*BEGINNER-FRIENDLY BUILD GUIDES - 3.23 Affliction League* Below are a few guides you may want to consider for the 3.23 Affliction League. I have created my own build guide for beginners, and it works great as a Leaguestarter, is a lot of fun to play! Beyond that, Righteous Fire got some big changes in 3.23, and until I research more about the current build, I don't know if I recommend it at this time, but I'll still leave a link to Pohx's wiki page. Otherwise, here are some Leaguestarter roundup videos you might want to check out to find a build for the Affliction League. *Salendrak's Blazing Salvo Deadeye Miner* - Hard to find a more detailed build guide that is tailed to new players! And yes - I'm biased ;-) Vid link coming soon! See guide video for current PoB link. *Pohx's Righteous Fire* - A fantastic build for new players, Righteous Fire has a smooth playstyle, and Pohx has literally made a wiki to help people understand the build, including FAQs, crafting guides, and more. www.pohx.net/ *Fezz's Toxic Rain Champion* - I haven't played this build personally, but it has a HIGHLY detailed written guide, and Toxic Rain is and has been a popular league-start build for a while now. poe-beginner-guide.com/ *Other Newer-Player Friendly / League Start Guides* These are generally VERY detailed guides and pretty beginner-friendly, but be sure to watch the videos and read the notes, as they sometimes have some specific items or stats that are needed to make the builds work. I've been looking for beginners guides that are actually beginner friendly since I started at the end of last league. Thanks for some great guides! Subscribed
Yeah, lots of guides talk at such a high level that it's hard to understand what they're saying unless you have a lot of experience in the game. I really tried to keep things as clear-cut as possible. Glad you enjoyed it!
That's exactly the problem! A LOT of people making guides for noobs mean very well, but they end up using a bunch of game jargon that noobs don't actually understand yet and can make them very confused and hard to follow. This guys vids have been a godsend as a noob!
Yeah i feel like alot of content creators, dont realise the language they speak is completely double dutch for most beginners, even tho what they think theyre saying is dumbing it down, its not enough for us mere peasants, This video however really hit the mark!
A year on this is still the most accessible beginners guide for this topic and it's not remotely close. It's insane how bad POE content creators are at speaking to where their audience lives. Great job, thanks, really helpful.
Thanks!! And yeah, the content creators that have been making stuff for PoE for a while now do tend to get caught up in terminology that only makes sense for people that have been playing the game for a while.
I was very close to giving up... This game can be so overwhelming for a new player, seemed like every time I left the hideout I got introduced to a new mechanic without fully grasping the previous one. I've tried to get through many other videos but none explained things well enough to make it click for me until these. Thank you very much for this series, went from getting aggravated to really enjoying the early endgame after watching this series, seriously great work! (ps. I got my first Divine AND Exalted orb from my Righteous Fire exploding random barrels as well today lol)
This is the Elemntary School to high school graduation level of education/GED I need. Ziz’s PoE University, now that I reflect on it, totally fit its name with how all over the places, way too expansive, and random jargon thrown here and there at random parts of his videos the series consisted of.
Well, he does pretty much follow a lecture style of approach. LOTS of good info in those, but sometimes pretty hard to digest if you haven't had the necessary pre-req classes 😆
I’ve watched all of your beginner guides and I cannot understate how valuable they are as a D4 refugee. Well thought out and easy to understand. Eternally grateful for the work you put into these. Thank you so much, I’ll refer back to these quite a bit I imagine. Cheers 🇦🇺 🍻
I think you'll probably find that lots of stuff I go over won't make much sense when you're just learning the game, but after you play a while and then come back to the videos, more and more will start to click. You got this!!
i start play this game 2017-18 ,yes u need stash tabs fist i try not buy any of this but after some years u need it . currensy, delve if go thare , the div cards is must . and lets dont forget premium for sell items u gonna need it to . and maybe unique tab
@@salendrak I just recieved the notification about Your reply😅 Yep have been long since someone made me feel like such that it threw me back to that magic moment👍
Amazing video! What’s even more amazing is the comment and the description and how you plan on keeping it updated! Appreciate you trying to help new players get into the game.
Excellent guide, just what I was looking for. I just beat the campaign and first 3 labrynths on my first character with my own build which I'm pretty proud of. Needed to learn about how to approach the atlas tree and this guide was very helpful with that. Gonna push the endgame as far as I can, wish me luck!
That's awesome!! Definitely take a look at poe.ninja to find similar builds to your own if you need ideas of ways to further refine and tweak your character. You'll need it get very far into the atlas!
First watched a year ago Coming back to POE to try and learn mechanics before POE 2 comes out- and here I am again. Thanks for an absolute banger of a video. Subscribed!!
Legit easily the best and most digestible guides for true beginners like me picking up Poe for the first time ever. Great content hope to see even more guides maybe on bossing or a part 2 to this video with the maven eat and exarch
Not sure when I'll get around to it, but most likely the next one I will do will start to cover end-game league mechanics, and maybe my version of a detailed beginner build guide. But more will definitely be coming!
Atlas progression is either 17 nodes to wandering (either side) or full essence. Everything else is mathematically worse progression, (especially center kirac). If you go left side 17 wandering and then branch to get the 5 kirac points (10 % total kirac), this outperforms center kirac wandering.
This guide was super helpful Salendrak. Thank you so much for giving a base understanding of what to expect and think about. I'm someone who finally got to maps and finished the story for the first time, and your video helped lay out a few things. As an "end-game beginner" though, one of the things that would be helpful to know is just simply, all of the moving parts that I can choose from, and what kind of things I can get from them, for example... Heist, Blight, Delve, etc... While I know I have the options to pick and choose what I want to do, I don't know what each of them brings to the table, or allows me to change/craft about my items, and the game doesn't do a good job of informing you along the way... Fractured items for example just looked different and shiny when they first dropped, thankfully a friend explained to me how it worked. As a beginner, it can be potentially overwhelming, or maybe you can just be unaware, of what benefits each of the activities brings to the table or allows you to tweak, and all the things going on. Fractured items, veiled stuff, etc, etc (and on top of that some apparently have bosses that can drop specific uniques? If you like farming stuff like that) Have you considered such a guide for your end-game info? Given there are quite a few options to choose from, as a "first time end-gamer" it's all a bit confusing and badly explained in game. :D
Yup - a beginner's guide / overview of endgame content is something I'll be doing at some point. Might not be for a month or three though, as I've got a few other projects I'll be working on next.
Thank you for these videos Sal! I have followed the advice from your past 3 vids and have now reached the beginning of the end with my first starter :)
@@salendrak I used the build for Palsteron's Toxic Rain Ballista Pathfinder :) Again, thank you so much Sal for making the onboarding experience more accessible to newbies like me!
@Jose Ramos Absolutely! The only thing you won't be able to do is whatever the new mechanic is in the current challenge league. Which is currently a good thing since Crucible is...bad!
Thank you so much for this series! It has been incredibly helpful to me as I just started this game 2 weeks ago. Now I have a sense of what's going on and where to go. Keep up the great work!
I just want to say thank you! i tried playing a couple years back and did exactly what you said.. opened skill tree and went nope.. didnt log back in to check it our again until about a week before crucible. Your videos are amazing and gave me some great info that will help!!!
30:11 as of this moment in patch 3.21, I'm just about finished up in act 3 and so far I've found my only 2 chaos orbs in chests. As you mentioned, I don't stop to hit every vase or chest, only the ones in that're in my walking path. Thanks for the amazing guide :)
I just completed the campaign and your videos really helped a lot, especially getting through that initial hurdle of wanting to quit after seeing the skill tree 15 mins into the game. Thanks for this content, I don't think I would have enjoyed this gem of a game if not for your videos.
The presentation of this series has really been so great. This might seem like an obscure compliment, but truly i cannot express how valuable it is that youre speaking very clearly and plainly. Many guide videos have great info but its very hard to understand what the person is saying.
Oh, I totally get what you mean. Sometimes content creators for PoE speak in shorthand using acronyms that might be common knowledge for veterans, but gibberish for newer players. Makes it hard to learn from them when you need a dictionary / thesaurus to look up terminology!
One of the best guides I wish I found more early. I'm almost done with campaign but this is super helpful. The other guys are great too but this is the format I like presented most. I can actually fully understand what you're saying as a beginner. Thank you!
Best guides I've seen on YT. Well done and quality made. I might've missed it, but please include Cluster Jewel acquisition and how to craft them for beginners. I can't find a single good guide on this subject.
Thanks! As for cluster jewels, If/When I get around to covering more end-game (post-campaign) content I'll definitely cover those. Acquisition (outside of trade) mostly comes from Delirium. As for crafting, usually fossils is the way to go if you're trying for specific notables, but definitely use craftofexile to figure stuff out.
Thank you so much for these guides, I recently got into to the game bcs of a random cool looking build on a yt video (essence drain + contagion occultist) and without you, I would've been completely lost on what to do and what not to do, I am currently on map tier 7 in standard and it's stil a smooth voyage :)
one of the best build guide writers is engineering eternity, highly recommend watching his guides. though be warned that he recently returned from a like 3 year hiatus from writing build guides so how consistent it will be moving forwards is up in the air.
Ive been away from POE for a few years, played for a couple years befoee that. Never noticed tab affinities or the attack without moving checkbox! Thanks for that!
Thanks for these. As much as I love other content creators for this game, they all get lost in the intricate systems while explaining the basics. They also prefer long unedited discussions that is hard to digest for new and returning players. Subbed
This is so great. I wish you had a guide for every aspect of the game I want some help with. Turns out its been 6+ years since I played (500+ hours pre-steam I think, then another 500 in the Steam era). Whoa boy. I'm off to find a build guide to just have some relaxed play to try to get back into things. I'm old. I'm going to be terrible. But I miss the game especially after watching your vids here. Again, thanks so much for them.
My biggest advice is to take things slow, and when you get to maps, go ahead and remove content you aren't ready to deal with yet. And have fun with it! I'll be releasing a super-detailed build guide hopefully next week, and definitely before the new league that's coming out soon!
@@salendrak Looking forward to it. Went with Toxic Rain build, something I'd never tried before. Am Lvl 36 now and having a very chill time. Thanks again.
" 27:54 Left-Click to Move (NOT Attack) " Seriously, this was about the fifth time I stopped what I was doing while watching your video, loaded the game up, and changed settings to eliminate a minor frustration. Thank you so much! These guides are written with actual new players in mind for a game that is incredibly complex, and has been out enough years that a lot of it's base has forgotten what terms it uses on the regular that actual new players have no context for. I appreciate how hard it can be to keep that in mind, and you did a fantastic job doing so!
When making videos like this I try to remember how I feel half the time when my wife tries to tell me about how her day at work went. Very complex stuff, with lots of terminology and acronyms that mean nothing to me LOL
For some reason I’ve always seemed to hit endgame and then put path of exile on the back burner. I think I’m going to try and push through end game this coming patch and this just helps me prepare for that. Thank you for the motivation. Lol
I've had leagues where I'm basically like that, or I get a little bit into the endgame, but just lose momentum. It happens! But I think part of it is knowledge and familiarity with the intricacies of end-game content. The more I learn, the more I'm excited to push further than last time!
I like the way they made this game and how you would want to put a little money into it. I bought the currency stash tab and the premiun quad stash tab (so i can sell stuff). The rest are really just quality of life.. They make stash tabs sales every 3-4 weeks, so you can sync your purchases.
Great guide! been playing on and off since breach League got over 800 hours on steam BUT never got over say maybe tier 3 maps, finally doing it I guess 😂😂 got so many maps, couple of uniques from way back when not even sure they'll work, League stones from that awesome event when every league mechanic was available again and so on , wish me luck! 😂😂
I was that way for a long time too - would get through the campaign, maybe make some progress in maps, and then get distracted with another game and not really finish the atlas or get too far into endgame. But once you've done it the first time it gets WAY easier to do it in future leagues. Assuming you don't get distracted by something else....SQUIRREL!!
Best help ever I just hit endgame I play on steam deck and I've done everything without trade would've been nice to know earlier lol. Thanks got a sub from me
Ty I’ve been following pohxs TFT guide, it’s been great. The tip about not killing everything when in campaign was needed. I have a bad habit of full clearing every single place and ending up 10 levels to high. RF just makes it so fast to hyper clear. I’m level 61 in act 8 so I’m going to stop clearing
As you get further in the campaign, it gets really hard to not be several levels above the level of the zone. You have to start actively skipping mobs that are right in your path, which is hard to do! I just wanna kill everything that gets in my way!!
i played this in the beta and didn't' have two monitors. it was such aids, quit after 3 acts. now i have two monitors, its the best ARPG/game that's ever been made. started a month ago, doing maps .... its really helpful to be told you don't have to learn EVERYTHING at once and i appreciate it. this game is overwhelming and its end game is amazing. gonna have to see what this delve shits about and get that final ascendancy
I'm in my first character and didn't use a guide, I'm currently advancing well enough through tier 7-8 maps, but I'm a bit disappointed my build is near useless in delve, which is one of the activities I really enjoy. Nevertheless, right now I'm itching to play again, but had to stop cuz my stash is full and I'm waiting for a tab sale
Yeah, delve can be a bit tricky. Builds that work great in the rest of the game might not be able to handle very deep in delve. That said, most well-tuned builds can handle down to ~300 depth, but if you're new and not following a guide, getting that deep will definitely be a challenge.
Sorry im new to poe, In the trials of.... I found treasure keys in urn/chests/trunks. Idk if it was worth it but I managed to almost open all the chests. idk if it was worth it, Got some nice contracts I can do now.
I'm guessing you were referring to the Lords Labyrinth in Sarn. I rarely focus on getting the treasure keys. It's really rare to get anything good from them, but as with all things, there's always the chance you'll get something good!
6:21 gem and flask stash tabs are useful for console players and people who use controllers as it’s a pain to organise with a controller. One thing this game needs is the ability to switch between controller and keyboard like Diablo. I like a controller to play but keyboard/mouse for any kind of inventory Tetris 😅
I can't thank you enough for this guide, salendrak. You have, by far, explained the mechanics for Path of Exile in the most easy to comprehend, foundational manner. I have taken a long hiatus from PoE but am planning to come back to it for the upcoming league on the 18th of this month and your guides have inspired me to experiment for my first run-through and see how far I can get before I am steamrolled and have to find a build guide lol. I'd love to make a Marauder Juggernaut since this incoming league is Karui themed!
Love it!! Although there is definitely a time and place for following build guides, there is a LOT of fun and learning to be had doing things on your own. Have fun in the new league!!
Thanks for the good tips. Especially describing which is the goal of the endgame was helpful. That's what I've been missing. I played the leveling through about 10y ago and now I gave it a new change. I followed my own lightening elementalist build, because that I ended up using last time, even though I started with fire and minions. Leveling was quite easy, except time to time when I made few mistakes, which I was fortunately able to fix. After killing Kitawa, everything became way more difficult and in many maps, there's something that kills me with a one shot and I don't even know what it is. My skill tree is not far from some recommendations, but I have concentrated more on damage and less something defensive, because there was no need. Now I can't level up nor improve my gears, because cost of everything seems awfully high. To get anything good into six link with right colors seems to months worth of slow grinding. I have tried to buy some items, but haven't got answers to whispers or messages and I'm thinking do I miss something or are the all decent and affordable items there just to piss up possible buyers. I have Tabula Rasa and couple piece of pretty ordinary crafted items, but nothing even close to those on sale. For me, it would be best to know what is in those maps, which kills me in an instant and what I'd need to prevent it from happening. I have 5000 armour, and there's no easy way to get more without seriously compromising my attack capabilities.
Which league are you in? If you're in standard, most items tend to be more expensive than if you were playing in the challenge league. The counterpoint though is that the challenge league is already nearing its end, so less people are playing. At this point there are basically two ways you could go - continue working on your current build, but play areas that aren't as dangerous for you, or maybe start over and follow a good build guide. Either way you'll learn a lot - so go with whichever approach you would find more fun!
@@salendrak I play anchesters league. I did manage to get forward as I did the cruel labyrinth again and got few ascendance points. I did complete it before but propably missed using Divine font, so it wasn't counted as completed and the next labyrinth wasn't available. For some reason, my build is extremely sensitive for something I haven't been able to identity. Propably it have something to do with ability to shock. Since I mainly use lightening conduit, it's very critical to my strength. Now tier 1 maps changed from close to impossible to very easy. I`m still vulnerable, but can kill everything with single shoot. Range and speed is also too low and it's difficult to approach some enemies close enough so I can hit them. I wouldn't like to start over, but I`m about 10 refund points away from getting my skill tree to match one build guide. I just need to figure out where I can get those, if possible. Maybe there is some lower level optional missions, but that wouldn't be fun.
@@teropiispala2576 How are your resistances? That's the biggest killer for newer players, especially once they get into maps. For refund points, it is worth checking your map for any uncompleted quests from the campaign, as that would help you fix up your skill tree. You could also try trading for more orbs of scouring. There's no way to target farm for them in early maps though, so waiting to get enough might take a while from random drops.
I have had my resistances capped, but it depends what kind of gear I’m using. That doesn’t seem to be the problem. I think the biggest problem are the enemies who can reflect lighting damage. It seems that in some maps, I die in an exact moment when I activate my lightening conduit, even if I hide behind the corner out of their sight. Overall damage from strike on large mass is so high that even if only few percent is reflected, I die immediately. I haven’t yet find a way to overcome this problem. It’s causing annoying deaths in maps which otherwise would be easy.
Oh, yeah. Reflected damage will instantly kill you every time. The only solution is to re-roll ALL maps that have any amount of reflected damage. Reflected physical damage will be a non-issue for you since you aren't dealing physical damage, but elemental damage is a big no for any build that is dealing elemental damage.
I'll say the easiest to follow so far was on max roll, and hate to say it but lightning arrow and toxic rain ballista have been the easiest to learn. Just put on auras and 1 button attacks with support gems that trigger other gems. It's not optimal but it helps beginners focus more on mechanics and generally a bit more fun at the start
I remember when I realized Velyna (who’s as nice as she is knowledgeable) had 3 different PoB trees and set ups for league start, mid, and late game! Which I didn’t notice till I finished act 10! Be sure to read a guide thoroughly before assuming
Excellent point! Some build guides have only a single skill tree and gear set, some have multiple options for each. Gotta use the right one for whatever stage of the game you're in, for sure!
I quit poe after finishing the campaign in the deleve league a few years ago, didnt really understand mapping and got bored but im going to try getting back into the game and hopefully enjoy the end game this time
Most of you recommend not to open chests. I also stopped opening because most of them were empty. But i started opening more from Act 4 and got amazing drops from chests including a divine orb which helped me fund all purchases to quickly reach end game. Is everyone missing a lot by not opening chests?
It really comes down to a numbers game. If you can kill a full pack of mobs in the same amount of time that it takes to open a single chest, you'll get WAY more drops by killing mobs as compared to opening chests. But if you like opening chests, and not gonna lie - sometimes I do too - then go for it!

Back when Exalted Orbs were the standard bearer of pricing things, most of my Exalts I ever acquired, dropped from boxes/and pots. The same has been true with the Divine Orbs. I've been playing since Synthesis League on ps4/5 but I'm not good at the game and burn out quickly around the start of mapping if I even make it that far in a league cause most the time I burn out just looking for a build to play that's got a comprehensive leveling POB and guide (looking at all you Flicker Strike builds that only show the final results and not how to get to said results!!!) So, all in all, in the last few years, I've only ever acquired a small handful of either Exalts or Divines, and about 2 thirds of them, were from pots or boxes I broke or opened along the way x3 Even in Standard League when I transfer all my stuff I have only like 4 Exalts and 1 Divine x3 I've only had 1 exalt even drop this in 3.25 and I've been playing about 10 hours a day xD
Oh, I'm not saying it doesn't happen - I've gotten plenty of divines, chaos, and exalted orbs from pots and chest. All I'm saying is that going out of your way to open pots and chests generally isn't worth the effort, as you'll get much more loot and other goodies by killing more mobs than you will from taking the time to open chests. Sure feels good though when a fat currency item pops out of a pot!
4:43 What and where is the "Trade website"? Tried get a stash tab...but credit card rejected transaction. Is this transaction in a foreign country? 7:47 Your link for Awakened POE trade is for Win11. I don't run Win11...what then?
Trade website: www.pathofexile.com/trade GGG is based in New Zealand, but I've never had any problem purchasing stuff from their website, and they have players all over the world. As of Awakened PoE Trade, I use it on Windows 10. Have you tried installing it? No idea about Mac or other operating systems though...
What do you think my chances are at trial and error without build guides? I got tons of experience with complex stat build games idk if that matters or not.
It really depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it, and particularly whether or not you at least look at other builds on something like PoE.ninja. There's a LOT that can be learned from at least looking at what other people are actually doing. But whichever way you go - do what's fun for you!
ive had a couple of divine orbs pop out of pots and chests, so it just made me want to open them edit: also it helps that im playing a RF build, so pots just pop automatically when im in range
I don't think anything past 20-25 challenges in a given league is achievable by a casual player. If you don't call someone who plays only 8 hours a day a casual, like Zizaran once did :D Also, I wouldn't worry too much about efficiency. PoE is a sandbox, do whatever you fancy, smash em boxes, kill every monster, just make sure you have fun.
Not gonna like - sometimes I just like busting things in the environment! Probably a carryover from my Diablo 2 days when I used to smack things on my Sorc w/ Telekinesis lol But on the challenges, I would say the 20-range is something you can do without focusing on it much if at all. To get beyond that though definitely takes some serious focus, as well as a very solid build and good farming strategies. And of course everyone's definition of casual varies!
OK so maybe it's a good idea to create a secondary character in the challenge league mode to do the challenges. Regular nonruthless. But primary character when first learning the game should always start on standard ruthless. Otherwise, you well get confused as well as find it too watered down (extra easy mode) and exile/uninstall the game off your computer. Like most new users who make the fatal mistake of starting their first time playing on regular challenge league.
I have a hard time agreeing with pretty much any statement that includes the word "always" in it. Personal preference, gamer experience, and all sorts of other factors come into play. There are lots of ways to have fun in a game like this, and whether beginner or not, it's nice to have options!
@@salendrak OK? Yet it was a general recommendation. I never said there's no exceptions. If you want to playtest beta content, or like to do challenges then there's nothing wrong with going for CL. However, in general if your intent is actually play the game, then the latest final version is the way to go which is Standard. Same if you like easier mode with all the additional features. Just pay regular nonruthless. And just to be clear, Ruthless is still objectively quite easy in regards to how game difficulties generally go. It's marketed as hard with warnings of intent to be difficult. But the balance is pretty much what anybody will get from typical lower difficulty modes in games.
I'll be making a new-player summary of league mechanics at some point, but currently I don't know of any short and concise videos that go over that topic. So until I make my own video, I would just recommend running maps with the Stream of Consciousness keystone, try stuff out as it randomly pops up in maps, and from there specialize your atlas to focus on 2 or maybe 3 types of mechanics (pending atlas point availability) to learn those mechanics really well.
Im so dumb wasted 300 chaos orbs changing the ghastly eye jewel to have multiple good bonuses and didn’t get it. And also in leather belt, trying to get chaos, lightning fire. On the belt itself it was 300 c , and didn’t get it.
Is there a way to obtain these gold coins for stash tabs for free? On Xbox, I received a promotion, 50 coins, for any reason. Do such promotions also exist on PC?
1. Would you be interested in making a guide for console players? 2. Your help has been greatly appreciated so far. I was just wondering if its possibly to have endgame success on console. The game is very interesting but I don't want to invest too much time playing on console if I'm not going to be able get the full experience. 3. Other that buying a PC, is there any advice that you could offer to a console player? Thanks
Disclaimer - I've never played PoE on anything other than PC, so no personal knowledge of the console versions. That said, my understand is that it is basically the exact same game, you just have a different control interface since you're using a controller. But in terms of mechanics, builds, strategies, etc, everything should be the exact same. So other than interface / control differences, I'm really not sure what all one would cover in a guide for the console version specifically. Hope that more or less answers all the questions!
@@salendrak That's definitely good to hear. I appreciate it. I was also curious about the 3rd party tools and programs. Item filters and build imports. Doesn't seem like something you can do on console. Do you think those things are absolutely necessary? Do you think the endgame will be impossible without those tools? I literally just started playing a couple days ago so I have no idea what to expect.
I did a quick google search, and looks like there is a way to set up loot filters even for console. I don't know how to do it, but if you just search "Path of Exile Console Loot Filters" you should find some answers pretty quick. As for 3rd party trade tools like Awakened PoE Trade, my guess is those won't work, and if I were playing on console I would probably play with a laptop or something nearby so I could look stuff up on the web. Not sure how trading in general works from console, actually...
*BEGINNER-FRIENDLY BUILD GUIDES - 3.23 Affliction League*
Below are a few guides you may want to consider for the 3.23 Affliction League.
And yes - I'm biased ;-)
Vid link coming soon! See guide video for current PoB link.
*Pohx's Righteous Fire* - A fantastic build for new players, Righteous Fire has a smooth playstyle, and Pohx has literally made a wiki to help people understand the build, including FAQs, crafting guides, and more.

*Fezz's Toxic Rain Champion* - I haven't played this build personally, but it has a HIGHLY detailed written guide, and Toxic Rain is and has been a popular league-start build for a while now.

*Other Newer-Player Friendly / League Start Guides*
These are generally VERY detailed guides and pretty beginner-friendly, but be sure to watch the videos and read the notes, as they sometimes have some specific items or stats that are needed to make the builds work. Your mileage may vary with these builds!

@@salendrakThanks❤
A year on this is still the most accessible beginners guide for this topic and it's not remotely close. It's insane how bad POE content creators are at speaking to where their audience lives. Great job, thanks, really helpful.
Thanks!! And yeah, the content creators that have been making stuff for PoE for a while now do tend to get caught up in terminology that only makes sense for people that have been playing the game for a while.
After 155 hours I finally finished the campaign. I love this game!
Heh - gotta love it when the barrels shower you with gifts!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super thanks!!
Haha “a d4 refugee”
i start play this game 2017-18 ,yes u need stash tabs fist i try not buy any of this but after some years u need it . currensy, delve if go thare , the div cards is must . and lets dont forget premium for sell items u gonna need it to . and maybe unique tab
Yup - currency and map are the definite must-haves, as well as a premium of some sort, but beyond that, it's all just added convenience.
What a well spoken lad. I felt like if I were reading my first Lord of the Rings book.
That's one of the most interesting compliments I've ever received! Thank you!!
@@salendrak I just recieved the notification about Your reply😅
Yep have been long since someone made me feel like such that it threw me back to that magic moment👍
Amazing video! What’s even more amazing is the comment and the description and how you plan on keeping it updated! Appreciate you trying to help new players get into the game.
The Maven needs more toys to play with!
First watched a year ago
Coming back to POE to try and learn mechanics before POE 2 comes out- and here I am again. Thanks for an absolute banger of a video. Subscribed!!
Awesome - thanks!!
But more will definitely be coming!
fantastic guide, friend, iv'e watched it two times already
Pop quiz in the morning!! 😆
This 4 part series was so useful and understandable for me, thank you very much.
Any time! I'll be adding more to the series at some point, but probably not for a month or three.
Absolutely awesome beginner series. Very beginner friendly but also extremely informative. Kudos!
Thanks - much appreciated!!
Campaign completed and here I am getting more amazing explanations and tipps from you :D
Gonna be working on a super detailed beginner's build guide soon - so stay tuned for that! Should be out in a week or two!
For every Escape From Tarkov player, depo managment in Poe isn't impossible without Premium Stashes haha
Not impossible - just a LOT more convenient! I call that a sanity tax LOL
Atlas progression is either 17 nodes to wandering (either side) or full essence. Everything else is mathematically worse progression, (especially center kirac). If you go left side 17 wandering and then branch to get the 5 kirac points (10 % total kirac), this outperforms center kirac wandering.
Solid approach! Though I generally find that I tend to have plenty of maps such that optimizing the early atlas isn't necessary. YMMV!
If you like farming stuff like that)
Have you considered such a guide for your end-game info? Given there are quite a few options to choose from, as a "first time end-gamer" it's all a bit confusing and badly explained in game. :D
Yup - a beginner's guide / overview of endgame content is something I'll be doing at some point. Might not be for a month or three though, as I've got a few other projects I'll be working on next.
The Best Beginner Guide I've watched, will 100% recommend this video for a friend or anyone who wants to play POE. Thanks alot!
Much appreciated!!
These videos are the absolute best beginners guides available currently! Thank you!!
Thanks!! And you're most very welcome!!!
Thank you for these videos Sal! I have followed the advice from your past 3 vids and have now reached the beginning of the end with my first starter :)
Awesome! What sort of build are you using?
@@salendrak I used the build for Palsteron's Toxic Rain Ballista Pathfinder :)
Again, thank you so much Sal for making the onboarding experience more accessible to newbies like me!
Hey man, just want to say, from a noob to POE, your videos have been a HUUUUGE help. Thank you so much!
Awesome - glad they've been helpful!!
@@salendrak last question tho. Can I do endgame stuff (Atlas, maps, etc) if im on standard mode?
@Jose Ramos Absolutely! The only thing you won't be able to do is whatever the new mechanic is in the current challenge league. Which is currently a good thing since Crucible is...bad!
Thank you so much for this series! It has been incredibly helpful to me as I just started this game 2 weeks ago. Now I have a sense of what's going on and where to go. Keep up the great work!
Awesome! How far have you gotten in the game so far, and I'm curious if you're using a build guide?
@@salendrak I just started act 9 and I've been using Cold Dot Elementalist by TriPolar Bear from day 1
@@petersonpierre107 Nice!
I just want to say thank you! i tried playing a couple years back and did exactly what you said.. opened skill tree and went nope.. didnt log back in to check it our again until about a week before crucible. Your videos are amazing and gave me some great info that will help!!!
Great to hear! Only tip I'll add for now is don't bother with the crucible mechanic lol
This was an epic guide to watch. I feel a lot less overwhelmed now. Thank you!
Glad it helped!!
Omg it's Salendrak!❤
Oh hai!!
30:11 as of this moment in patch 3.21, I'm just about finished up in act 3 and so far I've found my only 2 chaos orbs in chests. As you mentioned, I don't stop to hit every vase or chest, only the ones in that're in my walking path. Thanks for the amazing guide :)
Those first couple of Chaos Orbs during the campaign are always pretty exciting! Pretty sure I got a Divine on a recent character in Act 7 or so!
I just completed the campaign and your videos really helped a lot, especially getting through that initial hurdle of wanting to quit after seeing the skill tree 15 mins into the game. Thanks for this content, I don't think I would have enjoyed this gem of a game if not for your videos.
Nice work - and happy to have helped! 😊
Thank you!
Thanks - much appreciated!!
I must say this guide is AMAZING and helped me tons as a new player.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad it helped!!
Thank you so much for these guides, I recently got into to the game bcs of a random cool looking build on a yt video (essence drain + contagion occultist) and without you, I would've been completely lost on what to do and what not to do, I am currently on map tier 7 in standard and it's stil a smooth voyage :)
Awesome! Glad the guides have been helpful!!
one of the best build guide writers is engineering eternity, highly recommend watching his guides. though be warned that he recently returned from a like 3 year hiatus from writing build guides so how consistent it will be moving forwards is up in the air.
Oh wow - I hadn't realize he had come back!
Ive been away from POE for a few years, played for a couple years befoee that. Never noticed tab affinities or the attack without moving checkbox! Thanks for that!
Those little details can make a WORLD of difference!
Best poe guide I’ve seen, and it’s not 2h long, insane. Thank you man, and gj!!
Well, to be fair, if you watch all 4 of the guides it's about 2 hours soooo.....😆
@@salendrak 😂 i saw it, still amazing. Very greatful!
appreciate the video! for the bandit part, I was able to just talk to them again and click "changed my mind" to kill the bandit, didn't need a recipe.
Was that before you had dealt with all three and completed the quest, or after? I wasn't aware that they had changed it if it was after...
think it was before, sorry I missed that detail@@salendrak
Thanks for these. As much as I love other content creators for this game, they all get lost in the intricate systems while explaining the basics. They also prefer long unedited discussions that is hard to digest for new and returning players. Subbed
Thanks!!
Thanks, the best beginner friendly content here
I appreciate that - thanks!!
Great video!
Im also playing off and on for about a decade. I always feel like a new player as I barely reach the endgame before the league ends.
It can be quite the slog sometimes!
" 27:54 Left-Click to Move (NOT Attack) "
Seriously, this was about the fifth time I stopped what I was doing while watching your video, loaded the game up, and changed settings to eliminate a minor frustration.
These guides are great! Haven’t got passed level 20 in the past but determined to get the campaign done at least :)
Go for it!!
Thanks dude. A true beginner's guide.
🙌
I like the way they made this game and how you would want to put a little money into it.
I bought the currency stash tab and the premiun quad stash tab (so i can sell stuff). The rest are really just quality of life..
They make stash tabs sales every 3-4 weeks, so you can sync your purchases.
Yup - I haven't felt the slightest bit of regret for buying the stuff I've bought for this game!
I didnt know you have poe guides! How nice!
And there will be more coming soon!
Really apprceiate all 4 of these! thank you!
Awesome - thanks!!
wow - i only had to wait 1 day between the last video and this one - now im ready to start playing
You had excellent timing!!
Thank you so much for this youre a godsend
Happy to be of service!!
Best guide for beginners bar none
Thanks!!
awesome guide and videos ,really ty
Happy to be of service!!
Thanks got a sub from me
Glad it helped!!
New to the endgame ty
Nice!
i played this in the beta and didn't' have two monitors. it was such aids, quit after 3 acts. now i have two monitors, its the best ARPG/game that's ever been made. started a month ago, doing maps .... its really helpful to be told you don't have to learn EVERYTHING at once and i appreciate it. this game is overwhelming and its end game is amazing. gonna have to see what this delve shits about and get that final ascendancy
2 monitors is kind of like going from dial-up internet to broadband back in the olden days. Once you try it, there's no going back!!
wow bro nice job , i cant thank you enough bro ! u are a true angel exile ;)
But am I still sane? 😆
Great commentary man.
The perfect guide for a noob like me, thanx
Happy to be of service!!
Interesting! I've never played this game on console before, so I definitely wouldn't have thought of that!
I really need to try some of those meta builds sometime LOL
Thanks for the vid
You bet!!
I quit poe after finishing the campaign in the deleve league a few years ago, didnt really understand mapping and got bored but im going to try getting back into the game and hopefully enjoy the end game this time
It honestly took me a few leagues to really get into the endgame and be able to blast through it. It's all part of the learning curve!
Good solid content
Thanks!!
I would love a 5-10 minute guide on some of the league mechanics!
I'll get to that at some point! Just don't know when lol
Very good videos bro
Thanks!
I also had a divine in a container yesterday
It happens!

Trade website: www.pathofexile.com/trade
GGG is based in New Zealand, but I've never had any problem purchasing stuff from their website, and they have players all over the world.
But whichever way you go - do what's fun for you!
love this guide. just curious - what hideout were you using in the video? its so spacious
Luxurious Hideout - Unlocked in the Baths in Act 8 👍
hmm thank you I like these tips.
Great!!
ive had a couple of divine orbs pop out of pots and chests, so it just made me want to open them
edit: also it helps that im playing a RF build, so pots just pop automatically when im in range
Not gonna lie - I do rather like it when a build's main skills break all the nearby pots for me automatically!
I don't think anything past 20-25 challenges in a given league is achievable by a casual player. If you don't call someone who plays only 8 hours a day a casual, like Zizaran once did :D
Also, I wouldn't worry too much about efficiency. PoE is a sandbox, do whatever you fancy, smash em boxes, kill every monster, just make sure you have fun.
Not gonna like - sometimes I just like busting things in the environment! Probably a carryover from my Diablo 2 days when I used to smack things on my Sorc w/ Telekinesis lol
But on the challenges, I would say the 20-range is something you can do without focusing on it much if at all. To get beyond that though definitely takes some serious focus, as well as a very solid build and good farming strategies. And of course everyone's definition of casual varies!
I got a divine orb from a weapon rack in act 7.
Nice! Not sure what it was doing on a weapon rack though LOL
I like your build. How can you make the damage of enemies attack first your energy shield while using eldritch battery?
Mind Over Matter keystone passive, located between the witch and templar start points. "40% of Damage is taken from Mana before Life"
hoping bro gets to 100k soon
And get that fancy silver wall plaque!!
So what are console players supposed to do with the awakened trader?
Pretty sure stuff like that doesn't work on console, sooo.....
@salendrak okay well thank you anyways lol. I'm a new player so I was just wondering
Haven't played since delve, is there anywhere that has a good breakdown on all the new mechanics and which is good for newbies (heist. Legion etc)
Ever since I got a stone of jordan from a chest in Kurast, I always pop chests. lol
@@ericwenschlag6063 But did you ever get a Zod rune? 😆
does a chaos orb count as juicy?
I always smile when I get my first one each run!
Im so dumb wasted 300 chaos orbs changing the ghastly eye jewel to have multiple good bonuses and didn’t get it. And also in leather belt, trying to get chaos, lightning fire. On the belt itself it was 300 c , and didn’t get it.
I totally did that once when I was new to the game. Not quite that many though. Just chalk it up to a learning experience!!
@@salendrak thanks mate. Today with 60 c I buy 2 powerful items, we do really learn from mistakes.
Imma need that endgame content guide. Do you know if the scantum stuff is becoming core? I did it once and didn’t really like it at all.
Nope - sanctum is not going core. At least not now.
Is there a way to obtain these gold coins for stash tabs for free? On Xbox, I received a promotion, 50 coins, for any reason. Do such promotions also exist on PC?
Not that I know of, but don't quote me on that!
Item filter explanation would have been nice, but great guide anyway
@@salendrak I appreciate the feedback. Definitely subscribed.
The game I mean... your videos are very much on point and we'll done and easy to understand. Path of exile.....is not
Also totally agree! 😆
Gave up, too much stuff to learn... Gonna wait for poe2
Heh - I wonder how dense PoE2 will be out the gate compared to the original now. Probably not quite as dense, but give it a league or two to catch up!
