I just really appreciate this information and all like it. I was indoctrinated in the public schools since age 5 about evolution. Reading the Bible is crucial to understanding truth but I’m so glad there are these people out there who help us to also understand the truth and how important it is to our Christian faith.

Evolutionary biology and related fields lead to many advancements in areas that affect all of our lives, such as agriculture, and more importantly, medicine. Much of modern medicine is based on evolutionary theory. Genetics / evolutionary biology= *very* important fields of science.

I understand both sides of the problem much better now, thank you. The only sticking point for me is bones, dinosaur bones in particular. I'm completely aware of the inaccuracies in man's dating techniques, specifically carbon dating, so whatever age "science" says it is, is taken with a grain of salt. But at no point in time did dinosaurs and man coexist. That seems to limit the biblical timeline even further. I watched a debate between Kent Hovind and Hugh Ross about the age of the earth and day age theory a couple of years ago. After watching the debate I was talking to my dad about it and about the earth only being a little over 6000 years old. He had read the entire bible, where as I have only ever read parts of it and he said the millions of years was when God remade the earth and stretched out the heavens. You must take their actual evidence and data and separate it from their assumptions, world view, and interpretation of that evidence and look at it critically, not just follow what they say is “fact” when indeed it is not necessarily true. Example: Fact: this rock sample has X amount of parent element and X amount of daughter element. Assumptions: It is X years old because this method is a reliable clock, but three critical assumption have erroneously been made: 1) No changes have ever occurred in the rate of radioactive decay. 2) No contamination has ever added or reduced the original amounts of parent or daughter elements in this system. 3) At the moment of initial existence, this sample had all patent element and zero daughter elements to begin with. I have a theory about one of the pillars of old earth origin science. I theorize that radioactive carbon 14 decays at a vastly different rate today than it did before the world wide flood. It would be like a clock turning at 10 times the normal speed for 28 days then settling down to normal speed for the last two days of the month. You look at the clock on day 30 and it looks like 282 days have elapsed! Imagine all the clocks read the same but on your trip you have been following a calendar instead of a clock so you can see that only 30 days have elapsed. Old Earth Scientists are looking at clocks but creationist/ young earth scientists are looking at calendars.

In addition, how elements behave on stars is probably different than on planets. Very hard to tell what they do on other planets with the tools we have with the possible exception of some of the other planets nearby, maybe. I'm not a scientist and didn't claim to be so I'm not going to try to battle anyone over my idea. However, one thing I have observed about theoretical science is that none of it is unshakeable. A theory that has not been called into question just hasn't been around long enough. And I know that I don't know the answer to everything but I know the one who does! His knowledge is unlimited. It is good to have him as a friend to help you be sure of the things that really matter. Theories can be amusing & we can fight & kill & die for them but they don't satisfy what we really yearn for. As a biologist, I'm here to say that genetics rules out humans repopulating from 8 individuals. No way in heck can two individuals repopulate their species. I used to be a believer, but the flood story is the reason i began to question the narrative. I just really appreciate this information and all like it. I was indoctrinated in the public schools since age 5 about evolution. Reading the Bible is crucial to understanding truth but I’m so glad there are these people out there who help us to also understand the truth and how important it is to our Christian faith.

The only sticking point for me is bones, dinosaur bones in particular. I'm completely aware of the inaccuracies in man's dating techniques, specifically carbon dating, so whatever age "science" says it is, is taken with a grain of salt. But at no point in time did dinosaurs and man coexist. That seems to limit the biblical timeline even further. So my question is: What reply is best when asked by a non-believer to explain the inaccuracies?

What version of the Bible do you consider to be the closest to the Greek and Hebrew documents from which they are derived. I have a copy of the 1599 Geneva Bible, the King James, and the NIV. There seems to be enough variances and missing verbiage to make the translated text hard to follow directly. Where can I get a most true and comparative version, including all of both the recent, the fully known Greek, and Hebrew, which includes documents such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Why also is the writings of Enoch not referenced. He obviously was a very Holy Man to be Ascended into Heaven without death.

That was pretty much my position when I was Christian. Who was I to tell God how he created or creates? The universe is dynamic and ever changing; it was not created and then 'finished'-- stars are being born and going through their life cycles and dying, galaxies are colliding, lots of stuff going on out there..
The Earth and universe are both very, very old. This is all based on multiple lines of data and evidence from several fields of science and knowledge and many centuries of research and observations, conducted by millions of scientists and others from all over the world, representing many different religious beliefs, cultures, languages, etc..
When I was a Christian I did not deny God's work. Young Earth creationism may as well be considered blasphemy, and many Christians do consider it to be precisely that.

I watched a debate between Kent Hovind and Hugh Ross about the age of the earth and day age theory a couple of years ago. After watching the debate I was talking to my dad about it and about the earth only being a little over 6000 years old. He had read the entire bible, where as I have only ever read parts of it and he said the millions of years was when God remade the earth and stretched out the heavens. I've read more books on natural history than I can count. And I've never seen any evidence that the earth might be young. So what he says is that our duty as Christians is to believe falsehoods.
I’m not surprised, within your sentence you answer your own dilemma. Essentially you’re saying “I’ve read more books than I can count all of the opinions of people whose world views always posit everything is old and they interpret all their evidence that way, and I’ve never seen any evidence to the contrary”.
You must take their actual evidence and data and separate it from their assumptions, world view, and interpretation of that evidence and look at it critically, not just follow what they say is “fact” when indeed it is not necessarily true.
Example:
Fact: this rock sample has X amount of parent element and X amount of daughter element.
Assumptions: It is X years old because this method is a reliable clock, but three critical assumption have erroneously been made: 1) No changes have ever occurred in the rate of radioactive decay. 2) No contamination has ever added or reduced the original amounts of parent or daughter elements in this system. 3) At the moment of initial existence, this sample had all patent element and zero daughter elements to begin with.
And I’ll even add a fourth assumption: There are no contradictory “clocks” we observe in current day observations that would undoubtedly reduce the potential maximum age of anything, without creating additional unobservable and unprovable “rescue devices” that defy likelihood or probabilities when there are far more simple and likely explanations.
Modern day scientists clouded by naturalistic and atheistic dedication is FULL of all of these improbable and impossible theories in order to explain away insurmountable evidence that contradicts their hard-held world views.

The Theory of Evolution has been, and is still demonstrated, to be an accurate explanation of how mankind evolved from more primitive forms of carbon-based life forms. The so-called young earthers need it to be false because it conflicts with their creation theories.
I'm not finding a lot outside of Creationist websites or literature regarding Dr. Mortenson. Where did he receive his doctorate? Has his work been featured in mainstream scientific publications? Has his research and findings been peer reviewed? These are all things to ask yourself when a so called person of science is making big claims.

I have a theory about one of the pillars of old earth origin science. I theorize that radioactive carbon 14 decays at a vastly different rate today than it did before the world wide flood. It would be like a clock turning at 10 times the normal speed for 28 days then settling down to normal speed for the last two days of the month. You look at the clock on day 30 and it looks like 282 days have elapsed! Imagine all the clocks read the same but on your trip you have been following a calendar instead of a clock so you can see that only 30 days have elapsed. Old Earth Scientists are looking at clocks but creationist/ young earth scientists are looking at calendars.
Your not the first to theorize this and there is actually a enormous flaw with this and AIG tried to cover this topic before it’s called the heat problem

In addition, how elements behave on stars is probably different than on planets. Very hard to tell what they do on other planets with the tools we have with the possible exception of some of the other planets nearby, maybe.
I'm not a scientist and didn't claim to be so I'm not going to try to battle anyone over my idea. However, one thing I have observed about theoretical science is that none of it is unshakeable. A theory that has not been called into question just hasn't been around long enough.
And I know that I don't know the answer to everything but I know the one who does! His knowledge is unlimited. It is good to have him as a friend to help you be sure of the things that really matter. Theories can be amusing & we can fight & kill & die for them but they don't satisfy what we really yearn for.

As a biologist, I'm here to say that genetics rules out humans repopulating from 8 individuals. No way in heck can two individuals repopulate their species.

The modern science of paternity testing is the same science that indicates common ancestry. That is how we know the bodies that were claimed to be Kzar Nicholas's children were them and that the body found under the parking lot in England was really the body of Richard III. Because it's also in Genesis that all the animals are for food except Humans and blood. Then each time Heavenly Father made a new covenant he changed things, including food, clean and unclean list. And in the New Testament Romans 14 vegans are called weak(as in weak in their faith) it goes on to say we shouldn't judge meat nor vegan eaters(only Heavenly Father can judge) and He blesses both Omnivores and Vegans. Scriptures make it clear eating meat isn't a sin. Judging people over eating or not eating meat is a sin.
