Hannah. If you havent tried it yet, and you get an opportunity to, you should try the Adept Minka palette. Every time I open mine it makes me think of how I think youd love it. Its formula is stunning and the grungy textured metallics are just.... ugh. So so good! Pictures of it dont do it justice.

I bought couple of the merit shadows and have a chronic illness that impacts my hands so I actually had that exact problem you had opening them as a consistent issue. Unfortunately it made them unusable for me. The packaging is beautiful but terribly designed for anyone with mobility or grip issues. It was a definite declutter for me (I couldn't return it because the time passed a bit faster than anticipated with work haha)

Kaki's declutters make me anxious and slightly stressed, it's just too much stuff. Watching you do your thing feels relaxing, basking, for a short moment, in the illusion that we are not all at the mercy of chaos. All is in order in this world, everything is under control and every little thing has its place, all is conscious decisions. Mindful, that's the word, you do it mindfully and it relaxes me.
I realllly struggled with the merit shadow formula. I feel gaslit 😅 it’s so patchy, unforgiving, is somehow budge-proof but also creases? After filtering through Sephora reviews, I found my reality confirmed. It’s a very confusing product. I only hope others don’t go out and purchase after seeing it posted here without understanding how to make it work. I myself wasn’t able to. I worry their pr team went too hard, and it’s too late to reformulate. Something bout it is off.

Your attitude towards products is really interesting. You have a sense of abundance like of course your heart will be stolen by something else in the future and that you want to have less so that you can enjoy more. You don’t speak about products like you owe them something. This has been really helpful for me. I’ve had a sunk cost fallacy about products before but slowly am coming out of it. I don’t owe these products anything just because they exist in my drawer. I can get rid of them regardless of the circumstances of how they came into my life or what I used to think about them.

@@MoonlitSunflower well if you actually dislike the palette then of course not, but it gets complicated in examples like this - you really like 25% of the palette or you like it 100% but the packaging is broken, cracked, or hard to use. I’ve just chosen to depot in those situations but sometimes it’s not worth it anyway.
@ampersignia I was thinking depot too. I've found that I just won't use singles as much, but I also like to pair palettes up. I guess it depends on how much love I have for that 25% of the palette. I have tried over the years to duplicate the shades I love less. In the beginning of my love affair with palettes, I found that I had a lot of the same sort of thing.
Also, I was mainly talking about listening to people saying that a palette deserves more use during declutter. Or that it deserves a better home. Sure, maybe it could be put to better use with a friend or family member, but eventually, they get tired of the hand me downs and I end up feeling like I'm dumping my clutter on to them. It was all fun and games for a couple of years, but most of the people I gifted lightly used palettes to just aren't that into it. This is I why I try to look at it like it's me that deserves better than to buy things I don't want or need. It's me that deserves my space and to not feel guilty about being ready to let a makeup product go. I also try to focus my money more on things that don't expire, but... I know this may seem off topic- but I have been dying to request of you a stationary introduction to your fountain pens, inks and planner. I am such a stationary enthusiast and I think this is an extension of a love of " beautiful things" and aesthetics and could use some grounded Hannah appreciation while also discussing the need for balance with stationary. I know its not your usual content, but I feel its connected to alove of design and beauty (it is for me) and I have been on a fountain pen frenzy/ craving for a bit...) That said, such a beautiful reflection in this videa of how you have come to know yourself and find the balance between collecting and using your make up in a conscious way that sparks joy but also puts your love of beauty into practice.

I love how you describe your feelings about certain makeup items and how sensual your approach to makeup is, you almost make me experience how the product feels and looks and I don't even have to see it with my own eyes or touch it. And the feeling you get when looking at Lisa Eldridge palette - I get it sooo well, I had it with Glam palette, it was supposed to be my perfect color story and formula but for some reason it never worked as I wanted it to (it looked golden on me, ew.) and every time I saw it I felt discomfort and getting rid of it made me feel so happy (and at the same time it made one of my friends very happy). would love a kevyn aucoing review :) like what's good and how do you use it? i don't see many reviews for the brand but it feels like most people know of the brand but just don't talk about it much :/ the sensual skinenhancerhave a lot of muted shades :) (i own sx03 which is nicely muted but i think that one will be too yellow for you based on your thoughts on nars chantilly - both look too orange on me not too yellow). Fyi my favorite tip for complexion products are: add blue for orange products green to pink products you can do a similar thing with other colors just add the color oposite of the color you want to counter on the coorwheel. It works well to counter the wrong color but does less so for products that aren't muted enough. Obviously adding a muted green to counteract a too pink products helps a bit but for mixing then initially having a shade that is muted enough is key in my experience. Also it was too saturated for me but if you want to try another green colorcorrecter i highly recommend sephoras own it feel very skicareish i assume because it is 'just' green no white color and such.:D
Would you do a video swatching your favorite eyeshadows? In palettes and singles. It sounds like a great video to me. I'd be down for every shadow you own, but that may be tedious and less interesting to others. If you did it, though, I bet I would be the only one to watch.

I've been thinking about your relationship with makeup and aesthetics (specifically your journey to this kind of minimalism); I think I am ready to start analyzing my own relationship with consumerism and whatnot. I have had a spending problem so this year I am doing a no-buy too! I've grown up in pretty extreme poverty. So, whenever I get any amount of money, I spend it on makeup before it can be taken from me. I want to enjoy my money and the things it can do for me while being able to save for my future. I'm very excited! Thank you for always reaffirming the importance of a passionate, but modest, love for makeup!
Absolutely love your declutter videos! I would really appreciate knowing how long these products are good before expiring though (maybe during review videos?) because I picked up some merit shadows on your recommendation and I was shocked to see they’re only good for 6 months 🥴😕 I typically will keep things a little past their time but that one still had me shook lol & I know some brands marketed as “clean” do expire quicker but as someone who gravitates to those products, more so because they’re typically cruelty free, there are still brands that fall into that market and don’t expire that quickly wishing you lots of success and happiness for the new year! 🫶🏼
I still think those Chantecaille shadows are gorgeous. I just can't bring myself to spend $50+ for a single shade. The elephant shade is tempting though. I am glad you have a code with Auric. They rarely run sales. I think I'll repurchase Defiance before I go on vacation in the fall. I do miss the topper in that one. I loved temper's matte base and defiance's topper. Temper is not good for my complexion year round though. Auric should do a Chantecaille elephant shade. I'd love to see them expand the line. A lilac leaning mauve would be wonderous. I do appreciate that there are minis for the glow lust now too.
In view of all these eyeshadow palettes declutters I decided to hit my collection with the intention of decluttering. Nope, it didn’t happen. I open them, I see them, I swatch them and I do what I decided to do since your declutter, I select 3-5 palettes to wear weekly, and rotate them to give them their proper use. I have my original palette that for some reason I don’t wear but has sentimental value, but that’s it. I love what I got and I try to wear it as often as I can, rotating intentionally and only adquiered 5 palettes this year, 3 of them, a set of Sydney Grace in the verge of being discontinued and a couple of ND, which I was disappointed until I decided to deported and mix them up and now I’m ok with them. So your brutal declutter last year thought me something for sure.

This is just my personal interpretation, but I feel like the products that you use the least right now are ones you (or anyone else would) idealize as “fantasy self” kind of items (either of a past or of a future version of yourself) or even just mere representations of the abstract concept of beauty. The products that you actually use regularly have the chance to become utilities rather than fantasies, and are ones that you constantly have to make an active choice between, so it makes sense to me why these are easier to let go of
I like the Merit eyeshadows but boy are they hard to open. They need to change the packaging. I had to cut a square of the puffy liner for drawers/cabinets because without it I can’t open them. I’m glad you kept the Roen and Chantecaille shadows. Love.

I love how you describe your feelings about certain makeup items and how sensual your approach to makeup is, you almost make me experience how the product feels and looks and I don't even have to see it with my own eyes or touch it. As I'm trying to cut down my spending this year, this is really helpful (also, your approach to keeping 'your precious' has helped me so much with getting rid of stuff I don't love). And the feeling you get when looking at Lisa Eldridge palette - I get it sooo well, I had it with Glam palette, it was supposed to be my perfect color story and formula but for some reason it never worked as I wanted it to (it looked golden on me, ew.) and every time I saw it I felt discomfort and getting rid of it made me feel so happy (and at the same time it made one of my friends very happy).

like what's good and how do you use it? i don't see many reviews for the brand but it feels like most people know of the brand but just don't talk about it much :/
the sensual skinenhancerhave a lot of muted shades :) (i own sx03 which is nicely muted but i think that one will be too yellow for you based on your thoughts on nars chantilly - both look too orange on me not too yellow).
Fyi my favorite tip for complexion products are:
add blue for orange products
green to pink products
you can do a similar thing with other colors just add the color oposite of the color you want to counter on the coorwheel.
It works well to counter the wrong color but does less so for products that aren't muted enough. Obviously adding a muted green to counteract a too pink products helps a bit but for mixing then initially having a shade that is muted enough is key in my experience.
Also it was too saturated for me but if you want to try another green colorcorrecter i highly recommend sephoras own it feel very skicareish i assume because it is 'just' green no white color and such.:D
Would you do a video swatching your favorite eyeshadows? In palettes and singles. It sounds like a great video to me. I'd be down for every shadow you own, but that may be tedious and less interesting to others. If you did it, though, I bet I would be the only one to watch.

I've been thinking about your relationship with makeup and aesthetics (specifically your journey to this kind of minimalism); I think I am ready to start analyzing my own relationship with consumerism and whatnot. I have had a spending problem so this year I am doing a no-buy too! I've grown up in pretty extreme poverty. So, whenever I get any amount of money, I spend it on makeup before it can be taken from me. I want to enjoy my money and the things it can do for me while being able to save for my future. I'm very excited! Thank you for always reaffirming the importance of a passionate, but modest, love for makeup!

Absolutely love your declutter videos! I would really appreciate knowing how long these products are good before expiring though (maybe during review videos?) because I picked up some merit shadows on your recommendation and I was shocked to see they’re only good for 6 months 🥴😕 I typically will keep things a little past their time but that one still had me shook lol
& I know some brands marketed as “clean” do expire quicker but as someone who gravitates to those products, more so because they’re typically cruelty free, there are still brands that fall into that market and don’t expire that quickly

I am glad you have a code with Auric. They rarely run sales. I think I'll repurchase Defiance before I go on vacation in the fall. I do miss the topper in that one. I loved temper's matte base and defiance's topper. Temper is not good for my complexion year round though. Auric should do a Chantecaille elephant shade. I'd love to see them expand the line. A lilac leaning mauve would be wonderous. I do appreciate that there are minis for the glow lust now too.

In view of all these eyeshadow palettes declutters I decided to hit my collection with the intention of decluttering. Nope, it didn’t happen. I open them, I see them, I swatch them and I do what I decided to do since your declutter, I select 3-5 palettes to wear weekly, and rotate them to give them their proper use. I have my original palette that for some reason I don’t wear but has sentimental value, but that’s it. I love what I got and I try to wear it as often as I can, rotating intentionally and only adquiered 5 palettes this year, 3 of them, a set of Sydney Grace in the verge of being discontinued and a couple of ND, which I was disappointed until I decided to deported and mix them up and now I’m ok with them. So your brutal declutter last year thought me something for sure.

This is just my personal interpretation, but I feel like the products that you use the least right now are ones you (or anyone else would) idealize as “fantasy self” kind of items (either of a past or of a future version of yourself) or even just mere representations of the abstract concept of beauty. The products that you actually use regularly have the chance to become utilities rather than fantasies, and are ones that you constantly have to make an active choice between, so it makes sense to me why these are easier to let go of

I like the Merit eyeshadows but boy are they hard to open. They need to change the packaging. I had to cut a square of the puffy liner for drawers/cabinets because without it I can’t open them. I’m glad you kept the Roen and Chantecaille shadows. Love.

Hannah, there is a picture of you somewhere on the interwebs where you are wearing baby blue eyeshadow. It's SOOOO pretty. I will actually wear baby blue (it's one of the colors in my biz logo and I use it in some of my videos because it matches my logo). I am so glad you are keeping the Gucci palette for that reason!
My entire eyeshadow collection (sans a couple of depotted dupes i keep at my boyfs house): dior beige mitzah single, tom ford nude dip quad, estee lauder fierce safari mini palate and a cheap moss coloured loose single with no name. When my entire requirement is 'wet sand' with a side of leaf its all i need
