Hannah, I really love your content lately. The bottom fell out of my professional world on Tuesday & reflecting on some of your recent videos, esp the fashion ones, has really helped me maintain a sense of "pulled togetherness" but more importantly, dressing & doing my "style" in an honest way that isn't concealing my health issues, as I have been. More than looking cute or even feeling confident, honesty and authenticity are my priorities, and I think I have to start being real with everyone about my disability, and not paint on a hale & hearty face every day. Sometimes you gotta just slap on a face and do a thing, but it turns out that if you do that daily when you're not ok, you'll just fall apart eventually...
Fellow spoony sending healing vibes! Remember to take the wins where you can get them and sometimes, getting out of bed or putting on clothes or showering is absolutely win enough. Take care of yourself 💜💙💚💛🧡❤

But I walked the dog 4 times and spackled on some various eye glitters & highlighters to cheer my toddler aesthetic soul. A clickety-clack overhead video!! of LIPSTICK!! You are one of the few folks out there repping for us neutral/kinda warm super fair skin tones (I'm not olive, so just a teeny bit different than you but still) and it is everything!!
An Aha! moment, thank you MillieMa. I hadn't realised Hannah is a pale olive til now. I watched this with a real sense of unity over the colour choices Hannah opts for. Now I know why. We are the same undertone. 😊
I've always been quite intimidated by a red lip. As I've gotten older, however, I've discovered that I prefer lower pigmentation and blurred lip lines. Finding the application method that suits me best has been a game changer!! My go-to red lip at the moment is the ELF Glossy Lip Stain in "Spicy Sienna."
I soooo love this declutter! I’ve been holding onto lipsticks for years on a ridiculous notion of “just in case” “well maybe” “it’s a pretty color” etc. And I now feel confident to purge them without remorse - thank you 🙏🏽
As someone going through a lot of body changes pertaining to motherhood lately, this video was so timely. I recently found your channel and have been bingeing all your fashion content. I have never heard fashion advice quite like yours before and its really helping me discover the way i want to dress. Thank you!
Ngl, sandy textures in my teeth ickkkkkk me, and I am permanently trauma bonded with Kackie over the chantecaille crystals. I actually had a physical reaction when Hannah brought it up. Lol kudos for Kackie's descriptive powers & on camera emoting (she really is a communications masterclass).
Love this edited collection, but also as always a great reminder to consider how a lipstick color looks on your complexion rather than just how beautiful it looks in the tube or as a swatch. Love your content, Hannah! Declutters have to be my favourite :)
It’s funny that Goldie Red looks like a blue red on you. I’m also a pale olive, but I skew very cool, and I bought it and it looked straight up orange on me. I actually had to get Diana Amber (which is ostensibly pink) to get that sheer red look. It just shows you how much skin undertones affect the perception of makeup and why we should all take influencers’ opinions and marketing imagery with a grain of salt.
Am also a cool muted olive, with deep lavender and grey tones in my lips, and I really identified with this comment! Lipstick shades have been a forever struggle for me, because my lips are naturally a deep shade but still very muted and aside from purpleish/taupe shades, like the gone greige (which reads “nude” on me especially sheered out) I’ve still not figured out a way to incorporate much color. Blush is much more forgiving but I always wished I could also play with different lipsticks. Anything too warm toned is an instant NO, sadly because they always look orange and “off”.
@@amyamy8177 get a mix-in pigment and color adjust whatever foundations you like the finish of. I recommend the LA Girl mixing pigments. It’s much easier to use the blue to neutralize warmth (and white if you can’t find anything pale enough) to get the shade you need vs trying to find the right shade and then having to live with whatever formula it happens to be in.
@@swesttttt nooo i failed at both (blue mixing drops doesn't do enough to correct a shade) i think it's because i am more muted and mixing pigment mainly help making things more green/less orange.
@@amyamy8177 Have you tried a lavender vs a blue? Or a mint vs a green? A blue absolutely does create a less saturated color, but if you felt it wasn’t doing what you liked maybe start with more of the less saturated color correctors. But I have to wonder, maybe you’re not using them properly? For what it’s worth, you might try again with the blue using super small amounts of foundation and more blue than you’d think you’d need. And don’t just use a corrective color under foundation. If anything use it over, but best is mixing on a palette (or whatever clean surface) until you get a good match. But the color wheel works. Watch artist paint mixing videos and you’ll see what I mean.
I love all of the browns that you show here. I "collect" a lot of high-end makeup, and I always reach for Gone Griege, even though one is broken and I have to put it on with a brush. It just goes to show that fancy packaging only goes so far. Thank you for this video. I love the format and would enjoy more overhead content like this. You are the only UA-camr that I feel like I REALLY enjoy every particle of your content. Thank you again for marching to the beat of your own drum because people who do the same will come here and enjoy. See you next time!
It's so funny seeing Janet rust next to the other reds, it's most assuredly the most "blue" red of all the reds! Even though I'm not currently a fan of lipstick, I go through cycles so I love to see what other folks are into at the moment. 🥰❤
“Striated, columnal,” are you kidding me?! My English Lit major heart just melted into a puddle-I love the way in which you express yourself! And if Velvet Sorcery wasn’t your thing for that grungy vibe, have you tried Lisa Eldridge’s Luxurious Lucent in “Meet Me In Berlin?” Her lucent formula gives that Merit balmy vibe, and MMIB just got restocked. It’s beautifully grungy, more chapsticky, and has great color payoff that lasts more like a stain with longer wear. Highly recommend if you were curious about the lucents! 💄
I love the Lisa Eldridge velvet dragon, which for me reads more orange than red, but I’ve lost it ((horrors)). Maybe I’ll try that Merit Cabo as a replacement, since it looks like they share the same undertones.
Ohhh, I’ve been really hoping you’d do an updated lipstick collection video, what exquisite timing! Funny to me you decluttered Janet Rust because to me (with very similar colouring to yours), it looks the most appealing of the reds and makes me want to go swatch it in store as I currently am without a red lipstick, and love one that leans more “dirty”/cherry. Thank you as always for your in depth reviews ❤️🔥 (I would adore if you also included footage of yourself wearing the shades, but appreciate that complicates what is probably a more straightforward video to produce)
Love this so much! So thoughtful and educated. Do you think you might do a "Subtly Spring" look for us using the Chanticaille? To be it doesn't look "classic pink" but rather more corally pinkish hybrid shade that in my gut is telling me could be quite flattering on a LOT of people, including people with desaturated and less common undertones. Plus, I really wanna see it applied to your lips. It very well could be the first ever chanticaille product I ever ask for/purchase for myself as a gift. I've recently had some major health wins after years of suffering from an unknown, debilitating condition, so I'm feeling SO EXCITED about having the desire and energy to actually, do my brows and put on some concealer and lipstick.
After that ruthless declutter you did a few months ago, I can't believe you let that Gucci lipstick go. I need to channel you when doing my declutters.
Lol, in the first round when you said "royal scandal 1990's vibe" I didn't realize you were referencing colour names and thought how whimsical you were with moods that just wearing a lipstick can invoke :D
I'm doing a low buy year- really only replacing ans filling major gaps as needed, but mostly I'm trying to clear out and use up what I have. MAN! It's so hard to keep up- It occurs to me that I can't even finish a small sample bullet of lipstick, let alone 10 minis and nearly 20 other lip products. I found some bite beauty minis and I didn't want to let them go because ... well I miss BITE honestly... but they were funky and in colours I just don't wear. It's crazy! You're so right that having less makeup lets you really appreciate the best of what you own. It's liberating and luxurious. Thanks Hannah for inspiring me to really push myself in this respect.
I was holding my breath waiting to see if you were going to let go of Janet Rust after all… good for you! I’ve pared down my own lipstick collection substantially as well, and while it’s been hard to let go of some of them (especially the luxury formulas), I really do feel better about what I’ve kept, because they’re the lipsticks I truly use and love ❤
Velvet sorcery and meet me in Berlin from LE are my absolute faves! VS on me reads as a very dirty grungey plum and velvet affair reads as a true pumpkin. I find the way the appear different on you so interesting! I am also a pale olive ( although a hair deeper and warmer than you )
I think that saturation, contrast and lip pigmentation matters as well. Most lipsticks turn pinky, red or plum (like Meet me in Berlin) on me, unless they’re the wrong kind of warm and pulls orange. Velvet Affair reads the same on me as on Hannah.
I can't lie....was a bit shocked to see goldie red depart 😮 I actually did a pretty huge lipstick declutter recently, I had so many languishing in my collection, mostly really bright colours that don't suit me at all...but bought in my "fantasy self" frame of mind. The older I get and the more hooded my eyes get....the more love I have for a really gorgeous lip colour as a statement feature !
Nice collection! And very cohesive in choice of colors; it is clear that you curate it. I only have 9 lipsticks and 1 lip gloss now. If I was able to find my perfect beige-rose-nude color, I’d easily discard 4 lipsticks out of my collection, because right now I’m mixing them to reach my perfect nude lips. In fact, I only need 4 lipsticks: 1 red, 1 peach, 1 nude and 1 magenta.
At the end of last year I too went through my lipsticks, because I didn't really wore them in 2020/21 and never went through them since buying them in 2019. Thanks to your content I realised that I have a specific taste in colours. But I also don't really like to stray from that. Last year I did a successful No-Buy for lipsticks and haven't bought a new one so far, while using up 4. I have too much of them, that they literally go off on me.
@@jenv6846 Same here. I now have my favourites and most used ones, and want to stick with them. Maybe once/twice a year I try something new. But most of the time I reach for my tried and trues. But nonetheless I'm still on the hunt for my perfect deep neutral brown lipstick, because my favourite one has been discontinued.
Hannah for a very pale nude that doesn’t go straight up pink or orange on fair olive skin - try Edward Bess Pure Impulse. It’s my go to when I need a desaturated lip with a stronger colored eye. It also plays well with different lip liners to get it to lean one way or another. I know he also makes a couple of even lighter shades but since pure impulse was perfect on me I haven’t tried them - I thought they might go a little “concealer lips.” Whereas pure impulse doesn’t on me.
Great video! When watching you swatch the browns, I couldn’t help but wonder your thoughts on Saie’s Noveau which is also a cool brown. Maybe you would like it! Thank you for your content- so fun to watch :)
Did you ever try the legendary Clinique Black Honey? I got it recently (I'm a late bloomer I guess) and I'm loving it, and I thought it might be something you like. It's blurry and light and natural but vampy and sexy and a bit dramatic at the same time.
Gucci and YSL are my favourite. I feel thé the YSL are my basic (and by basic I mean the ones I am craving everyday), just like the NU base is not « shining with eccentricity » but soooo good and high quality and wearable even tho really have an impact) I don’t even know how to describe it. But I know I can always find my happyness in YSL brand when it comes to lipstick. Pricy, but I have some for years, always use them. They never smell bad. The smell too is so special and pleasurable for me. As well as packaging. And packaging wise, Gucci ❤
Sitting on my craft table is a pile of lip products I need to go through. I noticed my favorites are all in my purse/makeup bag. I plan on replacing my favorites and letting go of the rest. I only plan on adding one new color this year (a warm leaning mauve). I am also going to use what I have on hand. Orange is my favorite color and I have too many lip products in orange 😂
I bought Goldie red after seeing it on you. I actually finished it. On me it looks very orange warm red and not at all cool/ cherry. It's desaturated and an 'everyday red'. I tend to wear cooler colors these days though. Maybe I will get another voile if they bring that raspberry sheer red in that formula.
Unrelated to this video (but referencing your last video) I saw a cool idea from UA-camr Orly Shani (the DIY Designer). She has a video about making a full circle skirt out of round tablecloths. You should watch her video called SUPER EASY Circle Skirt Hack. Her videos are great, you might already watch her. But I’ve been wanting a full skirt like you were talking about and thought I’d pass along the info for when you thrift shop 😊
Hi! Thanks for this video! I searched for your lipstick declutters…which one(s) do you recommend I watch that shows your journey to narrowing your collection down to this curated amount?
Ha-ha, Your pinks, maybe browns for others, but I so understand You. I have four LE lipsticks, but I'm mostly wearing two of them. Affair - almost red on me and Meet me in Berlin (brown). Kitten Mischief which looks caramely on others is straight pink on me and so is Muse - grayish pink. Im not the right skin color for her lipsticks. The Merit ones in Your collection looked tempting, but now I must finish the ones I have.
So interesting how on your skin these brownie nudes pull pink. I have an olive skin tone too, but I have the opposite effect - every nude pulls orange on me, because the Green in my skin cancels out the red in those shades and what’s left is orange/yellow.
that definitely happens to me if there's warmth in the color! Merit "Slip," for example, which is supposedly a neutral, looked really orange on me so I gave it away. I think the browns that I have that turn pink are mostly devoid of any orange at all, and that's why they've stuck around as "pinks."
I can't wait to finish my relatively old 9 lipsticks & replace them with Lisa Eldridge ones ! Although I broke my promise to myself & just got the bourjois Velvet pencil in 11 vintage red 😂😅 I'm fixing my mistake by making it " the handbag lipstick " 😅 because I won't risk my LE lipsticks while traveling 😂😂❤ I also want gucci lipstick in the vintagey floral packaging just for that 😢 it's just too expensive 😅
She might answer this comment, but I’m sure it’s mentioned in one of her other videos, either an earlier lipstick declutter one or maybe a brand review. I know it has featured in previous videos :)
So. I ordered Gone Greige off eBay, using our similar pale olive undertones (my colouring might be a touch more stark than yours, but similar) as a reference. And the damnedest thing happened. You know how people have used lipstick as blush for aeons or more? Well. When I opened the tube and swatched it, the first thought in my head was, "This would be an outstanding contour colour for me - unlike most browns, it leans way more purple than orange." And whaddaya know, I was RIGHT.
I’m always surprised that you passed over Merit Slip. It just feels to me like a you colour. I’m actually looking among the Gucci lipsticks for a colour dupe in a more opaque formula that hopefully won’t break off in the tube as mine has
My Gucci matte (Meet me in Argentina) also broke off with barely any use. Definitely not a formula I would repurchase for the price. The packaging is beautiful, the product isn’t that great.
I have a huge probl finding a brown lipstick which for me is a brown tone, everything turns pink on me and it drives me nuts! Some tones looking brown go purple too like Lisa Eldridge Painterly😂 I’m about to loose my mind🤪 I’ve bought hundreds of lipsticks but end up giving them away because they just look wrong on my warm olive medium skin😊
I've been trying to find A Royal Scandal for months but it's gone from the Gucci website (as have some other colours) and I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm very much afraid it has been discontinued :(
I was getting crazy anxiety watching you roll up the bullets so far to swatch, and *BOOM* there went Janet Rust! She's fixable tho. It's just pigment and oils. Chill, me, chill. 😂
You look so fabulous in a bold lip, Hannah. I always want to wear one but almost never do because I hate having lipstick get on my water glass or linen napkin or loved ones. Does transfer not bother you, or do you have some magic way of stopping it? 🤎
when I apply them, if I'm hoping it will go the whole day, I apply them really "hard" and kind of push the pigment into my lips, then rub my lips together really hard, and then blot a bit and do the whole thing again. I usually go through that 3 times and by the end it all feels much more sturdy. Then if I want to minimize transfer I'll blot pretty hard with a paper towel or napkin. It's not bulletproof but helps a lot!
Lipstick is my life, my love, my Achilles heel. I own far too many, but unlike you, dear Hannah, I cannot, I repeat, can NOT declutter them. You made it look so easy, but I may need some sort of intervention/rehabilitation program.
So you made me obsessed w gucci lipsticks, and at first i was like becoming obsessed w 60 dollar lipsticks bc of watching HLP is the antithesis of her content, BUT THEN: I spent 60 on a royal scandal, I want a couple others, but bc they're 60 I wait and think for a long time. But because I am waiting and thinking and looking forward to the GOAT lipsticks, I don't buy other lipsticks. Becoming obsessed w gucci lipsticks has slashed my lipstick spending probably by 10.

Wait am I first to a new HLP?! The best of all videos?? 🎉🎉
This was the best. I would love this with the other makeup in your collection soon!
Always love your overhead videos, and the swatches in this one were just lush 💜
Thanks so much Hannah!! Going through my collection while watching this! Putting some things in the trash pile but it’s so hard!!
Hi Hannah. I love a bullet lippie.
This is one of my favourite kinds of videos. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great video! When watching you swatch the browns, I couldn’t help but wonder your thoughts on Saie’s Noveau which is also a cool brown. Maybe you would like it! Thank you for your content- so fun to watch :)
IDEA: Using Lorna Dune as a blush… Could it be a contender for the famous « old gum » color?!? 💄👀
03:11 oh jebus…Chantecaille Pink Opal - the most divisive lipstick in Kackie/Hannah history. Thank The Goddess the friendship survived!
What if you clean out that the Gucci lipstick tube, then put in Gone Griege into the fancy tube?
You can also get the Gone Greige lip pencil (my HG) just about everywhere ❤❤❤
Super interesting and fresh. Thank you.
Do any of the Merit lipsticks dupe the color of Bobbi Brown Crushed lipstick Telluride? I love that color but the BB formula was too drying for me.
Can we please get a blush swatching video 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I Love that Videos!!❤💜 & OMFG YOU ARE AN ANGEL!!😍😍😍
Thanks for sharing! Now I'm going to check her out 😊
@@blendofdays she’s great!
Hi! Thanks for this video! I searched for your lipstick declutters…which one(s) do you recommend I watch that shows your journey to narrowing your collection down to this curated amount?
Wanna try Merit lipsticks so hard 😍
You can give Velvet Sorcery to me! haha I love your videos :D
Wow! The drama! Goldie Red! :)
So interesting how on your skin these brownie nudes pull pink. I have an olive skin tone too, but I have the opposite effect - every nude pulls orange on me, because the Green in my skin cancels out the red in those shades and what’s left is orange/yellow.
So happy to hear this. Thought I was the only one who can almost anything orange.
that definitely happens to me if there's warmth in the color! Merit "Slip," for example, which is supposedly a neutral, looked really orange on me so I gave it away. I think the browns that I have that turn pink are mostly devoid of any orange at all, and that's why they've stuck around as "pinks."
I wanted to purchase one of the Zeesea lipsticks - just for the packaging. I love the dragon. So far, I have resisted...
Coming in 4th ❤ Waiting for you to hit 100K ❤️
I can't wait to finish my relatively old 9 lipsticks & replace them with Lisa Eldridge ones ! Although I broke my promise to myself & just got the bourjois Velvet pencil in 11 vintage red 😂😅 I'm fixing my mistake by making it " the handbag lipstick " 😅 because I won't risk my LE lipsticks while traveling 😂😂❤ I also want gucci lipstick in the vintagey floral packaging just for that 😢 it's just too expensive 😅
Always an inspiration 😉
What color/shade is the one from ZeeSea? You didn't say and I don't see it listed in the links. Thanks!
She might answer this comment, but I’m sure it’s mentioned in one of her other videos, either an earlier lipstick declutter one or maybe a brand review. I know it has featured in previous videos :)
whoops sorry i forgot to put it in the description! Will remedy now.
Ok this is the second video I’ve noticed these nails! Can you let us know wheat they are?
Great video! ❤
I’m actually looking among the Gucci lipsticks for a colour dupe in a more opaque formula that hopefully won’t break off in the tube as mine has
Merit Slip might be too peachy orange on her, I have it.
yes it went a bit orange on me!
Yeeah as a former hoarder that is how I manage my stuff like makeup as well
wait a minute, another decluter already?! 😁
Hannah: this is a pink rose color
me, squinting: I must be colorblind
My Gucci matte (Meet me in Argentina) also broke off with barely any use. Definitely not a formula I would repurchase for the price. The packaging is beautiful, the product isn’t that great.
I have a huge probl finding a brown lipstick which for me is a brown tone, everything turns pink on me and it drives me nuts! Some tones looking brown go purple too like Lisa Eldridge Painterly😂 I’m about to loose my mind🤪 I’ve bought hundreds of lipsticks but end up giving them away because they just look wrong on my warm olive medium skin😊
Love the merits!
Pour one out for Goldie Red, the Gucci og. She really had her own little era on the Channel.
Also, I'm curious - do you like Merit's Slip? It's a nice neutral but a little too toffee on me - I usually use it mixed with some pink.
I gave it away, it's an example of the kind of neutral that just pulls a bit orange on me!
Just, thank you!
@@HannahLouisePoston Thank you, Hannah! I’ll try that.
Lipstick is my life, my love, my Achilles heel. I own far too many, but unlike you, dear Hannah, I cannot, I repeat, can NOT declutter them. You made it look so easy, but I may need some sort of intervention/rehabilitation program.
Reds that are orange, pinks that are brown and mauve, browns that are greige...Hannah, when will the madness end?
So interesting, Baby is completely Brown on me. Not pink at all
Put a darker brown lipliner with Goldie Red to neutralize it
I found getting rid of the Gucci voile painful. (Janet Rust wasn’t 😂)
Is Gucci royal affair discontinued?
I think those three decluttered lipsticks would be great melted together.
🌸
Uhm YES PLS❤
Not gonna lie, I was disappointed this wasn’t atleast an hour 😣🥲 I live for these detailed declutters
girl that first lisa eldridge lipstick was as chocolate fudge brown as they get lol
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
❤❤❤
💜💚💙
Hannah, can we have a cat update? How is Sadie? How is the teeny tiny baby, who is almost certainly a catlet by now?
Sadie is doing great! She loves our new house on the east coast because it's much quieter than LA and there is more wildlife to see out of the windows. Smidge lives with Bekah now and she is best friends with her kitty brother Ghost: instagram.com/stories/highlights/17955086554894495/
I threw out the vast majority of my lipsticks yesterday. As much as I love buying them it turns out I don’t actually wear them.🤔
Your thumbnail just appeared, and totally OOT, has anyone come up with the product name *Slipstick* yet?
Don't need to explain the product, do I?
maybelline gone greige and mac stone are dupes for each other
All your “pinks” look brown to me or coral
everyone knows what's in that maybelline tube with the dark blue lid lol....
