Listening to Skynard there is of course Ronnie on vocals but once and a while there is a male background singer that is my favorite Leon Wilkenson on Bass. On there song Workin for MCA there is a grouling sound in the beginning yes I'm proud to say thats Leon.. he was always layed back in the concert footage but a very intricate part of there legend
I saw these guys LIVE ! From the 40 yard line at Soldier Field. ( The home of the Chicago Bears.) At the Superbowl of Rock ! 1977. Just a few months before the plane crash. They put on an Awesome show. Everybody was on their feet, jamm'n out to the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Cracker Jack and the fact that it’s written about true events makes it even better. Ronnie said that if this guy shot him, he’d have to shoot him in the ass or elbows because he was getting the hell outta dodge.
I was playing pool at a biker bar when I was 23. I tipped the current dancer right before her break, She sat down at my table -so I chatted with her. She never mentioned that her BF was in the bar and they were in an argument! He eventually had a knife to my throat. All I could think of was this song and the irony. She talked him down -I lived, but I learned to pay attention!
Another one by them.......Can u do do lynyrd skynyrd...Call me the breeze.... it's fun upbeat... great message and great instrumentations.... love ya!!! and u look very pretty.... Cheers!! link... ua-cam.com/video/0IUoZZjM3RA/v-deo.html
This is the real deal. A beautiful black baby doll listening to some SKYNYRD. so cool. There's 2 or 3 doc./movies of Skynyrd and there's a music critic in one that said Ronnie VanZant was a genius, that he wrote many, many songs and 80 or 90% of them were hits. If you check out everything you can on Skynyrd, you will discover one of your top 3 favorite songs of all time.
Yes, you are correct. Ronnie VanZant (Lynard Skynards lead singer) had a heavy influence from Chuck Berry as well as Elvis and Merle Haggard. Great reaction.
First time I got to see them live was it Harriet Lake outside of Buffalo New York. The first year they would not allow blankets into the venue LOL. Lots of fires were started in the Years prior with this band haha
CCR was doing Prooud Mary at almost the same time. But I don't know who did it first Tina and Ike or Credence Clearwater revival.I looked it up and CCR did it in 69 and Ike and Tina did it in 71.Rare two bands of the same era using the same song. I love both versions and uncoincidenally they are all from the same area of the south. And probably were all influenced by the same stuff like you said Chuck and we know Tina comes from a gospel background.
Girl, I love the how you vibe to this song!! You got that energy and spirit that is a joy to watch. Great Skynard track as well! You have a new subscriber. 😊
Actually Ronnie told him you gonna have to shoot me in the ass or elbows because something to the effect of I'm getting the hell out of here. (He didn't want any beef with the man and Ronnie didn't see any woman worth getting himself killed over)
Everybody in the skating rink in Tupelo Mississippi in 1973 would get up and dance to this song ,Sweet Home Alabama and one other called The Bertha Butt Boogie (The Jimmy Castor Bunch)Those songs have a strange effect on HillBillies.
I love your reactions to rock music . It’s so organic . And real . I have a 9 yr old so. And I have takin him to see over 70 live rock shows and the expressions are the same . Rock On Baby girl . . It truly blesses my heart to watch someone start to love rock music .
These guys were just kids when they wrote this song!! Allen Collins was only 21 years old when they recorded this on their first album! He was a teenager when he wrote the song! (Along with Free Bird & Tuesday's Gone). Very talented young Men!
I've watched so many versions of this and I'm a producer of music (shh dont tell) and this is the best, the best I've ever seen barr-nunn,,,, someone who's just into it feeling the music that I'm feeling along with you without any cares in the world, makes me feel stress free...at home with you
Nah, it wasn't called The Jug at that point. It got named that in the song to fit into the lyrics. I remember reading about it; I forgot the original name, but IIRC it still has its original name but is now subtitled The Jug in honor of the song. :-)
Just checked out your original videos and loved them. It's so refreshing to hear a young person pay homage to the older songs and actually know what she's talking about. It's not that you're saying you like the songs but you know why you like them. It's obvious you know music and not just a performer. I've just became a big fan of yours.
As all things Ronnie wrote...Yes, this whole situation happened to him. You are close to 20k....please React to That Smell but read about the song first.
Funny thing ...That bar the Jug is still there and it is very small so 3 steps would practically get you out the door LOL. Based on real life events ...the charm of Skynyrd.
I have heard quite a few others react to some of these songs such as (Lynyrd Skynyrd) that you are now discovering. And you are by FAR my favorite. I dig the fact that you really feel the music in your soul. Unlike the others I have heard. Since your going down this Skynyrd rabbit hole? May I suggest (The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe) It will certainly give you goosebumps unlike anything you have heard so far. Your the best reactor out there young lady.
I don't think he stole it, I think he just uses it. There is nothing wrong in something becoming popular and used. Angus does more than just the Berry move, he has his own added moves making it's own embellished set of dance moves.
This is actually a true story. Ronnie, Gary, and Allen went into this tavern called the "WT" West Tavern. Gary and Alllen were still teens and Ronnie was a few years older. But this girl came up to Ronnie and asked him to dance. Her name was not Linda Lou. That was the name of one of their grandmas...I think Allen's but not totally sure. The girl was trying to make her boyfriend jealous. So, her and Ronnie are out on the dance floor and the boyfriend walks in. He is this big BIG mean biker looking dude with big boots and leather jacket and carrying a .44 pistol!! He walked over and basically asked Ronnie..."hey, Wtf are you doing dancing with my girlfriend"? And he pulls out his gun and aims it at Ronnie circling him putting the gun to his head from behind. Ronnie was like..."hey, I don't know the girl. I didn't know she was your girlfriend. Please just let me leave, I don't want anything to do with your girlfriend." Well, the guy keeps at it with Ronnie and Ronnie finally says..."If you're gonna shoot me, you're gonna have to shoot me in the ass or elbow". He never said "three steps" and the place was small so "cuttin a rug" Ronnie put in for the song. "A place called the jug" was again for the song, although Im told that the jug was the name of it later on, and possibly in small letters under the "West Tavern" sign. Anyway, Ronnie started walking out, and the guy (with gun cocked) never shot him. Allen and Gary followed, and they wrote the song that night after they calmed down from what had just happened. Listen here as Gary Rossington recalls that night. ua-cam.com/video/z6bwNEYaFTg/v-deo.html
UNLV. One of my favorite basketball teams. I was always happy to see them in the playoffs. I no longer watch sports because I cancelled my cable but I hope great things for the team.
They tell a story in every song that most often you can relate in some way, now I have a dad shoot a shot as I ran down the drive way. Dont know if at me, the ground or air but I ran hard lol
Interesting. You are perceptive of information I am not able to interpret independently. The fact that you are capable of establishing that there is a parallel between Tina and Ike's "Rollin on the River" to this song, reveals to me, that you have an intuitive oversite that supersedes my capabilities in this regard. Southern rock is blues country and some jazz combined and just awesome
Humorous and catchy and talented......
When you grow up in the country but just wanna rock n roll!
Pretty gutsy move for the singer Ronnie Van Sant to sing a song about pleading to run away from a fight. Of course, Ronnie was a brawler in real life.
I LOVE how you totally and unreservedly FEEL the music. It’s precious!
Unpopular opinion but this is my fav Lynard song
@Awkward Dawn not necessarily an unpopular opinion, I've always appreciated the groove on this track...
The bass line on this song stands as one of my favs in classic rock, without a doubt.
@@mikecook7530 live version
My favorite too! Since 1973!!
Why unpopular????
Great song.
You have great taste
I love this girl! Thank you for appreciating LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
This definitely has to bring a smile to anyone's face👍
This song makes me laugh every time. "Tuesday is gone" is my fave of Skynyrd!
Cracker Jack and the fact that it’s written about true events makes it even better. Ronnie said that if this guy shot him, he’d have to shoot him in the ass or elbows because he was getting the hell outta dodge.
Same, "Tuesday's Gone" is a masterpiece!
Tuesday's Gone and Simple Man can't go wrong with those 2
"That smell" is very popular been in 1000 movies.
"Tues gone" lovely ballad
Southern Rock at its best !!
Song written based on a true experience
You are right. The guys would all tell you that Chuck Berry was a huge influence on them
Impressed that you knew who Chuck Berry is. Hail, hail rock n roll!!
I love that Bob Seger has a line in one of his songs "all of Chuck's children are out there playing his licks". He truly inspired many
@@miconis123 that was a reference to Chuck Berry? wow!

Sweet home Alabama, and Free Bird Lynyrd Skynyrd from Jacksonville, Florida where I was born and raised Southern Rock
Lot of fun watching you react. I was waiting for this. Knowing myself what is coming and your expression when it does.
"I Know A Little"....I promise you'll love it.

When Skynerd comes on
The air guitars come out

'The water fell on the floor' So scared, he pissed his pants....

I love your energy and your down to earthness (is that even a word?) I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Now you need to listen to both Curtis Loew and Simple Man :)
She has done Simple Man
@@crackerjack9320 Oh ok, I guess I just haven't seen that one yet.
Fun song!! 👍❤️ WOW...the Chuck references was great! Love ya kid!
Ronnie was a little feller, but everyone says he was tough and not afraid of anyone. That’s what makes this song so funny.
His old man was a boxer, Ronnie knew how to throw them hands
He was famous for kicking his band mates ass if they argued with each other or him
Actually Ronnie told him you gonna have to shoot me in the ass or elbows because something to the effect of I'm getting the hell out of here. (He didn't want any beef with the man and Ronnie didn't see any woman worth getting himself killed over)
He was also smart. He knew when to retreat.
If the dude didn't have a gun... He wouldn't stand up.
Saturday Night Special was a great song!!
"T for Texas" and "I Know a Little". Great reaction by the way! Love how much fun you're having. You'll never run out of great 70's music.

Fuck yeah I hear the Chuck Berry influences. Tina Turner too.
I guess it's a 21st century thing, but pausing the song and talking is a new phenonium.
Yeah, do more Skynyrd, Tuesday’s Gone and That Smell.
Tuesday
There are so many great Lynyrd Skynyrd songs- Tuesdays Gone, The Breeze, That Smell, Saturday Night Special
They cut they're teeth down in Muscle Shoals , Alabama. With a bunch of the old Blues and Rock and roll dudes. Big time influence. You nailed it.
Copperhead Road - Steve Earle
A CLASSIC!
This is a true story, experienced by the singer Ronnie Van Zant. By the way: "Cutting the rug" is an old slang for dancing in an energetic way.
There just isnt anything like jammin with skynyrd..all good!!
