Apr hadn’t released their track catback yet and I’ve had AWE exhaust on my other cars and I loved them so I went that route. Definitely happy with the exhaust and having it be louder or quieter on demand. I would say both APR and AWE have similar sounds and you can’t go wrong with either

Love this video! Picked up awe switchpath for my s3. Have a question - when you have valves open around 2100-3000 do you get any ear piercing drone in the interior (and the noise is louder than the exhaust outside)? But with valves closed I don’t hear it. Not sure if this is normal and can’t find info on it..
My car sounds identical to this, I feel like AWE and Milltek are the same!! I’ve got apr stage 2+ tho, not 3! Stage 3 must feel FAST! Is it 500hp? What’s your thoughts on the overall difference between stage 2 and 3 assuming you’ve been apr stage 2 before! Thanks man!
Ok my man, stage 2 is perfect for around town power but always lacked on the highway. The stage 3 plus kit feels strong but not as fast daily driving unless you really ring out the power band and get it up to high speeds. The stage 3 kit really shines on the highway and pulls stupidly strong all the way to redline and more. And on pump gas it is 500hp at the crank, just know the bigger the turbo the wider the power band is going to be and the more rpms you need to feel the boost. My car is crazy fast after 4K rpms but is almost stock like under 4K. I almost have to drive in sport mode on the dsg for it to feel fast if that makes any sense. Basically it feels identical to stage 2 until 4K rpms then it makes your head dizzy and pulls so hard haha!! If you’re ever in Chicago hit me up and we will go for a ride!
Driven by Boost wow thanks for such a detailed response! That’s what I hear from everybody man! Stage 3 is what you feel 4000rpm and beyond. I would LOVE to feel what a stage 3 car feels like 4000rpm and beyond, 50mph - 150mph for example.... u lose the zippiness and immediate throttle response when u go stage 3 unlike stage 2 at the lower rpm’s. Did APR build you a crate engine when you went Stage 3? Any upgrades to fuel injectors rods or pistons/head or just stock engine?? I heard APR aren’t building crate engines anymore. Risky going APR stage 3 on stock power. Are you running the stock dsg clutches? You have the DQ381? And I wish I could come for a drive with u man! I’m in Sydney Australia tho! Hahaha
Haha yes it is still on the stock dq250 transmission and stock clutches and I have had no problems whatsoever. Still stock engine and unopened but I do have plans to build it in the near future. I do know plenty of stage 3 builds with stock trans and motors who have lasted a long time with many track days. These engines are designed quite well but it still is always a gamble no matter what you do just be prepared to pay to play!
Driven by Boost for a sec I thought u had a 7.5R coz of your tail lights, ahh so we have the same transmission. Cool cool. Yeah I guess our engines do hold up well. U just gotta make sure ur on top of ur services frequently and earlier than normal. Engine, dsg, Haldex, brake fluid, coolant, brakes and pads, intake filter, and u should be ok!

I installed the awe switchpath on my mk7 golf r but the valve just doesn’t work! It’s always LOUD in any drive mode on any throttle. I have no idea what’s wrong

It is running the APR fueling kit which I believe is a upgraded HPFP and injectors

It is a lot more subdued that’s for sure. The exhaust doesn’t drown out the turbo sounds

Brett Iwanowicz the remote controls it despite the drive modes. You can close it and open it where in sport (dynamic) or drive or comfort.

You can get a valve controller from awe that can let you set the valves open and close in whatever setting you want

It’s very tame, pops and bangs are disabled. Very little drone even with out a resonator!

If you bought used you might be missing the controller
Driven by Boost bought it from AWE. Only solution was their remote. It doesn’t sit well that a $2000 product didn’t work without their $300 remote
