Today was another Venice beach, homeless encampment, clean up where the city and the Los Angeles police department or rangers tell the homeless people in Venice to leave the area so they can actually clean the place I witness how a homeless person got taken away by a group of mental health workers every Friday the city make sure nobody occupies the Venice beach restrooms people try to stay in there. I also met Daisy, the Venice healer she’s a local who tries to provide help to the homeless by building tiny homes. A new law came in affect that the large RVs cannot be parked in Venice streets at night anymore.
I’m bipolar and have been on a low dose of maintenance meds for the past 30 years. Before that I was just like Daisy out of control! If she only would realize they really help and she could live a normal life. This I hope for her and the many other lost souls on Venice Beach… 💕💕
If you have to take something for 30 years then it's not a cure. It's hard on your liver, probably has irreversible side effects, and creates a dependency. Best to deal with the root case than mask the effects.
Venice beach has always had strange people but this is got to be the craziest I’ve ever seen it! And even dirtier now
Met and chatted with Daisy before christmas when I visited Venice Beach ....really nice and friendly ,articulate and well mannered , intelligent lady ...down to earth ...it was a pleasure to meet her .Stay safe Daisy .
Daisy is a like a Disney character princess that somehow listens to her drugs talking for her. I hope she finds help before she ends up dead one day from her addictions or her mental disorder that she can over come with lots help and love. I pray she does, and also she is a beautiful person and soul.
I worry more about the unstable crowd she hangs out with. She might be harmless, but that crowd isn't
She's definately awake tho , when she's calm
She makes sense
If you go with the workers and have no family, friends, identity,ect.... you will disappear!
@@fake734New York sends ones with no family on one way tickets to Hawaii. Now Hawaii is being overran with drugs and homeless from other states dumping their homeless there. Plus there trying to push the natives out from Hawaii so the rich can do a land grab. Politicians are the devil.

Same here.
I was homeless abput 10 years ago after a head injury, but took what little help was offered by the city, and now I am back to being stable. One thing I have noticed, is the current homeless are a whole different breed from the homeless even 5 years ago. They use to be thankful just for a meal, and a shelter bed was a godsend, but a lot of the new homeless are SO entitled. it's nuts. I run into people here in SF all the time sleeping in tents, that HAVE housing, but they would rather stay on the streets, or have turned down housing, because they want a full apartment rather than a SRO or a tiny home, it's just crazy.
Thanks for sharing that. So happy to know you're doing well.
The world has gone mad.
Daisy reminds me of the drug commercials with the eggs frying.
That's a nice thing to say about someone who has been in recovery for over 5 years.
Daisy reminds me of a girl, I used to know. She unfortunately died from an OD in 2022. She was a kind, and beautiful girl who really cared about others, but unfortunately was held back by her drug problem. Daisy is still capable of coming out of this. I hope she can find somebody who can help her, before it's too late!
Luv her, but feel bad she did to much. She was such a lovely girl

Think for s person too change there must be first a change of environment. Hanging around homeless and drug users in Venice beach or skid row is not gonna bring that change.
There's no coming back from this.
Daisy the Venice healer also needs mental help. Poor girl
Wow Venice Beach looks sad. Mike Thank You for all the information.
Mike, God bless your mother she raised you right!
Mental illness and hard drugs are at epidemic proportions. This is Tragic . This is iconic Venice beach turning into a dump.
Not just Venice beach. Hopelessness is out of control. I'm staring to see it in suburbian NJ. I think less people would wind up like this if you could make a living on a waitress wage like we could back in the 80's. Either that or something we dumped in the water supply has made us all screwier.
It’s always been a dump
@@yenlard6683 Venice used to be nice.
@@yenlard6683 But it had character. Now it's just a garbage dump.
But I believe they've done here in Colorado is they give you the choice to leave and give you the choice to follow through with the places to get help and if you don't they'll force you to get help. Which I think is amazing because these people will not get help unless you Force.
When the homeless turn down help and support which most do, they should be placed in protective custody permanently
They like the EBT, gift cards, food, phones so they can return to a month of Sundays in free time.
I was born in The Valley and lived in LA & Santa Monica from 1965-2001, I can't believe what a toilet it has become! Shameful!!!

They will never solve the homeless problem until they address the drug addiction and mental illnesses problem.
Who is they? Cities supposedly spend millions of dollars every year on the homeless problems. Where is the accountability of all those tax dollars? All that money and nothing seems to change.

the permissiveness of drugs on the streets and lack of mental health facilities is never addressed.
The powers that be like it that way....... population control...
Over in Canada b.c around the Vancouver area there is housing for the homeless, but sadly they are all wethouses, meaning they are allowed to do drugs in these places so they really dont get better at them...
This. Japan and Singapore, for instance, have reasonable drug laws. In the US, drugs are legal at the user level, and the result is the dangerous zombies we have staggering around all over the place.

I'm not protecting anyone, but the homeless are a product of your society. Who knows, maybe one day you too will become homeless. You need to be realistic and have a broader view of real problems that no one wants. Someone is responsible for solving all this. For me, it is normal that such problems are present because an unhealthy society cannot function.

Even though I grew up on the other side of the country, we traveled to California so many times over the years. Other than the ocean being too cold - I grew up in Florida - California was the second-best state to me, next to Hawaii. Now, I see that the state's leaders truly don't have the slightest concern about anyone unless they are part of elite groups.
I truly hope that one day, Cali will get back to the great place that most of us remember from years ago. It is too great of a place to have it be destroyed by those in charge.
I feel for the homeless and their situation, but can you imagine paying high dollar for a beachfront condo or townhouse and all the INCREDIBLY HIGH PROPERTY TAXES attached to it only to have to put up with THAT MESS all the time???
Good point.
Good point. That's probably why it's happening. CALI is losing population. The high-end, professional workers are sick of that sh. People are attracted to Cali because of the weather and it's socialism, but that's costly to have to take care of people.
This is why there are 'beachfront' properties listed for 10, 20, 50+ million dollars around there that will never sell, because no matter how nice it is, just across one tiny fence or outer wall is... this. The sights, and especially the smells, and associated trash and petty (or not so petty) crime? No thanks, all the rich folks move further and further out into the hills overlooking the city because it's further away from Them. And yet CA has just let it happen across the whole state for decades without doing anything. Everyone keeps saying "Well what are they supposed to do?" How about first off they at least enforce their own laws? Like they built all those PUBLIC bathrooms along the beachfront for everyone and the homeless just took them over and turned them into drug den trash and stolen bike filled microstudio apartments LMAO. Maybe the cops shouldn't have let them get that entrenched in the first place?
Everyone talks about how "there isn't enough money for mental health in this country" what's stopping CA from spending some of those billions they collect from taxing silicon valley, on 'reopening those asylums'? You can blame Reagan and the GOP all you want for defunding them, but nothing is stopping the states, in this case California, from doing it themselves, except for... the fact that the California state government ALSO don't want to apparently? So never mind, I guess the California voter base is fine with things how they are.
Many do not want help. They don’t want to live by the rules in the shelters.
@@Chicago48I am one of the people looking to leave the State of California.
Great video GIV!!!! You definitely touch on subjects that some don’t want to… Stay blessed 🙏
This is so depressing. People’s mental health is a huge issue. My beautiful niece left her home without her medication. She is schizophrenic. Comes from a loving home. She bounces between L.A. and Long Beach. She no longer wanted to be medicated. It’s tragic.
I volunteered at a Drug Addiction Center in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not all addicts came from among the homeless, either. In many instances, the addiction was caused by private physicians and misguidance of the parents who forced their kids to take prescription medications. I once had a pre-teen crying and begging me not to return him to his home because of this. As much as I wanted to, legally I could do little to nothing for him.
It is getting worse, not better. NO enforcement of loitering, camping, drug use by law enforcement and this is what you get.
@@Hansen710 It is not even vastly similar.

We have a program in our city of West Sacramento where they pay homeless people to work to pick up litter pickup trash and in exchange they get debit cards or gift cards in place of cash.
And it was pretty successful.
At this point, these people have proven they cannot help themselves. Even with all the services, housing, job placement, mental health.
