The zero-g plane allows for a lot of experiments to be conducted without the expense of getting equipment into orbit. Apparently 80% of microgravity research can be performed in a zero-gravity plane, which is much cheaper than going to space. The flame from the lighter seemed much lazier in zero-g because without weight there is no buoyant force and therefore no convection. This makes the process of combustion more challenging because it's difficult for oxygen to reach the fuel.

What is gravitational acceleration?
@@robotzombie4754 the acceleration of an object in a gravity field in a vacuum, the gravitational acceleration of the Earth is 9.8 meters per second per second, because you accelerate by 9.8 meters per second every second that you are falling for, but only in a vacuum, earth’s atmosphere drastically slows everything down which is why we don’t go splat from jumping off a small ledge, otherwise if we fell for more than 1 second, we’d be traveling at at least 9.8 meters per second when we hit the ground, which would be very painful, to say the least, and would be very difficult to survive

Very true. I'm in a teacher program right now, and my pedagogics teacher likes to call it 'The Clueless Researcher stage" of human development. Very apt name, I think.

scientists act like kids when they are excited 😁
Because that´s what they are. Partly, it is about keeping that childlike curiosity and awed wonder, and then learning a rigid logical mental toolset to examine the world without your preconceptions and inuitions getting into the way. But, of course, you are still a human beeing with emotions and everything. So, while collecting viable data like a pro, you can watch grown up scientists giggle like 5-year olds being shown a magic trick. Its fun, and its addictive, but requires a lot of strenuous work to get there, and sometimes its draining. Kind of a faustian thing.
They are not really scientists, more of science communicators.
That´s what they do on youtube, of course. But I am pretty sure at least Physics Girl is a trained physicist, and I suspect the others are, too.

@@NomadSoul76so ur saying it has to go up to later go down. Like litterally..

my question is ,when youtubers comes together to film, do they have a fight to decide on whose channel will it be uploaded ?
Sometimes they do both, like with Andrew Huang and Whats Inside.
Bhavin Sinyal it is on the 3 channels lol
i am talking in general when youtubers do collaboration...
There's probably no real single answer to this, it's really up to them. However, i guess it's more common for all of them to be filming and producing something out of the collaboration that they can call their own despite setting out to do something together, and then upload their own work on their channel, such as this video.
They all did different things and don't show much of each other's content for this collaboration which is pretty cool. They also filmed separately seeing how Derek has a cameraman and the other two brought their own cameras. Cheers!

Cameraman: 1:35
Camera men are Gods..they defy all laws of physics and life
yall seen what kind of rigs camera men have to carry?
When I was a kid, I read a science fiction story where there was a saboteur aboard a space station. The saboteur was discovered as he was starting to divert liquid fuel into the part of the space station where people lived and worked. The fuel formed globs, and floated around. Before the people could stop him, he released a small rocket that spat out sparks. Some of the sparks hit some of the fuel globs. The globs flashed, but the flame went out. The explanation was, the combustion products were not carried away from the burning globs because in zero-g, there was no convection. So, the combustion products surrounded the globs, smothering the fire.
My 8th grade science teacher said that wouldn't happen.

I love how everyone is like, "we're going to experience zero g for the first time!" and I'm like, "so you've never ridden a rollercoaster before?" The only difference between the Vomit Comet and an airtime hill on a rollercoaster is the length and the frame of reference. The vomit comet can maintain zero-g for much longer, and it is more convincing, since there is no way to know you are falling.
Plus they are moving twenty times faster than a roller coaster which would never really be able replicate the speed of the plane so even if the roller coaster was 30,000 feet in the air and descending at the same speed that it originally does it still wouldn’t be able to replicate this feeling. Maybe for a quarter of a second but only at the top of the hill.
