idk i think the remake angela is a lot better in the remake. she looks and sounds like a traumatized character and her being “schizophrenic” is kinda… the whole point. i really hate the angela slander man
41:19 pyramid head is extremely super natural, the reason the blade doesnt cut, is because there is no intention from pyramid head to slice james in half. Instead, he is knocked off the roof in to previously locked off rooms for the sake of progression. At many points throughout the game, pyramid head focuses a lot on helping James "progress" and confront his own guilt. We see in the hospital chase section that he is more than capable of running and outspeeding characters, but he chooses not to, his purpose is to punish James, not nessesarily be as lethal as possible.
Also a small detail I don't think they followed up with in the remake, is when james got hit and we fell down, we always had low health as a result, so it almost killes james
@godtheanimal8357 the damage is irrelevant, the fall didnt kill James, and it never would. I think the only reason James did take damage in the 2001 version, was because the game was simply new, the devs didnt want to tip off the player to pyramid heads role quite yet. Most players went into the remake understanding pyramid head better, so there was no need for the damage in my opinion.
I've been listening to this for half an hour not realizing this amazing video essay doesn't even have 500 views, your work is very underrated, I hope your channel gets the track it deserves 👍
they made james a lot less awkward and stilted in the remake which i think made the experience way more interesting, but it did change the lore and map up a bit, it feels like sort of a different experience
You dont have to waste ANY ammo on Pyramid Head in either boss fight. The fight is on a timer whether you shoot or not, the sirens will sound after a couple minutes and he leaves
Between you and AshleyRoboto, I feel sane when you guys talk about the remake. I’ve never played either, but enjoy watching people play, and breaking down the lore. And the pacing is exactly the problem. But also, you might enjoy Ashley’s breakdown of the remake on her channel too. Great video!
a fantastic video man i love the way you think, its the reason i love people coming up with there own thoughts because nothing is truly wrong or right with any theories coming out from 23 years ago to now keep it up man
The Leave Ending FEELS the best but it's actually the worst when you consider the fact that he just straight up told a little girl that he MURDERD his wife. You know damn well that little br4t is going to snitch. 😆
Yeah, the Leave ending honestly doesn't make sense to me. I mean, the last interaction he has with Laura is telling her the truth and Laura literally tells James she hates him, physically attacks him, and leaves him. I just don't see her randomly changing her mind and being like "it's all good! You can adopt me ☺️!"
@@evanmax717 Exactly. 😆 I personally think the "Stillness" ending is the best because it's basically just a more touching version of the "In Water" ending, and "In Water" is supposedly the official canon ending.
@@LIQUIDSNAKEz28The Stillness ending is SO well done 😭! Her telling him that she's always been waiting for him in the afterlife. The devs had confirmed that there isn't a canon ending; it's all up to how you personally played which I like. Though I definitely get that In Water can make the most sense for sure!
I decided to play through og SH2 before the remake and man was it hard to get through, thankfully it’s not too long. I eventually had to watch a walkthrough after getting lost a few times but overall it was neat. The remake is definitely a 1000x better game to play
You have a disability, you can't beat old school games, they're too difficult for you. You and your generation are inferior. It's no wonder the girls from your gen are flocking to older guys.
2:45:45 Actually, you can get all 8 endings on just 2 playthroughs, you just need to keep a save in the hotel & use the items in your inventory to influence what ending you get. I did this for the platinum trophy on PS5, took me about 20 hours total. My first run exploring every single nook & cranny I could, the second just plowing through the game (to get the "faster than fog" trophy) Maria, Leave, & In Water can be done on the first playthrough, I wanted to see if they changed anything for Maria so I always checked up on her & never inspected any of the items in my inventory until the very end. Then Rebirth, Dog, & UFO on NewGame+ (for the "party like it's 2001" trophy). Bliss & Stillness aren't tied to a trophy but are also possible on the NG+ run as long as you remember to pick up the items needed for them, getting the new item(s) for Stillness will override Rebirth though
Minor critique the voice acting isn't bad, it's supposed to be weird and dreamlike. We do have information on the process of the recording it was a more creative choice, kind of like a David lynch film. You don't have to like it but it is cool to me.
I always thought the Oppressor was Angela, The Seductress was Mariah and the Glutenous Pig is Eddie. Angela was oppressed by her family and it’s the only tablet depicting two figures.
Kudos to you for not caring about the algorithm and creating content true to you.
Yes crazy breakaway madlad creating silent hill 2 content one month after the remake release 😂😂

I’m close friends with a woman who has an unfortunately similar backstory to Angela, and the mannerisms and behavior are spot-on.

Insane that bro made a retrospective of the old game, kudos to you
Daaaamn we need more like this. Subbed
This remake was amazing. But the original reading of Marys letter at the end is so much more emotinal.
Now we have two amazing versions of SH2

Shaky take man. .it's def the best ending. He confesses to Laura, speaks to Mary and realizes she forgives him and wants him to move forward.

Really dude, you take issue with Stillness that is just a close up of In Water but like the changed UFO ending? Nonsense

The phallic pistons in the flesh room represent how many times angela was abused
Great video essay up until the remake part, you sound really whiny about it

The water ending is my personal favorite,i lost my wife and thats the route id take

This guy
Marys a damn liar he never took her back to Silent Hill shes in the backseat of the car.
Not the trunk, Mary is in the back seat
It was confirmed that the photos had a secret code saying "You've been here for 20 years". The remake is literally a loop
W video
heartbreaking
You know today that Eddie would be an Incel
So if he hooks up with Maria would that be m*sterb*tion.
Okay send me an email I’ll make some beats for you in my spare time
