The electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) measures electrical activity in a patient’s heart and records it on a graph. This includes their heart rate, rhythm, and axis.
Knowing these readings is an essential skill for nurses - but interpreting EKGs can be tricky. By learning EKG interpretation and understanding their measurements, you'll be able to put together a patient's care plan more accurately.
