Today’s video is all about electrocardiogram (EKG) rhythm interpretation for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.
An electrocardiogram (EKG) measures the electrical activity of the heart. Patients with chest pain or other related symptoms will need them to confirm if any heart problems are present.
By learning how to interpret them and understand EKG measurements, you'll be able to determine a patient’s care plan. You’ll be able to correctly interpret EKG rhythms in fifteen seconds or fewer by applying Mike's five-system method:
Step 1: Confirm if there are any P waves.
Step 2: Highlight any presence of QRS waves.
Step 3: Measure the PR intervals.
Step 4: Calculate the rate (beats per minute).
Step 5: Classify a rhythm.

I personally hate how varied the teachings on EKG interpretation comes. For the PR Interval, I was originally taught that it should be anywhere from 0.12 seconds to 0.20 seconds. From there I have heard 0.10 seconds to 0.20 seconds and even 0.08 to 0.20 seconds. It's annoying for newbies to hear this because it can throw a lot of things off. 0.12 to 0.20 seconds is fine. If your PR Interval is longer than 0.20 seconds, we're looking at a 1st Degree Heart Block. If it's shorter than 0.12, you might be looking at a junctional or a preexicitation syndrome or accessory pathway.
It’s about 3-5 boxes …. So, Third Box starts after 0.08 and end at 0.20 That’s why somewhere it’s considered as 0.08, 0.10, 0.12 .. So, let it be 😅
Hey Doctor I’ve been having foamy urine for 6 months now but it’s not protein related. My A1C is 5.4 and I’ve been having acid going up my esophagus causing a white tongue for 4 months now. How can I stop the foamy urine? I’m a man! My urine culture came back normal but the foam is still excess consistently.
