Understanding heart failure medications is essential for nursing students preparing for exams and the NCLEX.

I watched several of the videos on Simple Nursing’s UA-cam channel to help me study for the NCLEX-RN & I’m so glad I did!! I took my NCLEX yesterday 7/25 and got all 130 questions 🥴 I had several questions about medications, especially these mentioned in this video. Although every exam is different for everyone, whenever nurse Mike tells you an NCLEX TIP, engrave that in your mind because it will show up! I won’t know if I passed just yet, but I wanted to thank Nurse Mike for helping me study for my NCLEX and simplifying pharmacology and medical diseases and disorders!

Most professors don't want to simply "teach for the exam" so you are going to typically get way more info than you need, and they won't want to narrow it for you. He is teaching specific "need to know" info for the NCLEX.

No Virginia, Vit K is a vitamin nutrient for blood clotting, wound healing, for bones, and
Potassium ( K+ is the sign for Potassium on the Periodic Elements) is NOT Vit K! Potassium helps nerves function, and help heart muscles beat regularly (except for when your level is low or high - then that's a problem). So please, please please check with your PCP ( Primary Care Physician) on the difference between these 2 supplements. I hope you've been corrected on this confusion by someone else as your message has been from a yr ago?

The calcium channel blockers you listed affect both the heart and the blood pressure. But many CCBs do only blood pressures, like amlodipine. Nifedipine ER is an in-betweener. It lowers BP, and it raises resting heart rate by 10bpm and lowers maximum heart rate making not want to go over 160 during heavy exercise.

This was so simply and easy to understand of all the BP videos ive come across so far. Thank you soo much. I understand now why i was given the meds im taking.
Had heart attack and lost 25% of heart muscle. Meds like Xanax, Lomotil and hydrocodone for back and numerous other maladies I held my own with an EF rate of 37% as I reached 80. These meds along with normal heart medicines allowed to continue good diet and plenty of exercise for 10 years. In the last two years doctors have cut off Hydro, lomotil and xanax. Too much advil created a bleeding ulcer. Now I just sit around in pain, poor sleep and depressed and am on a fast slippery slope down currently passing 30% EF. Thank you doctors.

great video, however, I was confused for a second on the picture that has the potassium foods crossed out under K wasting, it should be under potassium sparing since you want to avoid green leafy veg.
