This was the concert that made them world wide. The concert was a Rolling Stones concert and Lynard Skynyrd was a backup. They Blew the Rolling Stones away and if you watch their other Kenworth 1976 performances you will see why. The Rolling Stones didn't come on stage for an hour or more afterwards. Try SIMPLE MAN and TUESDAYS GONE.

@@mattmoose1 In the USA they were well known by 1976 however; very few countries knew very little about Lynyrd Skynyrd and their epic performance until they made their appearance in this epic concert which was shown throughout EU and other places.

My wife wants the Christmas Tree before Thanksgiving, but I nag her to wait until after then. I saw Skynyrd in Germany in 74. They were so good. Singer drinking German beer on stage. Love the new look, Rebeka. Merry Christmas.

This is a band I never got to see live. I saw many of the southern rock bands that came out just after LS though. The first Molly Hatchet tour was outstanding and so glad I got to see that one.

We also put our tree up on Dec. 9th. I don’t think that is to early. I believe 2 or even 3 weeks before Christmas is just about right. We plan on taking it down 2 or 3 days after New Years Day. The guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd being from my home state of Florida in the Southern part of the U.S.A. We’re influenced by Country/Delta Blues/Gospel/ and Rock n’ Roll music and nobody ever took all these influences and blended them together any better than Skynyrd did Truly one of the top 10 if not top 5 Greatest Bands ever. Merry Christmas Rebeka 🌲❄️❄️❄️☃️And Thank You for another Spot on Wonderful Reaction!

The kid on guitar in the white shirt and blue vest was Steve Gaines, an artist Ronny Van Zandt would later claim he'd eclipse them all (not wrong). He (Steve) was heavily featured on the Street Survivors album, even given lead vocals with Ronnie's blessing. A first. Tragically, Ronnie, Steve, and Steve's sister Cassie [who got him the gig in the first place] all perished in that fatal plane crash.

Genre? Southern Fried Rock! Skynyrd basically pioneered its popularity.
I travelled with a cover band back in '99 from Los Angeles to the State of Arizona and the lead singer had never heard of Gimmie Three Steps before. What?? Anyhow, seeing as how it was a 5 hour drive, I taught him the lyrics while the guitarist strummed the melody and the drummer pounded on an ice chest to keep the timing in check. The band actually pulled it off and nobody in the crowd knew the difference. Good times.
The Xmas tree, along with the lights and decorations, usually goes up two weeks before the 25th and then stays that way until New Year's Day.
Happy Holidays to you and those you hold close to your heart:))
    Rock on!

Hi Becks! Sure, I got my Christmas tree 2 years ago (before December 8th) hahaha
And the song? These guys were simply amazing every time they performed. It's so sad about their tragical ending...
(Almost the whole original line-up died in a plane trash one year later, in 1977).

Santa in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade kicks off the holiday season, which includes putting up Christmas trees and Christmas lights. It's just a fact. So any time after Thanksgiving & before Jan 2, is good to put your tree and lights up. Anyone who judges others for being in line with these established norms is just being judgmental.
I think it is a required element of Southern Rock to have that Country twang, which I believe Texas Rock also requires though in the genres you normally find Texas Rock (more heavy these days) it is harder to discern it as it is washed out somewhat by the metal aspect, but it is there, and easily detectable if you do a side by side comparison of normal Heavy Metal or just Metal, with Modern Texas Rock like that which Pantera & Texas Hippie Coalition play. In contrast, old Texas Rock was the style of ZZ Top, Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, all of which were more Blues influenced than Metal.
