This is a update after 13 weeks, not posting about the homeless encampments in Venice . Today they started with Spot cleaning on Venice Beach. Then they went down to Rose Avenue in Venice, where they have a huge homeless in Kent meant on the sidewalk in front of Whole Foods. Everybody was given 15 minutes to pack their stuff then they started cleaning up doing the cleanup. I happen to walk to golds gym in Venice and met my idol Arnold Schwarzenegger

@@jbo3536 I was shocked with what he said, he afterall is enjoying these freedoms that made him rich and famous, but he was a victim in a way, he believe the lies too and fear doesnt allow for critical thinking, it stirs up a desire to mitigate the fear and he was made to believe that freedom and right to choose for your own body was a threat to that security, I am sure he regrets what he said, he was manipulated like most people were. it works with gun control, people hear horror stories and cherry picked data and believe guns must be removed, but they dont realize is that guns have saved more lives they taken and prevented crimes, that would otherwise have happened, remember cherry picked data tells me they do not really believe their narrative they just want you to so you will support/consent to removal of freedom or rights.

16 years ago for my 60th birthday my wife and I flew from the UK and did a 3 centre trip which included a stay at a harbour-side hotel at Marina del Rey. The first evening we walked along Venice beach towards Santa Monica and walked back to the hotel in the dark. A bit naive as a friendly local taxi driver later told us and he wouldn’t have done it! Seeing it now, we certainly wouldn’t attempt it now!

You've met him a few times and you know he's seen you recording him but for him to recognize you out of the millions of adoring faces he has encountered over his career is impossible unless there was an associative piece of work you have done together.

    Hallo Deutscher in Venice!

I wish Mike could come to NYC to document homelessness and people struggling. We are having a major crisis here right now with the sudden influx of people trying to get asylum.
I’ve been a lifelong NYer and feel for these people, but it’s tough for me to feel for these people when they seem to be taking advantage of laws that don’t quite apply to the majority of everyone doing it. I am politically liberal too, so it pains me not to want everyone to get help, but I have to think about this situation considering my own personal perspective. My grandparents went through holocaust, lost everything and everyone in their lives, and still had to apply for visas and citizenship before coming into this country after WWII ended - and it took a long time and the help of an organization to make sure my grandfather had a guaranteed job before setting foot into this country, my grandparents and my mom who was a baby had to get physical exams, etc. They ended up in Portland, OR for two years before being able to move to NYC where a couple of relatives who survived the war had landed because Portland is where the organization was able to find my grandfather a job with his skills as a leather worker who made shoes, handbags, belts, etc. Portland is not the city it is today back in the early 50’s, but they graciously went there and worked hard to save enough to go to NYC and made sure to have a job lined up for my grandfather by the time the went (and accomplished this all without the internet, mind you).
Asylum is for people who are under immediate threat. I know the conditions are harsh in Venezuela and so many other countries in South and Central America, but asylum cannot be used by an entire nation that has decided to migrate this way. It is not sustainable and it’s directly affecting people who have lived here in NYC for several generations and need help - like me, who is disabled, ill, and unable to work. I’m scared public and private resources will end up giving less help to people like me, and then I’ll land on a street with all my medical issues because I can’t make ends meet. It’s a real concern and happening to people already. Due to budget cuts to accommodate asylum seekers, people in every city agency have suddenly lost jobs. There are tons of issues in this city already, like maintaining building safety. All of these problems have now become even more massive. These people are taking advantage of a law that does not apply to the majority who are not in imminent danger - yes they have it rough, but I honestly don’t see how it’s any better coming to a city that cannot accommodate them all. How is it better living in a tent city, having no job, having to stand in line in the bitter climate they’re not used to, etc.?! I really think about of these people thought they’re coming to paradise and they reality hit - and now they have massive issues and those of us who live here already now have massive issues as a result. Border control really needed to handle this problem instead of just letting the border states bus these people up here as a political “lesson.”
Anyway, Mike always shows everything from all perspectives. It’s very complicated. Would be cool if he could come here and try to help the world understand what’s going on in NYC.

    • @cincoy3679

There are 7000 a day coming over. The border states are full. There no more room. And it will get worse with 7000 a day coming over. NY will just have to take them in. AZ is so bad crime is out of control. Texas is full. Way would anyone vote for open borders when people are starving here. It will get bad really bad.

In the 1830s, Texas was a state in the Mexican Republic. The Republic was overthrown by a brutal military dictatorship. About half of Mexico's states revolted, including Texas, seeking a restoration of democracy.
The military dictatorship's forces traveled north from Mexico City, committing atrocities against towns suspected of revolt. Little by little, Mexican liberals moved northward to safety, with Texas becoming the base of anti-dictatorship operations.
The dictatorship's forces eventually reached Texas. They committed massacres in the towns of Goliad and Gonzales. Then the Alamo. Then a last stand at San Jacinto, which was a shock victory for the joint Anglo-Mexican democrats.
Despite the win, they were small in cash and small in number. So instead of retaliating with an impossible invasion of Mexico City, they declared Texas an independent republic.
The point is that Texans and Mexicans share a common history. We have a united heritage. We don't hate them. On the contrary, we've been friends and family for centuries.
None of this history is known to politicians in New York who have accused border states of being "racist."
And so now we have a situation where our border is controlled by cartels, instead of cooperative, lawful, orderly and peaceful administration between two great allies and trade partners.
Crossing the border isn't free. Young girls are raped dozens of times as a fee. Young boys are put into impossibly high debt, which they have to pay off by working in the U.S. for years. The collections are made by the cartel under the penalty of death and torture.
It's completely lawless. Sometimes kids just disappear. There are no police or cameras. Nobody knows and nobody cares, no matter how much Texans scream about it.
I'm glad that the political lesson worked. We now have your attention. I'm very sorry about the several thousand illegal immigrants in New York. I feel your pain. Of course in Houston there are approximately 2 million, so our problems are different.
Schools designed for 100 kids have 4000 kids. City hospitals are indescribably overcrowded. Cartel intimidation controls half the city. Our Mexican friends live with guns at their head. But we're "racist" or something.
It's probably too late to fix the problem. We already have had millions of children raped and murdered. So, I don't know. You have already destroyed millions of lives, and we can't turn the clock back.

@@heidi7151 Lol. You can make up history. But history can be found. First Texas there where really small amount of people living there the US offered
To buy it. Mexico said no .. Then Mexico said that white settlers could be there so they did. Then Mexico wonted them gone . They sent in there military and k all of them and some where prisoners of war and they did some really bad stuff. Anyway they also died. Then are gov sent in people we didn’t have many men . It was like 1 to 10 .. But that was won by the USA. So what you just said is not true at all. It’s was well documented. People just love changing history ..

If groups of homeless people at least kept their areas somewhat clean, that would help. Then again, the unhoused are too busy with mental issues, drugs, shoplifting, etc, to have time for the nicer things in life. The city in the past day also just cleared out the campers along Forest Lawn Drive, which you showed in another vid a few months ago. It's a never-ending chore, sort of like cleaning the toilet or keeping weeds out of a garden.

Do you honestly think any one person you saw in that homeless trash can work a job? Or want to work a job? Or want to do anything? This homelessness has nothing to do with the cost of living in CA. It's about people wanting to do what they want with no responsibilities, getting high, no cares in the world until a bunch of police some and tell them to move. So they move across the street to get away from them and then move right back. But not one of them is capable of working a job. There is help for them, they refuse it.

However, in my case I voted with my feet, took my family, and we moved to Ohio. Couldn’t take it anymore. Weather here is not great: Cold, snowy and no palm trees. But let me tell you, you can purchase a nice big affordable home, have nice neighbors in a nice neighborhood and homeless issue is close to nonexistent. Nevertheless, I miss California for its fantastic weather and all the nice activities one can do there all year around. Don’t miss your traffic, cost of living, taxes, gas prices, insurance costs, etc though. Please keep these interesting videos coming, I enjoy seeing footage from a state I called home for almost 18 years. But heh, here I can build snowmen with my daughter and learnt how to operate a snow plough ❄️ “If life gives you snow, build snowmen!” 😂

It's not "the" answer, but it's the typical government answer:
      1. Create the problem with freebies, zoning, high residence prices, destroy low-cost housing.
      2. Scare tax "payers" as to how bad the "crisis" is.
      3. Come up with new, big-buck programs to look like they are fighting the problem, but really just making excuses for higher taxes and more employees to staff the programs.
      4. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I am not going to ask the question " how did it get this bad" because ther isn't one concrete answer. It's disgusting, it's terrible, it's frustrating and maddening. No one wants to scrape the scab off of this problem because they are afraid of what they'll find. I gave some thought to this issue and all I can offer is compassion and prayers, because I am just one step away from living on the street. Ask your governor/politicians what they plan to do and you'll the get the same non answer they always give as they go back to their gated mansions they obtained from stealing from the same people living in filth. Thanks GIV for not sugar coating this.

Thx for the videos Mike. I have to say this though. Everyone blames California for all the Homelessness, however, it's not just an LA problem, it's the entire countries problem. Many, many of these people aren't from California originally, they are from all over the country, but come to California for the mild winters. If you watch a few episodes of Soft White Underbelly, you'll see that many homeless are from all over the country.

That tent-congested sidewalk situation could never happen here. We do have homeless camps, but those are getting demolished over time. The cost of living is super high everywhere now, but these camps are a major health hazard for not only the inhabitants but also the general public. It's just really sad!

The overwhelming majority of the "homeless" have brought the problem onto themselves mostly because they love their drug using lifestyle. The responsibility is TOTALLY on them. Commiefornia indulges these deadbeats and encourages them to continue with taxpayer aid.
For those that are truly mentally ill (NOT from drug abuse) and those just down on their luck I have total sympathy, but there are really not that many that deserve the charity, especially at the high expense to the California taxpayers just trying to survive themselves!
