    As a Gen X-er, I really enjoy having my musical horizons broadened by your show. I recommended the Periphery video to my adult son after watching this episode, and discovered that he loves them and has seen them live! He was, however, rather shocked that I'd heard of them and he proceeded to tell his friends "You'll never believe what band my mom recommended to me.." One of these days, and no one will be entirely sure when, Justin is going to start playing that "rides again" theme tune but it won't stop after the first line. It'll continue into a second line, then a third, then there'll be a chorus and another verse, perhaps a musical interlude and it'll continue until he finishes singing the song. And it'll be the best thing we've ever heard.

    Plz go back and spend time in Periphery IV. They have been great all along but really put it all together there. Deceptive time things within 4/4. Drummer Matt Halpern facilitates. You can't pull that shit off w/o a world class drummer. Spencer Sotelo melodic screamo higher than a lot of guys can sing at all, and breadth of style. Production is stellar. Guitar tones and riffs and solos fantastic. But the songwriting is deep. It's not just chops. Whole is more than the sum of the parts. I had IV on repeat for months and months. Just getting into V. My expectations are so high it will be awhile before I can hear it for what it is. This band is up there w anything in rock. Any genre. You should check out the band Wolves at the Gate. Their clean vocalist has an amazing, powerful voice, and their unclean vocalist is a BEAST. They're dynamic is really interesting. Try the song "Silent Anthem"

    Dude, Justin, I am not a a musician, and a I know a lot of musicians have perfect pitch, but My God, you can dissect harmonic pitches and tunings. That's next level. I've dealt with multitone signals for test purposes and when there are multi tones, it's very hard for the, normal, brain to dissect the tonal components. Very impressive!

    The harmonics in the beginning are played by fretting the first fret of the lowest string and then leaving the next string open, then using your pinky to hit harmonica on the fourth fret near the fret wire. They do a similar trick in their song “Blood Eagle”.

    • @frogginbullfish8777
      @frogginbullfish8777 Рік тому

      While you are correct, the harmonic they are playing is implying the chord that Justin played. They also use that exact chord in a later spin on that main riff

    Justin! This band has been one of my favorite and mainstay bands for the last 10 plus years. You need to check out Racecar from their first album, Scarlett from their second. The event from Juggernaut Alpha, which they used the theme of in this song during the chorus... Man I could go on forever but you get the deal. This band basically has no bad song
