing you do before bed is brushing your teeth so no need for the first thing you do is brushing your teeth and then have breakfast. Only thing that happens then is you head out for the day with food in your teeth that will not be removed by rinsing with only mouthwash.
      It’s better to listen to the dentists and follow their guidelines and keep those expensive dentist bills down. It is literally twice a day teeth brushing and some gum and mouthwash and floss. 🙂💕
      Don’t get me started on all those who said they didn’t need toothpaste with flourine and those parents are back on that and saying stuff like ”ohh how were we suppose to know that the dentists actually spoke the truth about the need of flourine in toothpaste”, after their kids under 5 developed cavities from lack of flourine and juice instead of water for their stroller bottle drink. Jeez!

    • @soilgrasswaterair
      @soilgrasswaterair 3 роки тому +4

      Yeah, some think they brush only to remove smelly breath but haven’t made the connection of the importance of removing food from their teeth! Unless people are sleep eaters don’t brush the teeth after just literally going from brushing teeth at bedtime and waking up! Brush bedtime, wake up rinse mouth, have breakfast and then brush!🙂

    The process you talked about at 11:00,on how to help picky eaters expand their diet, is actually how I trained myself to like carrots. I hated carrots as a kid. When my wisdom teeth came in, at 10, they hurt so bad all I wanted was to chew on anything that would fit in the back of my mouth, gum was not an option. The pediatric dentist said my jaw was big enough for them to grow in but I would be uncomfortable till they did. I quickly realized frozen/really cold baby carrots fit perfectly in the back of my mouth, and the constant chewing felt amazing. I would chew on one carrot till it widdled away. Then grab another till I felt better. They quickly became a comfort food because I associated them with pain relief. It grossed my Granny and aunt out to see me chewing on a spitty carrot for hours, but my mother was thrilled to see me eat carrots and said "Hey, if it gets a new veg in her I don't care how long she chews on that carrot or how gross it gets. It's going down that's all I care." . She made sure I had baby carrots at an arms reach all the time, and told me to ignore their comments.

I personally have no issues brushing my teeth, waiting 15-30 minutes, drinking water, eating breakfast/drinking coffee, drinking water again. Hard to say. I wouldn’t really say she has a relaxed attitude because it is so down to the calorie what she eats. She mentioned she wouldn’t order sweets because she didn’t like them, but then mentioned she would est them if someone else ordered it and eat off of their serving. That is something to think about, if it is so difficult to allow yourself dessert and you tell yourself you don’t like it but feel a need to eat it if it’s on someone else’s plate (that means restriction of some sort, to deny yourself something not healthy and try to convince yourself you don’t have it because you don’t like it), but to also give in). She works out a lot too, which is good for a body, but it is a lot and she is not an athlete. As the person above me mentioned, Emma has spoken about struggling with food and if she hasn’t gotten professional help for that for at least a year it is still an issue. Minding your diet in a very intense way is not a healthy way of living. It’s best to have balance to not be stuck in a mindset of good and bad, but to instead think fuel and energy. To struggle to order dessert st a restaurant sometimes in a year is not a sign of health. Anyway, I hope she is going to have a relaxed mindset and be ok 100%.

    Former barista here. The key to a foamy non-dairy milk for a latte is a proper steamer wand connected to an espresso machine. You can't really use those hand held frother things. Also you need to use a cold (i recommend putting it in the fridge) metal pitcher to put the milk in. Place the wand in the pitcher with the non-dairy milk make sure the wand is completely submerged and on an angle, turn on the steam full blast, slowly start to lift the wand out of the milk till you get to the surface and let it sit there until you get the foam you want. You can also feel the side of the metal pitcher to determine the temp of the milk (make sure to hold the pitcher by the handle though or you will burn your hand). I have never had a problem foaming non-dairy milk using this method.

      @@haz.fellie no, too much soy milk is not good for you due to the phytoestrogens in the soy bean. High doses can cause amenorrhea (no periods) and lead to fertility issues in females. However, most of the negative effects are diminished in fermented soy products such as soy sauce and tempeh.
      However, as it is used in the Western diet, commercial soy (oil, flour, milk, isolates, ect.) can be harmful because of its presence in so many foods.
      That is why is recommended that vegans/vegetarians/milk allergy/lactose intolerant people use a variety of options for protein/milks. And don't eat soy products in every meal.

    Abbey, thank you for these videos! I have been suffering from some kind of gastrointestinal issue for a few months now (suspected diverticulitis but I'm seeing the doctor soon) and so many foods have been upsetting my stomach that I just have lost interest in eating. Even when I know I'm hungry it just sounds unappealing because I've started associating eating with pain and discomfort. Watching your videos regularly has been inspiring me to listen to my body, and make the effort to find something nourishing to eat when I'm hungry. I've also been inspired keep a food + symptom diary so I can pay better attention to what foods I respond to well vs poorly. Also, meat seems to set off my stomach the worst, and I've always been a meat eater so I'm struggling with what to replace it with. Your frequent suggestions of nonmeat protein sources have been SO SO helpful. I appreciate you!!

    Man I genuinely want to enjoy Abby Sharps content. But it seems like for someone who advocates for intuitive eatings, she wants to make so many changes to people diets who are actually healthy that seem unnecessary. Is it just me? Even if someone has a perfectly fine diet like just leave it. She’s talking about the puréed cottage cheese and I’m like wtf, Emma just doesn’t like it.😂 Why does it matter? I also notice she seems harsh and judgmental. I am sure people with eating disorders will watch her content regardless so you’d think she’d be more gentle with her opinions. I don’t know just the way she says stuff rubs me wrong.
